Not until 2014 though.

Cool!

This trailer is the greatest!

Sweet. I only hope they're take the time to iron out the things that made me stop playing 4.

Sure I could go for more Tropico in about a year.

Now that Simcity is crap, Tropico shall rise to its rightful place!!

I haven't actually played any of them after 1, but I loved the original Tropico.

This is the classic Charlie Chaplin film from where the trailer drew inspiration.

So that's why the Tropicos are so cheap this weekend. Steam sale. 75% off.

Course, I already own them because they are awesome.

This just reminds me that Ryan won't be doing a quick look of this.

*sighs*

Let me guess, same engine, same assets, new balloon vendor building?

I thought this looked awfully familiar.

No fear! El Presidente is here.

Awesome use of The Great Dictator. Time to pull out my first photoshop for GB:

Finaly the city management game we all deserve.

Should've released this a couple days ago to coincide with Castro's birthday.

Really I should work in marketing or something.

Loved me some Tropico 4, count me in!

Ryan Davis confirmed for Tropico 5!

That was aweaome

Played a ton of 3, never picked up 4 cause it didn't really look like they improved on much. Hopefully they improve some of mechanics in this one enough to warrant a purchase.

This just makes me miss Ryan. :(

@butano: As someone who never played 3, I loved 4. But every time I look at 3, it looks almost exactly like 4

Edited by Moonshadow101

Just bought 4 on steam thanks to the sale. Been playing the GoG version of 3 for a bit, and couldn't justify spending $30-$40 on the upgrade. $10 for virtually all of the T4 content is a solid deal, though.

I love the trailer but let's be honest, besides the GB Community, how many gamers are gonna realize this as a nod to The Great Dictator (one of the greatests films ever made IMO)?

Couldn't get enough of 3 and 4 - Very excited to hear a fifth one (a very sexy one at that) is coming!

Nice!

Nice teaser.

Ryan =/

Wait...

They don't literally mean the whole world do they? Could Tropico 5 be closer to Civ?

Ryan comments make me sad... We really miss you duder :(

Hopefully this one is not another Kalypso budget game. The cynic in me knows it will be, but I want to believe.

I love The Great Dictator.

As someone who sank 85 hours and got 68/70 achievements legit on Tropico 4, my body is ready for this.

I just love how unabashedly Tropico revels in it's premise. This series has replaced SimCity as my go-to "world builder" game. Can't wait to get another entry in this fantastic franchise.

That's actually a pretty awesome trailer, the little smirk he does is great.

Skip to around 0:54:00 for that part if you don't want to skip through a 2 hour video.

Damn, I had to read the comments. Now all I see is Ryan. :(

Now I see, Ryan Davis didn't pass away after all. He grew his beard out and became a dictator.

I miss Ryan every day, and Tropico still looks good.

Posted by Trilogy

I really enjoyed Tropico 3, but I skipped 4 since everyone said it was so damn similar to its predecessor. I'm hoping that this new one gives me an excuse to get it since I could totally go for some more tropico.

@branthog: Most of us know what it's like to lose someone who was close to us. The great thing about the Giant Bomb crew is that they're all so open, so hilarious, and so honest about who they are. I've known people like that all my life. They represent a sense of character that is present in both those that I've considered among the closest of friends, and has been a large part of who I am. I guess in some sense that it's like losing a part of yourself, and it's not something that can just go away.

With that, you have to bear in mind the kind of person Ryan was. He was pure fun. If he taught us anything, it's that there's a lot to love about life. As difficult as it sometimes is to remember, I'm sure they understand it perfectly well. You kind of have to, because the alternative isn't very pretty.

I think I worry most about Jeff and his wife, though, honestly. I still say it's honestly even more of a reason for Jeff to take that trip to Japan now. Just get some coverage in and take some time off over there afterwards. It would probably do some good.

Interested piqued, but only if the game ends up being a significant upgrade from 4. I do hear they're using a new engine, but time will tell whether it ends up making a difference to the visuals and gameplay.

I got deep into Tropico 4, but never did finish the campaign. By the time I got to mission 17 of 20 (and they're long, long missions) I just felt burnt out by the gameplay. By then I was using the same strategies over and over, no matter what curveballs game decided to throw at me.
