E3 2013: Will You Stand Against the Inquisition in Dragon Age?

Not terribly thrilled with the prospect of another save-all-that-lives-from-extinction story, but I suppose after the reaction to DA2, I can understand the choice to scramble back toward the familiar.

I'm really hung over today and that music almost made me barf.

Yeah! Dragon Age 3! I loved the first one, and really enjoyed the second one. This is gonna be great.

And of course Morrigan is back - the Eluvian is the single connecting thread through both games, and I'll be surprised if it doesn't play an important role now.

And what is that tear in the sky, the Veil being torn and the Fade connecting to the world? Probably.

It would be disappointing to pair Morrigan with DA2 gameplay. Very disappointing.

Claudia Black, check. If Kate Mulgrew is in this too I'm sold even if I didn't like the previous game.

Morrigan = Best Dragon Age character.

But, that didn't sound like Claudia Black. I hope I'm wrong since she is what made Morrigan so great.

If it was The Child, then that kid aged hella quick. Also, was that a Varric appearance at the beginning? I hope so.

People who say Dragon Age 2 was bad are either slow or comparing it directly to the first game. It's like saying Cars was awful because it didn't live up to Toy Story. My only issue with Dragon Age 2 is how simple it was in comparison to the first, but that was a result of rushed development. Provided that they've already been in pre-production for this one for a while now they'll have a hell of a lot more time to work on it than they did on the second one.

I bet you play as Morrigan's babby from the first game. Gotta save everyone from the Burning Legion!

Dragon Age Origins is one of my top ten favorites but I have to say that this trailer sucked.

I like the look of it, more places to explore than the last one, maybe a couple more big battles than the first and youve sold me bioware

watching this one for the second time in the cold, harsh light of day- yeah, this one came off a (large) bit generic. if you're gonna dig deep and try to generate goodwill with morrigan, how about using her for something other than just a inconsequential narrator musing on FATE, WAR, and DESTINY?

They know they fucked up the second one, so I'm pretty confident this one will be good. Also, yay Morrigan!

I would be very impressed if they managed to import my Dragon Age saves somehow. That's impossible, but its nice to dream.

Dragon Age 2 was total garbage - a complete and utter failure on almost every level that one can measure a game, regardless of whether you compare it to the original or to games in general. The gameplay was both boring and dumbed-down, the story was largely pointless, the characters were insufferable, the graphics were a distinct downgrade, it was quite obviously rushed and unpolished/unfinished, and most damningly, the writing was incredibly poor.

I certainly wouldn't complain if this game turns out to be great, but DA2 already took whatever good will I had towards the series and ground it into the dirt. If this is another travesty, I will not be surprised.

Having skipped DA2 for poor reviews from people (I may backlog it) I am really hoping a return to form for this series. EA was nice enough to let it settle down and not rush a 3rd out of the door.

I know they've made it sound like they're going a more open-world route with this, but the real question is if it's more DA:O or more DA2, in terms of design philosophy.

I hope that we see Morrigan in a villainous capacity rather than as a party member again.

There are only two things I want from this: Merge the good parts of DA:O and DA2, I still have enough faith in Bioware to think they can manage that and please don't make this a "chosen one saves the world" story. Pretty much every game from Bioware was that (except DA2) ... please find a better angle.

I really loved both Dragon Age games. I think 2 is undeservedly maligned. Thought the story of Origins was much better, but the combat, talking protagonist and support characters were better in 2.

Sure Morigan and Alistair were better than any DA2 characters but the rest of the DAO cast were bland IMO. Worst parts of DA2 were the reused areas, underwhelming story (which was still good) and replacing the voice of Anders. In Awakenings Anders was one of my favourite characters of all time, in DA2 he sucked and I avoided him as much as possible!

If DA3 can offer us combat that satisfies fans of both systems and a story equal to DAO, that would be fantastic.

My ideal DA would be combat from 2, story quality of 1, and hopefully characters as good as Meryl, Anders (DDO:A), Morrigan, Varric and Alistair.

@deevster: Do not finish that mockery of DA: Origins.
