EA Gives Basketball Another Shot

No, he's right, they promised to release a patch that would fix some of the broken gameplay, and they did eventually get around to releasing it a few months later. Supposedly it didn't really help much.

I'm from Portland so, you know, honk honk LILLARD TIME ON THE COVER but otherwise...yeah I'll stick with 2K instead thank you very much. The dunk animations in the demo don't look that great just from a quick glance.

But if it means Dame's getting paid as a cover star and the Blazers will be in a demo then I can't complain too much.

2K15 has better jersey physics. I know what game I'm buying.

Yeah, it's not that much better. It's kind of embarrassing.

Plus, this still looks NBA Live-y from previous generations. That won't get it done.

This will be the very last NBA Live, I presume. No way it tops out 2K this year with the amazing Shaq/Ernie Johnson stuff.

Awesome music in the trailer, though.

I'm actually rooting for this team to pull themselves out of the pile of shit they currently occupy.

I don't really buy sports games, but I'd say that variety in them is probably welcome.

Seems like there is almost always one "good one" and the rest are neglected.

I'd like to see EA produce a worthwhile competitor to 2K, here's hoping it turns out well. EA haven't really made a good Basketball game in forever, though, even before the whole NBA Elite controversy.

Looking and playing are two different things. Sure it looks nice, but I wonder about all the garbage they had to clean up from the last one.

Bouncetek. They put so much into that, that they forgot to make the rest of the game.

I look forward to it though. Having two choices would be nice. Not that 2K is doing a bad job.

The dribbling has always looked better and the animations are improved but some of the layup/dunk/collision stuff still looks a bit awkward, and while this is a "visual" (what does that mean? In-engine, actual gameplay) trailer it probably looks more awkward when viewed from the angle the game is usually played at.

As someone who plays 2K basically every year, I will give EA credit here, this is a marked improvement visually over Live 14. I know that's not much of a benchmark, but most of the players here look spot on and the animation seems better. Glad to see them climbing out of the hole. More competition is always good for the consumer.

Lots of guys I know are really excited because Damian Lillard is on the cover and he played for my local university, Weber State. I gently reminded them that NBA Live got a 36 on Metacritic last year, so it's unfortunate that he's on the cover of a bad game. Still, it's cool to get that kind of bigger attention I guess.

You're thinking of another borked EA franchise. They promised to fix Battlefield 4 before releasing Hardline. Or you could be right, I dunno.

Sorry but this looks like crap still...No different. Look at how their hands don't touch the rim when they dunk.

Looks pretty crappy to me. The jerseys look all kinds of wrong, the players also barely resemble themselves, their limbs look really unrealistic, a bunch of dunks that have been used in previous NBA Live games that are never done in real life games. Yeah, I'll probably just stick with NBA 2k.

The whole Giant Bomb staff is in agreement that EA is indeed giving basketball another shot, and that this is indeed the first NBA Live 15 trailer.

I'm shocked that EA keeps trying the NBA thing. It's going to be tough to beat 2K at this point.

I really want this to be a good game so 2k has some competition. I really felt like they phoned in on 2k14 because they knew people had to go to them to play virtual basketball.

Looking at how much money they make in the Ultimate Team mode in Fifa and NFL I can see them trying it every single year and in case mid termed still can't compete with NBA 2k from a quality and sales perspective to aim for exclusivity on the NBA license.

If lost all faith in EA as a developer last year all of there games were horribly broken and this year they all look to be striped down for DLC

Once you got past the sluggish controls, and the patch came out. 14 wasn't a bad game, me and my friends had a pretty good time with it. I cant wait for Live and 2K

This should be entertaining for all the wrong reasons. Even if it is somehow not terrible, who cares? It'll take years and years before anyone has any respect for this franchise again.
