I'm excited for this game. The fact it exists doesn't seem so strange now that I've watched the first season of Portlandia though (The Fullbright Company is located there).

Because Giant Bomb is essentially the 80's/90's anyway.

Hope being forced to listen to mix-tapes of fuzzy Riot-Grrrl music isn't required for getting into the game. Spent too much time in my youth doing the same thing......but at least this doesn't look like it will leave me as sexually frustrated.

I love early 90s riot grrrl punk but I hate point & click games. Hmm....

Gawd, I had the same wood grained cabinet stuffed with VHS tapes of XFILES! Surreal.

So when exactly did the phrases "non-violent immersive sim" and "exploration game" start to mean "horror?" The only thing Gaynor has said that comes close is talking about how a dark, empty house in the middle of the night is creepy and unsettling. He has stated quite explicitly that it's exploration set in the real world with no supernatural elements or combat/violence of any kind.

Even before the alleged "90s nostalgia" made itself known, I was already interested in this game. But the fact that it is set in such a specific and under-reflected time and place seems to be adding a whole other dimension to the thing.

This game is super 90s. I had several magic eye books as a kid so of course I saw it was a shark. How many of you guys did the one behind it that's obscured? It looks like the bottom part of a heart.

Am I the only one that felt the trailer was going to take a dark and creepy turn at the end? There is something very off putting about the game.

I wonder if having such a hyper specific setting is going to narrow their audience. All I can think of when I see this trailer is those shows and movies set in the 70's or 80's that are clearly designed to appeal to people that grew up in those time periods. Without that personal element of nostalgia I always find that kind of stuff lacking in some way.

However as someone who lived in Oregon for several of my formative years, during the 90's no less, it will be interesting to experience this from the alternate perspective for once. Finally we're at the point where the 90's feels alien enough that we can introduce it to a new generation who doesn't understand what's so cool about shitty VHS Tapes.

I was waiting for this game to get scary...can't tell if I'm disappointed now, though. Either way, I'm sort of interested now.

These are the kinds of games i grew up playing, adventure games, detailed settings, examining everything to discover what had happened. I wish they could make more of them these days but no one seems to have the fucking patience required to play one that I did when I was eight.
