E3 2013: Lather Yourself in MOBA and Get Ready for Infinite Crisis

28 Seconds in: I recognize Doomsday, but who is that supposed to be next to him? Man-Bat-Man? Vampire-Batman?

Also, showing the character Doomsday right before the VO says "controls the doomsday device" strikes me as a bit weird.

im in the beta, and this game is pretty rough.. if you have played league of legends then you recognize dominion mode. this is a game that only have this mode so far..

I love all the dota 2 love you guys are giving... that and its funny how some of you hate mobas so much. Its kinda cute... I feel the same way about bro fps games.

From what I've played and the fan that I really like DC, I'll continue to give this game a chance.

i've always loved the crisis on many earths type of storylines in DC comics, and two games this year are scratching that itch, first Injustice: Gods Among Us and now a free-to-play Moba from DC and WB games. i'm in the beta and it's pretty cool so far, as a former League gamer, it scratches that itch again, and i love comics so this scratches two itches. it's still in closed beta, so just like when i was in the Marvel Heroes beta, Graphics, UI, etc. are ever changing in each update, and i play Marvel Heroes now, compared to a couple of months ago, and it's vastly better looking and playing in every way. can't wait.

@moonwalksa: in a sense yes. NDA and all but I'll put it this way: it doesn't have Dota 2's complexities. I believe they're streaming an MLG tournament or match at E3 so you can see for yourselves

The kinda generic cartoony art style, the size and speed of the characters relative to their environments, the animations, and the way it looks like the abilities come out. It all gives me the impression that it'll play very similarly to League, or at least that they want people to think it'll be like League.

So does Brad quit Dota 2 to pursue this?

i've played a few hours of league, had a bit of fun with it, watched some dota and thought it looked alright, but i really don't get it. how is this such a huge thing. it most be so annoying for dedicated players to see idiots like me comment about this all the time but i need somebody to tell me. i understand dynasty warriors fans more than i do MOBA addicts. again, i'm not shitting on MOBA players at all here. maybe i'll understand when the blizzard MOBA comes out

Makes sense, the art style and movement makes it look almost exactly like League anyway.

This genre, the progeny of a World of Warcraft mod, slowly casts it's shadow over the genres I love. You know, like FPS and actually having to get along with someone in a concerted and calculated way.

Someday you will hear Duke Nukem and Max Payne and that pretty lady of Perfect Dark, and for somereason they will be co-operating, if only by ear searing curses over headsets....

That said, I actually watch half of Brad's Daily Dota. I learn a little each time, and they are pretty decent and humorous guys despite the pain...

Can the DC roster even come close to Dota/league without getting ridiculous and pulling in characters like Jimmy Olsen?

I think there is definitely room to bring dota-like elements to consoles in a more casual, jump in/jump out package. I know I sometimes avoid playing dota because I'm uncomfortable committing 50+ minutes. However I don't know if this is that. It looks a touch bland, but it's also way too early to tell.

Seems a bit uninspired and a lot opportunistic, but as someone who's a big DC fan/scared of DotA, I'll definitely try it out.
