Fatal Frame for Wii U Arrives on September 27 (in Japan)

Nintendo hasn't brought over the last few Fatal Frame games, but I'll translate this game myself if I have to.

Waiting for years for this piece of news. Hopefully the game turns out better than the (generic) title.

Enjoyed every main series game so far, especially 2 and 3.

there is no generic title. there are only unofficial translations of a definitely not generic Japanese title.

What could possibly be "generic" about that title?

@def: everything? I know Fatal Frame can be kind of cliché at times and works well for it but the title could've been more creative and evocative like the past games. You don't need to put your old and tired dark haired shrine maiden there even if it somehow appears as an artwork on the cover. For comparison, Fatal Frame 3 title was 刺青の聲 (shisei no koe). More mysterious and with a nice choice of kanji for koe. To be honest it wouldn't be too bad to translate as The Raven Haired Shrine Maiden as in the GB wiki. Even though it's a wrong translation it comes from the origin of the word and sounds more interesting.

Obviously you don't need to agree with me but sounds kind of generic too me and the sort of title that's used to death in the Japanese media.

At least they kept the tradition of using one unusual kanji by choosing 鴉 over the usual 烏.

Not like it affects the game though.

So are you just basing this off of the translations? Because those are all wishy washy as the original is very evocative and layered by referring to water theme and that specific (crow/raven) shade of black that is the color of the ghosts hair from the artwork and screenshots. I don't see how that qualifies as "generic," seriously. If the title were something like "deadly forest" or "mountain of the dead" - that would be generic. Really, I'd just like to understand.

@def: I said I didn't, don't know where you got that from what I wrote O.o I speak Japanese. What I made was a comment based on my thoughts about the title, how it compares to other titles in the series and my thoughts about the (unofficial) translation which I compared favourably to the original!

Hence me asking if that was what you were doing or not. Note the question mark! It's cool if you're not too big on the title, I'm just confused how it qualifies as "generic" out of all things. Nothing more nothing less. But it's fine!
