This is all Kevin Spacey's fault.

I really don't like how future-y the franchise has become, I'm longing for a return to WW2 or Vietnam.

So was that the trapped guy's arm on the ground at the end? How did it survive the explosion, it was closer than the rest of him!

I've become just about as jaded and sour on this franchise as the next guy. But man if this game isn't pretty as hell. Maybe the same linear shooter as the last, but it looks like there's enough new here this time around. It's from a new developer this time, so I guess it's I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

Hope that's a Hemingway reference at the end of the demo sequence (though maybe to the lesser known prequel novel).

@oatsaplenty: Hah! Damn that would have been a way better headline than bringing up Kevin Spacey.

I believe that was the arm of the person the player was controlling. Either there will be multiple protagonists or maybe the guy you control goes bionic commando...

A gun that regenerates ammo? That is Advanced Warfare!

I'm guessing that is what is ticking up on the gun's display

It is pretty, but its at the point where it is so future that I can't even recognise half the stuff in it as something that I know or understand. Not saying that is necessary for me to enjoy a game but being semi realistic is what Call of Duty was always about for me back in the day.

Well, i didn't played the last few CoD's cause i just got too bored of the same old shit, but this really looks interesting. And the graphics look amazing. I sure hope this game works great on my PC. If the consoles can run it i really hope my, pretty stronger than consoles, PC will too. :)

Well- that was disgusting. Anyone who thinks "advanced" wars are going to be fought by guys with LED's strapped to their chests is a fool. May as well carry around a "shoot me" sign.

Don't think I could be LESS interested in that.

I wish the enemy AI reacted smarter, instead of running into your gunfire. The one thing that hasn't changed and continues to bother me.

Okay, they're trying to make something slightly new. Good to see that they've finally changed the graphics engine. I know they were tinkering around with it, but Ghosts still had a lot of the engine that was behind MW2 and the older games, and from what I can see they've finally made a clean break.

Make no mistakes, Ghosts was not well received. You could tell by the fact that they discounted it on Steam within a few months of release. They've never done that before. This probably spooked them into actually putting in some effort this time, instead of just phoning it in.

Hopefully this won't be as incredibly boring as Ghosts.

@retodd1889: I raise you one extremely ineffective camouflage that is in issue (Universal Camouflage Pattern, sometimes known as ACU for asinine reasons), which does nothing more than differentiate American forces from insurgents. Infrared strobes are already used to identify friend from foe.

LEDs on the front of armour isn't that far off.

I love this, i remember thinking the exact opposite when year after year we would keep getting more and more WWII games. But, yah. Maybey they could mix it up a little.

Actually looks interesting, doing some cool stuff seems like. Crazy that this is more future in some ways than black ops 2, like the laser gun, but they are different universes.

I've typically been more into Battlefield when it comes to shooters but BF3 and 4 were both disappointing to me and Hardline just looks too bombastic with regards to their theme. This trailer definitely made me look at CoD for the first time in a long time and peaked my interest and curiosity. If nothing else it's a pretty looking game which can't be said about Ghosts despite their attempts to wow us with moving fish and hairy arms.

Well- that was disgusting. Anyone who thinks "advanced" wars are going to be fought by guys with LED's strapped to their chests is a fool. May as well carry around a "shoot me" sign.

Don't think I could be LESS interested in that.

I don't know about the world they've crafted for the game, but various sci-fi takes on the future use different rationales for the way battles are fought. The original Mobile Suit Gundam had "minovsky particles" used for jamming become so ubiquitous that dumb-fire weapons became standard instead of guided weapons (good excuse for mechs to use bazookas). In Dune, hand-to-hand combat was back in fashion due to the prevalence of personal shields which reacted catastrophically with lasers and which were more effective at stopping high-velocity projectiles than slower moving ones.

The opposite take is something like The Forever War, where the ships and munitions were so agile that the crew literally could not survive the combat maneuvers unless they were cocooned in protective bubbles (they didn't do the maneuvers themselves, it was handled by computers). For ground combat, humans used mechanized suits and initially the aliens had no concept of ground warfare and were massacred. then they emulated human tactics and weaponry, so the humans developed a "bubble" within which guns don't work and you need shielding to survive. Then four dudes start carrying it around the battlefields killing all the unshielded aliens. Then the aliens developed suits to survive and they brought melee weapons and hacked the humans to pieces. The book is really worth a read.

We can also look at history on Earth. As firearms improved, the armour required to protect against it became too heavy and expensive and was reduced to just breastplates and helmets and eventually ditched entirely. Instead, large formations of unprotected riflemen were used. History is replete with IRL min/max =p

So.. in the case of this game's universe, the lights on their clothing/armour may be irrelevant since they have far better methods for detecting enemies. If you can detect your enemy long before they can detect you, then having a glowing light on your chest doesn't matter that much. Camo can be irrelevant. Cover can be irrelevant. As long as the in-game universe does a good job of eliminating inconsistencies, it can be believable.

Actually surprised to see so much negative to lukewarm reaction to this. Maybe people are just so unable to like Call of Duty now, but thought it looked fantastic.

The gameplay looks nice, that graphics aren't bad, but I would have expected more. I cant put my finger on it but the graphics in this and the last COD have been unimpressive even though the world itself looks very nice.

I had doubts about it when it was first announced, but after watching this I think it looks pretty solid.
