Great job on the boss, apart from wasting that soma.

Hey let's fight Adachi!
*adachi dies*
"OMG I'M A RANDOM DISCO EYEBALL OF DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!"
*eyeball dies*

meh, Persona 3 handled it a little better in my opinion.

True ending my friend.  That said, Nyx Avatar was still better than even the True Ending boss.

Well, I don't see them needing more than one for the True Ending boss, if they even decide to go down that path.

You guys totally need to go for the True Ending, we all want to see another dungeon and another boss fight. DO IT!

True ending is lame, youtube it. It makes too much sense to end the game at episode 150. If you bend to the will of the comment whiners about the true ending, the terrorists win. Whats more you'll validate them and prettymuch send out a signal to people that if they bitch long enough you'll give in.

@atomic_dumpling: Well, he was still casting quake, so he definitely still had SP left.  I'm just impressed that it kept taking 3 turns for his eye beam to go off.  I was bracing for some major pain when they left Charlie unguarded during that first bewildering fog.

Also, I wonder if they remember during the first (second?) episode, their first encounter with Bewildering Fog.

But isn't the need to end the series on some number that has no merit other than psychological appeal far more indicative of ideological extremists? :D

Not blasphemy, just weird to use one when everyone had > 100 SP left.

I don't know why the protagonist doesn't speak during the cut scenes.  He has a voice.  I guess they wouldn't want him to say anything out of character for whoever is playing.

Okay, I agree it was a little early. On the other hand, the boss was practically finished at that point anyway and they wanted to combine it with an all-out-heal, so, yeah, not particularly brilliant, but still somewhat reasonable (you could say that about the whole Endurance Run, I suppose).

Still not up to as much playtime as Jeff spent on Burnout Paradise when he was in between jobs a few years ago.

Oh Charlie. Even when you're about to fight for the fate of humanity, you still won't say anything.

And wow, one shot for the boss! They've gotten really good since they started! That boss even took most
veteran Persona players a couple of tries
Posted by PosableActionFigure

It'll be disappointing if they don't bother with the true ending. After investing over 90 hours into this game, it seems silly not to bother actually finishing the story.

Yeah, it's usually the first eye beam that did most in.  Of the 4 times I've fought sagiri, he's never used that move without in conjunction with his bewildering fog combo, and not expecting a move that will literally ohko you, not pretty at all.

Both of them are not the last bosses. So,it does not surprise me if anybody can defeat them.Persona 3 bosses are harder because you practically fight "solo" against them since your members cannot be controlled like in P4.

It's not really just its difficulty though.  Nyx Avatar itself is just set up well with 13 phases of the arcana that you have to work your way through, ending with Death.  It fits into the thematic elements of the game far better than the P4 bosses.

The first time I ever fought Ameno-Sagiri he seemed to make a pattern of casting Mabufudyne (hitting Yukiko's weakness), dekaja-ing himself and then Agneyastra or Quake. Here he only cast one elemental-all spell and spent most of the rest of the battle being useless. All of the turns he had when debilitate wore off (when he can actually do some serious damage) he hardly attacked at all.

It's like the game's purposefully trying to make it as easy as possible for them =/

The last turn (2 normal attacks - 40~ dmg a piece) really made me laugh in disbelief.

Do you guys think they WON'T do the final boss and true ending?

They'd never hear the end of it in PMs if they didn't finish the game.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you on this one. I'm very much against Ameno-Sagiri's role in the game for many reasons. One of them is the fact that you've been chasing the true killer for the entire game, and then he's randomly shoved aside before his story arc is complete. Wish I could get into the other reasons but... spoilers, you know. I think Persona 4 is better than Persona 3 in every conceivable way, except for the very end. Persona 3's ending is maybe the best I've ever seen.

Uh, give in to what?  Give into people telling them to finish the game, when the entire point of the ER has been to finish the game?  By that logic, wouldn't they be giving in every time they put out a new episode, since there are always people saying "can't wait for the next episode"?

Games are made to be played.  If there is more to the story and you skip it "just because....i dont know 150 episodes is a nice number" then you are a weakling and a faggot my friend "
So, all those players who skipped it unknowingly are weak faggots then, how very charming.

This isn't a "the wizard did it" kind of ending.  Adachi is still a dick, and his personal motives for wanting to bring about the end still stands.  He wasn't in anyway being controlled by Sagiri.  The power to enter TVs and summon a persona might have been given to him by another, but that power did not manipulate him, simply enabled him.

But I will agree that the thematic elements in P4 are not done as well as P3.  *minor spoilers I suppose?*  While P3 stays with that of mortality all the way through, P4 attempts to match together identity and truth, a murder mystery, and Japanese creation myths.  Thus, there are some areas that come out rather unsatisfactorily.

Someone please tell them how to get the True Ending, so they don't miss it. E-mail them or something, or at least tell them to check a walkthrough before saving the new game + data.

Posted by lordofultima

If the true ending means more endurance run, I'm all for it. Although based on where they left off, I imagine they've already done the things beyond where this video ends. Only time will tell.

i just love with the music game being played in the background..it sounds like someone is cranking a adding machine  or something in the background.

amazing how they are (apparently) going to be able to end at episode 150...aka an end of the week episode.  (I know nothing about this game aside from what Ive seen in the ER so I dunno if any other random dudes are going to pop up and need fighting)

Maybe he ran out of his own SP - unless bosses have an endless supply by default. "
No, it was just the luck of the draw.  I was 2 or 3 levels above them and that boss killed at least 2 party members during that fight.

Well, think back to the end of Star Wars IV - Darth Vader just gave the emperor the shaft and died. Suddenly, some other dude in a yellow jedi robe appears and claims that he is the real deal, the emperor-emperor, never before mentioned in the narrative, telling Luke that he controlled the emperor via jedi mind control the whole time.

It's kinda like that.

I'm sure they (well, Jeff at least) knows about the true ending. They've probably been bombarded with PMs over it already.

It's just a matter of whether they choose to ignore it so they can end the ER, or whether they are just pretending that this is the end of the game to troll us.

Probably the latter since they didn't seem so stoked that they beat the "last" boss.

Knowing how the ER is recorded, they've probably already finished the game. Either that, or they're going after the true ending. We'll have to see tomorrow.

Here's the thing.  Adachi wasn't being controlled.  Everything he did was of his own will.  Ameno-sagiri's appearance doesn't in anyway make negligible Adachi's crimes.  Again, his power did not manipulate him, he manipulated his power.
Edited by SpunkyHePanda
@Turambar: Oh, I know Adachi is really a creepy raper guy and all that, I would have been even more pissed off if that had turned out not to be the case. I'm more upset about how it works (or doesn't work) dramatically. Adachi is the true killer. The plot driving this entire game has been the murder mystery and the motivation to take down the killer. This is built up as the final showdown. A showdown with a character you've known since the very beginning, a character you've become invested in. You have one laughably easy battle and then some random eyeball shows up to fight you. It didn't work for me. By the time I'd beaten the thing, it didn't feel like I had accomplished much at all. There was no motivation to beat this thing, it just seemed tacked on. Maybe the worst thing about it is that if you've seen the true ending, you know there was no reason at all to include Ameno-Sagiri. In fact, he kind of takes away from the revelations of the true ending too. I think the fight with Adachi should have been followed by a fight with crazy Shadow Adachi. That's it, the end of the normal ending path.

Wow, what an episode!
I must say I love the explanation that's been given so far and I'm very happy with the motive that has been revealed as being behind the TV world.   Up until now all that seems very consistent with the events during the earlier game - at least the ones I can think of right now.
The only curious effect of this story twist is that I began taking sides with "the enemy" and despising "our heroes" for their naive optimism and belief in being able to change the future. The plot begins to reek of unbearably postive happy ending, which I hate... but we'll see tomorrow.
So far I think I would have liked the bad ending I saw on youtube better than this. But only if the bad endings gave the player a bit more closure and explanation. But whatever - I'm still excited for the final episode or the road to the 'legendary' true ending. Whatever Jeff an Vinny choose to do for the ER  is fine with me!

Edited by Turambar
@SpunkyHePanda: Ok, yes, that I will probably agree with.  It's the transition from the murder mystery to Japanese Creation Myth.  They don't mix all that well.
Posted by Zokari

It doesn't sound like they're going for the True Ending. Pretty sad that they'll have played for over 90 hours but won't actually be finishing the game.
