E3 2012: You Got Co-Op All Over My Dead Space 3

My my, the day the Survival Horror died

Had only read small bits of information 'bout this one before...not sure if I'm liking it after watching the video. Not ready to already call it complete garbage either, though. Hopefully I won't ever have to, because I reeeeaallly liked the second game.

What happen to the dark scary atmosphere, this, THIS! It looks just like lost planet without the grappling hook and mechs....

Loved DS1+DS2 but this is suspicious. Visceral should know better than to ruin it.

In the gamespot interview they said in singleplayer it only has Issac in it. Carver shows up in story beats but he don't follow you around like in RE5. They also said the game has plenty of atmosphere and horror they just chose to show a more action part for the demo. I personally think that was a poor decision on their part.

Seeing this demo at first really put me off but hearing more about the game in that interview has made me feel a little better about it. I guess all I can do it wait and see for myself.

Stating the obvious here but horror doesn't work so well in games when your with someone else at all times.

Yeah. I mean, horror is a hard momentum to carry. You can't have the same fear when you know your enemy so well. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's certainly better suited to new IPs. Transitioning horror games to action seems completely natural to me.

So, people are upset that they're taking the "horror" out and just making an action game. What was the last good survival horror game you played? I don't see the problem with the direction they're taking the franchise. I'm super stoked to play this.

Game looks fantastic. It looks like the Aliens of the Dead Space franchise. More action focused maybe but it's hard to say, it's just a trailer.

I don't know if you guys remember, but Dead Space 1 and 2 had some of the most balls out crazy action I've ever played. Excited for the Co-Op portion too, even though I love single player horror, it looks like fun.

So wait, is the entire campaign co-op? Because that would mean I'm just not buying it.

If there's a side campaign, hey, cool, as long as it's not the focus of the game. If I go to the main menu and the first option is 'multiplayer', I'm going to be real sad for at least thirty seconds.

Ag.. Grizzly McSpacemarine co-op partner, cover mechanics, human enemies and plenty o' swears for the cool kids. EA's stinking paws are all over this. Even if the co-op optional, why is Dead Space turning into yet another 'gritty' TPS? Who the hell asked for this?

Here's hoping they don't make a crap AI for Carver. I'm looking at you, Sheva.

snow is the cheapest way to make your new game look good.

Hard to tell if they left out the horror bits to make it a more exciting trailer, or if the stuff just isn't in there period. Though the co-op stuff is a bit...much.

I like it a lot. It's still high quality Dead Space. I am really liking this.

This continues to be the series that I simultaneously am the most interested in and want to play the least. The early 2000's hard rock at the end of the trailer doesn't help much, either.

Man, what have they done to Dead Space? There is no space in this one. Also I wish we would have gotten a new person to play as. I thought the ending of Dead Space 2 was a good closer to the Issac Clarke story. Also I hate how dude bro the trailer made it out to be.
