This is what Far Cry 3 should've been from the start.

Perhaps, the early 80's had heavy Hanna Barbara rotations and that was definitely only "animate the parts that require moving." It's apparently why Yogi has a collar.

Well okay, yes. Maybe it's more specific than that. It's still very easy to tell the difference between Yogi Bear and this trailer. I guess I can't verbalize exactly what it is, but it looks a lot like cheap Flash animation and not at all like cheap traditional animation.

Edit: Got it. It's the translation and rotation. Traditional animation couldn't just take the same arm as the previous frame and smoothly rotate it around or move it about, they would have to redraw the whole thing. It's especially jarring when one part is being translated automatically, while something else is redrawn at half the framerate elsewhere in the shot, making the whole thing feel kinda jaggy. That also can't happen on cels.

Fair enough. Steady march of progress I guess. Sweatshop animation is no longer cost effective compared to cold hard tech. I'm sure that's a theme in this.

Also, Far Cry 3 was a great game, but it might very well be that it's true legacy will be bringing THIS into the world.

I told Steam to shut up and take my money. Also, I giggled all the way through this trailer. Just HAD to be bought, simple as that.

This looks so much better than Far Cry 3. I'm so glad this is going to be a stand-alone experience. I don't know if I would have bought Far Cry 3 just to play this, but I will totally buy it separate.

When I bought a new video card I got a free copy of Far Cry 3. I installed it, never started it up, and its just sitting there on my HD, and I don't really have any interest in playing it any time soon. But DAMN I WANT THIS!!

Guys, I hate to be the party pooper, but... I think I'm done with retro silly in videogames. Maybe I was just old enough in the late 80s to remember they kinda sucked? I don't know, maybe I just overdosed on Double Dragon Neon.

I feel for you man. I'm old enough to be a veteran of the AOL/Earthlink/NetZero modem wars and vividly recall excruciating download times. That being said, are box copies of games no longer a thing? Couldn't you have just bought it day one, installed it off a disk and added it to your steam library?
