Ellie's Alone in The Last of Us: Left Behind

Everyone is assuming that you'll be playing as Ellie in this, but I actually don't think that will be the case. I'm pretty sure the first time she kills someone is in the story of the main game. Having a Last of Us story where you don't kill enemies, you just run away from them or sneak around them would be interesting, but I find it more likely that you'll be playing as Marlene.

EDIT: Just saw the write up on IGN about it, and I guess you do play as Ellie and that isn't Marlene. I'm now even more intrigued.

I agree and had the same feelings while watching the teaser. However, it doesn't mean they can't do this story well in the game, but like you implied, I prefer stories with unknowns and discovery. We still could get that, but that's not the implication with this teaser, unfortunately.

It's the best friend she mentions during The Last of Us' ending that died after they were both infected. But yeah, I also agree that releasing a bit of story DLC that revolves purely around you running away from the enemies could be pretty neat. In fact I wish there was more of that in the main game, instead of having close to all encounters requiring you to kill everything to move on.

Who was left behind, Joel?

The DLC is gonna be 3 hours of ridding the merry-go-round.

Solved that problem by renting it from a Red Box and finishing it in a couple of days. :)

In the brief teaser trailer for The Last of Us: Left Behind, we see Ellie and her teenage friend Riley discover a merry-go-round that appears to have been abandoned. Riley is a character that appears in The Last of Us: American Dreamscomic series from Dark Horse. Where American Dreams explains how the two children first met, the DLC will explore their bond.

The DLC takes place while Ellie is attending a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events of The Last of Us,according to a post on the PlayStation blog. The DLC will focus on the bond between Ellie and Riley "through a series of events that will forever change both of their lives." Gamers will be playing as Ellie throughout the DLC campaign.

I didn't read the comic, but we kinda already knows what happens here, just playing through the game she tells you what happened. I am a little disappointed, I was hoping for something a little more original...hell, during the sewer portions of the game, you pick up a bunch of notes from a dude named Ish, which I was totally invested in. I know you're told how that ultimately ends as well...mostly, but it would've been more interesting, in my opinion.

I thought that Ellie never been in action before she meet Joel, beside, she never had seen a clicker. . . Well, This doesn't make sense! anyway, I really hoped that they working on another The last of us 2 or Something on PS4, because the ending was shit, And now this!

I forgot about that. That would've been awesome. This is great too though. The biggest disappointment is knowing that this is it. I enjoyed the MP, but could care less about the map packs - I wish all the DLCs were different story lines.

I was just playing The Last of Us yesterday, and man, I really hope this game wins a lot of game of the year awards, or at least a few. I'd love to see this as a game of the year edition on next-gen slightly updated (better anti-aliasing and 60 FPS). The DLC and the original game. I would buy it again on PS4. This isn't only one of my favorite games of this year, or this generation, but in general. It has its problems, but they're negligible to me.

@jawshua: IGN had said that in the past as well, but when I went through it, and as I listened to what Naughty Dog was trying to accomplish with this game, an Ish story doesn't seem like something they'd do. Obviously, it'd have more of a chance of becoming a DLC if many people wanted it, but I personally don't think it's the route they'd take. I'm also perfectly fine with the way it was presented and how his story ended in the game.
