EA Continues to Confirm That Battlefield Hardline Exists

I've always felt that wide-open maps are Battlefield's strong suit, so the idea of an entire game set in urban terrain is less than exciting.

Missed a real big cross-branding opportunity by not calling this Battlefield Street.

The leak showed twin engine police planes. It was pretty dumb looking.

I like the idea of this game. I think having Battlefield in the title is weird, but I can imagine EA only wanting to throw money at this idea if it carried a popular name. I don't see what all the complaints are about besides this not really feeling like Battlefield. We say we say we're tired of the same settings and themes in shooters. So here, we have an action police shooter (before you go digging through the wiki, yes I know it's been done before, but it's still more fresh than modern military).

I think this looks like fun. I do think it looks like a "budget" BF game, but I like everything about this. I'm sure as shit not buying it at release, but I'm definitely interested. As for it being unrealistic for cops to battle it out like this, it's a video game. I also enjoy stupid action movies like Bad Boys. I'm not in it for realism. Battlefield has never been realistic.

@grimmie92: Hey that's your opinion of it, but I love running around with just a pistol in the previous Battlefield games.

I think it's fantastic that they are breaking away from the soldier story and have it be cops and robbers instead.

That song was better as part of the "Orange is the New Black" season 2 trailer.

There used to be time when the mere mention of the word Battlefield would get me all sweaty and excited, now there's this. I felt nothing. You could have taken each part of that trailer from a dozen other games I wouldn't have known any better.

Not only does this game have no reason to exist, it has no reason to carry the Battlefield name other than to try and pull some extra attention it's way.

I think I'll go make myself sick now.

I still don't like that they slapped the Battlefield name on this, but it looks good on its own merits.

Single player could have some cool potential but I am, with 100% certainty, not touching MP so I'll get it when it's $25 on an origin sale or something.

A turd sandwich is still a turd sandwich no matter how much slow rock you play while you eat it.

Remember the small urban DLC for battlfield 3? That was awesome. It was fast paced like a CoD, but the gunplay was good old BF and the terrain destruction was fucking awesome.

Also more cars/heli's and less tanks is a big fuck yes in my book

For me the most confusing annoying and frustrating thing about the comments on this is people watching a 44 second hype trailer and make huge assumptions and declarative statements about what this game is/inevitably will be. This trailer doesn't show shit really, except for what most people would think of if you said crime based battlefield. These kind of games will never go away period and I don't think they should. Games are way bigger than when most of us probably got into them. There's a (much bigger) audience that LOVES this kind of game and EA would be borderline irresponsible not to pursue it. Maybe if instead of coming up with half baked weak cynical comments shitting all over everything you don't like and instead spent half that time championing the "good" games that you love oh so much maybe you wouldn't be so miserable and angry about a hobby you love.

if you're problem is the use of the name battlefield, which admittedly is clearly there for brand recognition alone, maybe stop holding franchises so precious. It's not replacing or impacting the ones you enjoyed before and this isn't even replacing the core games. It's not yours. If you don't like it don't buy it. If you read this whole thank you for listening to the late night rant of a bored guy.

I'm certainly interested in this game. I've been a big BF fan and like some others love the outrageous cop/robber action stuff so this could be right up my alley.

My heart really pines for a new Bad Company but barring that, sure why not. The business of video games is clearly on display with a game like this but with that in mind, I'm sure this had less chances of getting made without the name.

If anything though, simply removing it from straight on modern military should make it a bit goofier. It's a lot more fun to be a cop than a soldier if we're talking about dumb references. If one recalls how these types of games look in trailers and the kind of stupidity "serious" Battlefield games become in practice, then this should be alright in theory.

Hmm... don't really know what to think of it..

I would certainly have been more exited if they hadn't linked it to "Battlefield" - I simply do not have faith in their ability to make a proper Battlefield single player campaign after BF4 :(

( and don't get me started on their netcode lol )

Anywho it could turn out great, but so far it looks to be as yet another EA made COD clone.. so my prediction is 4 to 5 hours of: running after bitching AI followed by the occational arena combat followed by running after bitching AI followed by arena combat..
