That's going to be... interesting? (crying)

Night of The Living Dummy: Origins.

I think there is probably some irony to be had about the creator of Black selling their new game based on emotional resonance.

If done right this could be some seriously heavy yet informative shit. It's weird how you can learn more from video games than history class.

Posted by VierasTalo

I don't mind using this scene in a narrative ie. in the game but holy fuck is it poor taste to use as a trailer.

Bummer!

Really.

Posted by Quarters

Geez. Not really even sure what to say about this.

The pianist. Now with guns.

This is a loaded subject, and I can easily see it backfiring on them.

Posted by AlmostSwedish

See, all I can think about is that one Dead Island trailer.

We'll see.

Posted by cikame

The risk with doing this is that if the game is bad it's going to look so much worse for trying to follow real events.

@vierastalo: Yeah, this followed by a "PRE-ORDER NOW" placard left me feeling...weird.

Posted by Brodehouse

Well that's going to have an anti-climax.

Edited by Tennmuerti

Hmm, looking at the names and the company attached to this I highly suspect that this trailer will have almost nothing to do with the game itself and it will be just another generic shooter.

Posted by Flavbot

Definately interesting. I just hope it wont end up being kind of masturbatory in the way it deals with the subject. Like in the Tomb Raider reboot (I'm comparing how the designers present a situation, not Lara Croft and the people of Warsaw) the early levels didn't feel like Lara was going through tough times, it just ended up feeling like torture porn. "Oooh look how gruesome we made these death animations..... isn't it awful? It's really awful. Poor little girl getting her skull crushed with a rock." Overcompensating? I don't know. In any case it will be interesting.

I'm ready for a WWII shooter. It seems like it's been awhile. And if written well, this could be a sad (emotionally) action game similar to Spec Ops: The Line.

Posted by Aiasdair

Ehhh...Right...That told me nothing....Smells like generic FPS...

Posted by geirr

Tragic events aside, this trailer looks and sounds really bad. Unless it's a phone game, in which case I guess it looks OK.

Posted by aceofspudz

This was an extremely ineffective trailer and I think I know the reason why: a combination of the stuffed-animal-in-warzone cliche and the overbearing Hitler voice over. It completely kills the sense of confusion and dread that should be present.

Posted by Jonny_Anonymous

Nice to see another WW2 shooter that doesn't involve the USA

Posted by DuckHunter

Wouldn't it be awesome to get a game like band of brothers? Instead lets take the easy route and have little kids die left and right. All soldiers are heartless bastards.

That was a bad time for the Polish people. The Russians camped just outside the city and waited for the Germans and Poles to fight each other rather than to help them. The Russians killed a lot of Poles after they took it from germany to supress any resistance to the Soviets.

I'll be quite surprised if there's a video game developer that can deliver on this subject. More than likely it's just going to be GUNZ GUNZ GUNZ.

Posted by EuanDewar

I honestly try to go into all things with as open a mind as possible but I'm having an incredibly hard time believing the guy who described his previous games as "Gun Porn" will be able to capture the feeling this trailer is going for.

Judging by that trailer: This looks like it's gonna be "genocide porn".
Is there a cheaper way to go for a emotional reaction, than killing of a child and his mother, with no real context at all?

I guess they could have thrown in a few puppies, being stomped by German SS troops, but they gotta save some cheap shockers, for the full game..

Posted by SomeJerk

In that case I need a third hand.

Posted by baka_shinji17

No emotions, just explosions.

Posted by GasparNolasco

This is seriously a First Person Shooter with a gritty and emotional announce trailer set in World War 2? Man, if that's not extremely innovative!

Yeah, I agree.

This is ultimately the problem with game developers trying to convey a message but going entirely ham-fisted with it. Lack of nuance, subtlety and ,at times, tact.

Enemy Front's First Teaser Goes Straight for the Emotional Jugular.....

and misses, completely.

Posted by LarryDavis

This is a cool, pretty untapped setting, but mixing emotional exploitation with sub-par character models isn't exactly the best thing.

Posted by Dezztroy

Anything that explores the Eastern Front is welcome in my book. Majority of the war, yet we don't have that many games covering it.

Edited by darkfiber

Well... thanks for that trailer. Now I feel like hanging myself.

Edited by Reisz

I get what they're doing but fucking hell. Yowch.

Posted by vikingdeath1

So at the end, where it says "200.000 civilians were killed, it was the single largest something something"

I got so confused because 200 isn't That many people... then I remembered the rest of the world doesn't like Commas in their numbers.

Edited by Raven10

@euandewar: @mmmslash: He actually left like a year or two ago and the game has been rebooted since that time. I didn't know the reboot involved this, though...

Edited by LackingSaint

Hey guys, remember Dead Island?

Edited by lolPfhor

Is this another cheap emotional trailer for a game that is about shooting people in the head?

Posted by KittyVonDoom

Boooooooooooooooooooooooo

Posted by Sackmanjones

Hmmm, I actually wouldn't mind playing a WW II fps now. If they go for more emotion rather than straight shooting it could be interesting. It's what Homeland tried to do an wasn't very successful at it but hey, at least they tried.

Every one knows that WWII was bad time for Poland. I think Polish developers want to show how do they see. EF can be great game with something like history lesson:D

I thought this was going to be made by someone IN NA at first and thought that was cool. NVM

Surely there must be a game called Enemy Front already, surely.

A dark trailer trailer, in any case. Too bad the people looks like robots.

I don't think many people know how most of Poland was burned to the ground by the Germans during WWII and then was thrown under Russian occupation by the allies right after - because what better time to rebuild an entire nation than under communism? Countries like France were occupied, but Poland, and especially Warsaw was almost leveled.
