Awesome job, guys. Thanks for giving me another thing to look forward to watching everyday. Really nice job on the last run of bosses and Lavos. Not dying at all was cool. Really enjoyed the music in this game. Thought your choice of Brono, Brog, and Bobo was perfect. Totally the trio I would have chosen if I played the game. Look forward to the next Endurance Run whenever and whatever it may be.

Just fyi there's no achievement for fellating the people who produce content for this site. I'm sorry I didn't hum along with the big parade of sycophants just to validate your opinion of a shitty run.

Any mention of a total playtime count?

i didn't watch any of this. i wasn't in to the game that much when it was out. I hope there is a game that suits my tastes later on though. I love GB for this type of content though. Top notch!

What you want is what they have pretty clearly stated is NOT what the Endurance Run's purpose is. They had rough spots, but in the end they accomplished what they wanted. They beat the game on THEIR terms, not yours or mine. This is one of the only times where "if you don't like it, don't watch it" applies.

Also, get over yourself. Just because people disagree with you does not mean that they are "fellating" anything. There's a way to be more constructive with criticism without sounding like a whiny little middle school girl. Then again, this is the internet, so I guess that's too much to ask of you.

I have my doubts that they'll revisit 16 bit SNES JRPG territory any time soon, but if they take it upon themselves to take on another "classic" RPG, sign me up for Final Fantasy VI/3.

Here here, if you want to talk about emotional payoffs, this is the game! Plus the gameplay mechanics are super interesting too

@MannySavior: likewise if you're going to get all butthurt because someone criticizes the players in the comments, take your own advice and don't read the comments. There is plenty to engage and disagree with in my criticism, the responses on the other hand are all some variation on "oh look a critic!" which doesn't really give me anything to argue with except to point out how totally crazy it is to have this hair-trigger flame response to someone criticizing content you didnt even produce.

That is the definition of being a sycophant and the only reason people are getting mad at that post was because it struck a nerve they didn't even realize they had about this site.

this run inspired me to start my own run of chrono trigger

I'm so glad this is over.

Guys, it kind of defeats the purpose of an endurance run when neither of you are familiar with the game and you don't switch up your team and use the different items, abilities, and strategies available. I appreciate the ability to watch someone play with fresh eyes, but this series could have been half as long with twice as much content if you'd been better prepared and weren't constantly dying and healing and saving and backtracking. You barely ever used characters other than your go-to team, you seemed to be terrified of ever using a double or triple tech (they're good) and you didn't bother to explore even half of the end-game equipment you picked up including the ones that unlock entirely new abilities. People want to see this stuff! I don't care if you don't have the time or the energy to do literally every single sidequest or whatever, but I pretty much had to tune out and stop watching once you decided that you were going to use same three attacks for the last 10 fucking videos.

What on earth was the point of any of this?

But you do aknowledge the point.

Anybody who's watched any Endurance Run implicitly knows that there is much more than they will ever touch. This is the silly GB guys discovering the game for the first time on their own, relying on their wits and fists on their own, and cheesing the game on their own. It's not unthinkable to see someone play the game for the first time this way during Chrono Trigger's heyday, a time when there was no internet, no FAQs, no guides. In that sense, I think it remains true.

I just don't think you saw all that you wanted to see or thought that they didn't show all of the good things people deserved to see about the game.  But that's the caveat of the Endurance Run.

It will either:

A) Satisfy people's curiosity, help inform them, entertain them, and they'll move on.
B) Inspire people to pick it up on their own and see the game for themselves.

The Endurance Run isn't a definitive nor complete look at a game, especially one that is this beloved. It will never do it justice, it was never meant to be. We get the essence of the game, if not all of it. For what the ER is worth, it still showed a lot of people that Chrono Trigger is one hell of a game after all this time. I understand getting frustrated seeing how people can misrepresent something one loves, but I think the greater GB community realizes this.

Goddamnit what an amazing episode.

All the frustration of this ER just went away in this one...

I think all Chrono Trigger fans should refer to themselves as Bronos now.

Personally never got a chance to play Chrono Cross. Would actually love to watch them ER it.

Although, I'd watch them New Game+ this game a couple times too.

Just wanted to congratulate and thank Ryan and Patrick for completing another Endurance Run. Also, I loved the moment where they freaked out about the save point after the boss rush. See you around Bronos!

Great job guys, excellent show to top off an excellent series. You guys cracked it out of the park. Thank you.

If you can't read over your first post and realize why people aren't too amused with the tone in which you chose to share your criticism, then I'm not gonna waste time and break it down for you. I guess ikabubu has the patience/time to waste for that. And spare us the "criticizing content you didnt even produce." nonsense. You cared enough to get angry when people called you out on your criticism due to your crappy tone, so you are no different.

Once again, I'll leave you with this. If you want to leave constructive criticism, it helps to not sound like a whiny little child about it. Valid points or not.

Even if this hadn't been awesome at first, it would have all been worth it to hear Ryan tell Ted Woolsey to fuck off.

EPIC !!! Definitely a VERY close second place to the Persona4 Endurance run! If not better! I Loved every second of it!!! Long live Endurance runs!!! :-D !

It wasn't shitty. You just didn't like it. Other people did like it. Opinions on the internet. What a concept.

I already started my second go at CT on the DS because of this Endurance Run. I also purchased Persona 4 because of that ER. Keep up the awesome work guys.

On the next ER, I'd like to see a Shadow of the Colossus ER. The frustration levels would be off the charts. haha.

@ikabubu: Here, here!

To be honest, this got me to go buy Chrono Trigger on PSN, and I would have had no inclination to do so otherwise. Playing through, I see that they had many shortcomings, but, that's how most of these go.

Posted by abacus

keeping my fingers, eyes, toes, etc. crossed that there may be a Chrono Cross ER in the future.

Posted by Skronk61

So much joy in the last few minutes. Amazing guys.

Posted by Feddy

@jwoozy: From your earlier comments I would say what you are lookign for is a Let's Play of CT which has all the things you wanted to see. An LP is all about showcasing a game, while the Endurance Run is more about picking up a game that is unfamiliar and forcing your way through it. To me both things can be great.

Posted by Karmann

Inevitably there will be a lot of comments, threads, e-mails, polls, etc. on what the next ER should be, honestly I know that they will just play whatever the hell they want to play, and prefer it like that, and I wouldn't have it any other way, and neither would they. ...HOWEVER, I think it can be pretty much agreed upon, that it should be a JRPG. They just work better with the Endurance Run formula.

Lavos' nipple lasers really freak me out.

Great Endurance Run, thanks a lot! I had a lot of fun watching you guys play, hopefully you had fun too. Now I'm thinking I should go finish my half-done playthrough of Chrono Trigger on the DS at some point.

Posted by MeatSim

Good job guys another Endurance Run completed and you didn't even die once during the final boss fight.

Posted by Sinkwater

I definitely died a couple of times my first time fighting the Lavos Core. Good job at being better than me at 12! =P

Great to see this game through the eyes of Ryan and Patrick. Keep being awesome Giant Bomb.

YAAAAAY! I'm a true Brono!

Loved this ER so much. Was very "ehhhh" when it was announced buy man, great job Byan and Batrick. Hope the crazy people don't put you or the rest of GB off on the idea of doing another ER.

Posted by Eirikr

Fantastic conclusion to a great ER. Awesome job, Ryan and Patrick!

Everybody say it together now:

New Game +

Posted by Anonymous1c4

I imagine that watching the Persona 4 ER from beginning to end felt the same way as following this to the end. Awesome, satisfying, a lot of enduring, and a little bit sad to see it end. I don't have anymore ERs to look forward to for a while and I beat Chrono Trigger along with this ER... Maybe its time to pick up Persona 4 again and finish the rest of the Persona 4 ER!

Posted by borgmaster

I suppose that it's a testament to how well the game builds up Lavos that patrick was freaking out like a five year old throughout the entire boss battle.

Refresh my memory: Was there a way to save Schala through a Magus storyline or hitting the Black Omen in 12000BC? I could have sworn there was a way due to the mention at the final warp gate..

Not in the SNES version, but there's a DS exclusive ending that involves Schala. They also sort of hint at her in Chrono Cross, if you know where to look.

Thank you so much for 42 fantastic episodes. I know it was hard on you guys sometimes, but you pushed through and the payoff in the end was remarkably enjoyable and very emotional. Kudos and thank you again.

I often recommend my favorite games/books/whatever to friends because hearing their reactions as they go through them are the closest I will get to experiencing them for the first time again, but since everyone on the planet has already played Chrono Trigger, this ER was a rare opportunity to get that fresh perspective on it. I played it so much in the 90s that I became desensitized to all the cool shit in it, but this last episode made me 'feel' CT again. For me that's the most valuable thing about the ER, you can't get that on most Youtube game runs.

I don't know why some people got so serious about the ER, personally I thought some of the hilariously dumb things they did made the run more memorable and amusing. I can't count how many times I was laughing and groaning at the screen. That's entertainment value!

I just don't know what I'm going to do during breakfast now. Did breakfast exist before November???
