If you're going for the "first" quest at least be kind enough to not just say first

Really?

and this is why I am _NOT_ excited for motion control games, Jank as hell, and this is coming from the BEST DEVELOPER Nintendo has to offer.

Ditto. Painful and a little embarrassing watching the man himself having a hard time getting the game to respond how he'd like it to... especially when it wouldn't take nearly as many tries with a controller.

The game itself looks quite promising though.

It's entirely due to technical issues. Check out the actual trailer or watch people playing demo kiosks. Sucks they had to endure such reputation damaging interference, haha

You should read real impressions...this is a terrible demo for the game.

Everybody who saw it during the post-conference Q&A said it was incredibly responsive and ran smooth as silk. So no need to worry about the spastic crap going on in this video.

Awesome

Hopefully when GB gets to actually try it out they report that it works fine. But yea, motion control is still a gimmick it seems.

Posted by MacGyver

i can't wait for more zelda, that's a shit demo though

TURN OFF YOUR WIFI!!!!

On the live stream with the Giant Bomb crew, they stated that it worked fine when they played the demo live. Of course, their tastes varied about what they played.

As for me, yeah, should be awesome fun.

I hate this. Better have traditional control scheme or Im not interested. Same reason I got GC version of Twilight Princess

Lol don't count on it
Posted by Mizuchi

haha, he does not have a very impressive skill level

Posted by jasius

Even though the guy is probably a billionaire its hard not to feel bad for someone's horribly failing tech demo about the "ease of control". I've seen other gameplay videos that weren't at all impressive but now that I know how they all work out, I"m kinda interested and super hyped.

It is a shame that this didn't go exactly according to plan, looks pretty cool I dig the bomb tosses.

Posted by Tophar01

That was HORRIBLE. I really hope that it really was due to technical issues/early build issues.

Or maybe this is the final nail in the zelda coffin

Posted by DSTV

...probably wont buy this

Posted by MegaMetaTurtle

Wow, really unlucky :(

Actually, does anyone know if Gizmodo were there?

This is your Zelda now. Deal with it.

I assume you've never played a Wii before, otherwise you wouldn't have made such an asinine statement. There is nothing wrong with motion controls, whatever happened was an accident that could have been caused by a number of things, but it wasn't motion controls as a whole that was the problem.
Posted by Kenzo287

good thing it really works

Posted by mewarmo990

The controller wasn't calibrated. It's a pretty common problem when playing with the MotionPlus; the sensor's "center" gets thrown off and you have to place it on a level surface to recalibrate. If they had done that it would have gone much more smoothly.

Must've been embarrassing, though.

Posted by enemymouse

one to one movement of the sword eh?
bam! there it is.

Posted by Shaanyboi

Thank god that it actually WAS due to technical interference.   Actual impressions have been super positive

And besides, Miyamoto wouldn't let this out of Kyoto, much less brought to E3, if the game ran that badly

Posted by TaliciaDragonsong

Do you people watch this muted or something?

He explains why it's happening and says sorry multiple times, and you guys still need to bash it?
Hands on later showed everything is (more then) alright.

I should go pester some Kinect forums about how the movements from petting Skittlez wasn't 1:1.  >.>

Posted by Chirag4

This is embarrassing

Posted by ashogo

It's a relief to hear that most people who actually played it didn't have these difficulties. As far as a Zelda game goes though, it looks cool.

First impressions man, First impressions.

Exactly.
That said, I don't think this new Zelda game looks so hot.
Posted by Southgrove

1:1 motion, eh? *facepalm*

Posted by CommanderZx2

Not really a fan of motion controls no matter how well they work. On another note is it really going to be showing the entire wii mote on the right side of the screen the whole time?

Posted by MeatSim

Link's quest in this game will be to destroy all cell phone towers and wireless devices so the game works properly.

Posted by MacGeorge

I feel really sorry for Miyamoto in this video. The controller wasn't calibrated.
Posted by thorkildsen

it's still a long time before the game comes out, so don't worry, it's gonna be awesome!!!
Posted by Alphonzo

Jaaaank.

Posted by ep_explorer

wow that did look kind of painful to watch :/

Posted by foodmonster

I really hope that it isn't that frustrating.

Posted by AgileNate
@CommanderZx2:  No I think its just to show people the use of the controls on the demo. To those worried about the motion controls, its going to be fine. Its obvious there was an interference with the controls and the Wii. Twilight Princess's controls were great and this is supposed to be much improved.
Posted by MrXD

dammit I hate those spider in Zelda! x_x

Posted by CL60

Jeff and Brad confirmed that it plays great when they played it.

Posted by fillmoejoe

Good to read it really was interference.

Posted by belowradar

New Zelda same as the old Zelda

Posted by Bellum

That. Was awesome.
Posted by Knibbly

You have to feel bad for the guy...

Posted by cassus

Wifi is ruining demos left and right these days :P Apple had probs during their unveiling of the iPhone 4, now this. Bummer cause I really wanted to see how this works.. If it works anywhere as good as the sword fighting in wii sports resort (which I guess it does) I'll buy this.

Posted by Th3_James

i'd play it if I had a wii

Posted by MagikGimp

Surely you need the wireless controller?
