I really want to know why some people are angry about this. I really do, because I just don't get it. This is awesome and will be the first DLC character I purchase for the game.

Anybody else desperately wanna see Ed Boon as a playable character?

So they troll us with the Fujin sound clip, they add a new character to an already-bloated roster, and instead of adding someone we'd actually want,  they fucking add Jackie Earle Krueger to the lineup (and seriously, fuck New Freddy), and they're doing dick-all to fix their months-old busted online. Wow. Why would anyone play this game now? Why would anyone plonk down cash for this dumb-looking two-clawed incarnation of Krueger? That's why they saved him for last. Because if they had done him first, people would've flipped NRS the bird and walked before Kenshi and Rain came out. The only two characters that actually are worth money. Unfortunately, with the game's online being busted to hell and back, and NRS giving two flying shits about that so long as you pay them, good luck getting in matches at all.

Why aren't they treating Mortal Kombat seriously! With the intense and prolific storyline and the fully realized and deep characters that the MK universe provides, I don't see where something as silly as Freddy Kruger can fit in.  
 
Seriously though, lighten the fuck up. This is awesome! It's not like they stuck Yoda in for no reason. Freddy Kruger at least fits.

I've gotten to the point that when it comes to Mortal Kombat I find it tough to say anything but "I guess that kinda makes sense, in that it makes no sense".

I guess with Kratos it's hard to argue against a fictional character from another universe coming into the game as DLC. However with Kratos he is a warrior that uses combo's already in his game. Freddy Krueger looks fucking retarding flailing around like he's a martial artist. That's what gets me, the whole point of Freddy is he is psychological horror. Jason makes a bit more sense as he's just a brute with a knife.

Lets see here...  DC fought MK cast, 
then MK fought Kratos, 
then Kratos fought the Soul Calibur cast,
the SC cast fought Starwars...
 
Therefor there is a proper canonical universe in which Batman vs Darthvader is a viable event.

The crazy thing is that they can actually fit Freddy into the insane mythology of MK. This game went to a lot of trouble of setting up all "The Realms" of this universe. You already have Earth Realm, Out World, Realm of Chaos, Realm of Order, and the Nether Realm that I wouldn't put it passed the writers to just say that Freddy is from the "Realm of Dreams." It may be crazy but it's a no less plausible than a fighter coming from the Realm of Olympus. Also his moves look pretty sick. I can not wait for the follow up to this game: Mortal Kombat vs Warner Bros Universe.

Why is anyone bitching about whether or not Freddy fits into MK?  He is DLC, he doesn't have to fit into cannon.  Kratos doesn't fit either by that criteria,  everyone has seemingly taken the stick out their ass for that.  Still need a reason for him to fit? FINE!!!! 
 
1) He has taken a perfectly normal teenage boy and turned him into a geyser of blood large enough to fill an Olympic swimming pool.

For a franchise that has historically revolved inflicting amounts of damage superman couldn't withstand and flourishing, enough insides to construct 10 individual people, having a character who spends his afterlife fucking people up is a perfect fit.  Thank you NRS for being as bat shit crazy as ever!

Freddy is a neat addition to the DLC roster, who certainly 'fits in' a lot better than the Jedi/Sith did in Soul Calibur. Unlike those guys, I can easily believe that Freddy is a denizen of the NetherRealm, just like Scorpion.

Might as well bring on It The Clown, Hellraiser (pin-face), and Chucky.

This is somehow disappointing to me, considering he's the last dlc character.
