E3 2014: PlayStation Now's PS4 Open Beta Coming July 31

I should get into dancing while I play video games.

I didn't say anything about the point of the service; what I said was the latency currently makes the games unplayable and I can't imagine Sony releasing the service the way it is now. I don't know if that was just an isolated issue at my friends house or what, but PSN said his connection was "ideal."

I would much prefer news on a worldwide release of this service.

Streaming games is not going to work in a satisfactory way until the internet infrastructure improves. This probably will work fine in Japan and parts of Europe, but North America is going to be crappy.

@hurricaneivan29: The point of the whole thing is to play old games because the PS4 isn't backwards compatible. Even if you were to download portions of the game you wouldn't be able to use the machine to play them. It is streamed and will always be streamed, unless they start to software emulate PS3 games on the PS4.... which I don't see happening in any reality.

@stoffinator: I tried it at a friends house, PSN said he had an "ideal" connection for it, the latency made the games unbearable. I'm talking at least .5sec delay.

I also can not imagine Sony moving past Beta with the service like this. I just don't see how you can ever have a service like this be playable unless you download portions of the game during loading or the such instead of straight stream.

I am super interested in trying this. Then again, I also liked Gametap and OnLive, so my standards are not super high.

@spinoir: They are streamed. But it works very well.

So do you actually download the games or is it crappy compressed streamed video with input lag like onlive?

I want it, too bad I have to wait for a subscription plan. Still excited to record and upload clips of some of my old favorite games and catch up on games I missed.

Would love to give this a try.
