What the fuck is going on here anymore i don't know anything

I basically feel the same way about it as you do, honestly it seems like a bit of a rip-off since they're just using emulation which I'd rather do on my PC. The Retron 3 (which contained actual hardware -- clones of the real deal though apparently the SNES part was pretty spot-on) sounded interesting though. Using original controllers is kind of nice, it's not like it's impossible on PC but I think there aren't many people making the required USB adapters / drivers for that (back in the day I built my own parallel-port adapter for a SNES controller). I kinda wish the Retron folks would sell their controller port thingie separately (would require some driver work I'm sure).

As for your question, I think the target audience is the same kind of person who wants a separate box to hookup to their TV vs. just connecting their PC / playing on computer monitor. I don't understand those people but it seems like a pretty common desire.

So strange to have someone on the crew that isn't all innuntated in the GB culture. Can't remember it was the same way with Patrick, but I guess he could sit more in the background at first.

I wonder what they'll add to the next retron.

Freedom / White Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays, GB and BBQ.

Watching Dan learn Giant Bomb is awesome!

Incredibly smart hire in my opinion. His energy is really refreshing, and he seems to be fitting in already.

@danryckert If you are still interested in learning any dota, for the international this year valve is running a "Dota Newcomers Broadcast", that should help. Also a pro player named purge wrote a very good guide for new people that you can find on steam.

I remember renting that SNES American Gladiators game back in the day, and I think it just may be the worst game i've ever played.

Pretty awesome stream, the new boys are both settling in really well. I like Dan's inquisitive nature, really seems to be gelling well.

And man, that SF2 fight between Jason & Jeff needs a rematch!

Finally there's someone on the staff that can actually go toe to toe with Jeff in fighting games.

Also someone besides Patrick to defend Yoshi's Island. Jeff, go watch Dan play through the whole game. He's amazing at it. He'll make you want to learn how to use that egg-throwing mechanic.

Usually I hate when things change, especially with Vinny gone and 2 "new" (Dan's been around but not this permanently) people are added, but I must say Jason & Dan are pretty awesome

Brads right that unpausing thing needs to be addressed, even if your being a nice guy and pausing for them theres nothing you can do to stop your teammates from unpausing like assholes.

Jeff is ice cold when he plays fighting games. By contrast, Dan is like a kid in an arcade

Man it's great that Dan can go toe-to-toe with Jeff, and how Jason seems to be able to keep up with the crew's crazy Brad-related commands, but... Can Brad just become the designated DOTA guy and can his stuff just be segregated from the rest of the crew's content? It's seriously becoming annoying at this point.

Assuming that Hyperkin will continue to support the system through firmware updates, the emulation should improve.

Speaking of which, did Hyperkin try to write their own emulation software? I know it's Android-based code, but writing emulation engines from scratch can't be easy when so many great emulation systems already exist out there.

Also, Dan's white-knuckled grimaces remind me of when Brad gets really into games, haha.

Holy shit that last World Smash Ball match was more exciting than most sports/esports games I've seen. Brilliant. Dan makes a great rival for Jeff, hooting, grunting and looking constipated while stone cold Jeff has his death stare going. Great show. Loving Dan's energy, enthusiasm and personality. What a perfect hire, he really was born for this site.

Poor Brad. Dan's amazement with Drew's control room shenanigans was so endearing.

I love how Dan is completely amazed by all the video stuff. Really brings it into stark relief how accustomed we are to Vinny and Drew's inimitable brand of shenanigans. Love it!
