GDC 2011: The SWERY Experience

Oh man. Talk about a person whose brain I'd like to pick for hours.
I always enjoy how Japanese developers are able to talk about a game in a much more personal manner. I rarely see that in western developers and would love to have more of it.

I was all smiles after that.

I was smiling the whole time watching this. I love when game developers love their games.

Feel good vid of 2011.  I still think Deadly Premonition wasn't a good game, but I don't think anyone can dispute that it was hell of unique. I think that makes a game special in today's game market.

When Swery began to whistle Life is Beautiful, I absolutely whistled too. This video really brought a smile to my face. Great interview guys! I bet the guy who made those cards is thrilled Swery got his hands on 'em, too.

There is no way there isn't a Giant Bomb reference if they ever make Deadly Premonition 2, and I can't wait.

Fantastic. They seem like very nice people.

To all these guys saying they should get the Persona guys in there, it's been so long and they've already made a game since then, so it would be super weird to talk to them about P4. Also, Swery is a rare person because he's one of the few video game auteurs out there, like Kojima or Suda. There is no one person who is the mind behind P4. And even if there was, would he be as fun as Swery? I don't think so.

I hope the guy who sent in the Pickles jar got to see this.

I love Swery but Deadly Premonition was a terrible 'game' (incredibly endearing, though).  Phenomenal interview.

seriously though, if it weren't for giant bomb, I would have cursed every single person that said that DP was great because then I would have played it, and realized that it played horribly.
