Yeah I really don't understand the Phil Fish hate- it was awesome hearing him talk about design stuff as well as him being generally hilarious as the night went on. Giantbomb team and guests were all spot on in this- great vid!

If you wouldn't judge him from one sentence, like a human being, you might realize he's not actually completely evil simply for thinking japanese games are bad. Just you know, maybe thoughts on how to treat people with respect and understand that some people say stuff without really thinking about how it will sound.

Between the breast milk, the pie flushing and this recent cake sitting development, it's been an interesting week for Ryan Davis.

....so how do you think the clean up went? Primarily of Ryan? Like...a hose? Shower and toilet-paper for his ass? Cause I imagine him diving in and, you know, that cake had to have gotten everywhere. And by everywhere I mean all the crevices. You know? Think about.

After all the shit talking the internet did about Phill Fish, I watch this, and he comes across as a really nice guy with some pretty interesting things to say.

I'm glad Phil was on this. I've always thought the interwebz hate for him was completely unwarranted. Hes just a normal dude like the rest of us, not a mustache twirling villain.

I'll never look at cake the same way again.

So why don't people like Phil Fish? I must have missed some sort of internet outrage or something, because he seemed like a pretty cool and interesting dude.

And didn't the Giantbomb crew literally just say that during the first part GDC after party? I mean, it's true, Japanese game design has been stagnated for a while now.

I don't agree with some of the more outrageous things Fish has said (Japanese games suck, the choke on my dick comment he made, etc.) but he seems like an incredibly cool guy.

When he was talking about creating an atmospheric virtual world with Oculus Rift support I really enjoyed just hearing him talk about how he would imagine it and how it would be. It would be really awesome to explore a finely crafted immersive virtual world with the Rift, where the only objective was to explore, and that was really it.

I also am so glad to finally hear people who agree with me that games shouldn't be realistic, because I get enough of that shit in real life every day. I don't want to go home and play more of that crap, I want to do crazy shit that isn't possible in reality in a world that could never exist.

As for the new word they were looking for to describe video games that aren't quite games, I would say "virtual experience" would be a decent term to use. That way it doesn't have to adhere to the strict rules that some people force on games, and it can just be an experience in a virtual world. I guess it sounds kind of silly though, almost like a marketing term.

I loved Carrie's comments about the whole women in video games thing, which was essentially fucking chill out about it. So refreshing to hear. It's so tiring to hear white guys talking about whether something is potentially racist or sexist.

Its not just that. Phil Fish has a history of talking mad yang about stuff for unwarranted reasons. Look at Fez coming to PC after he marched up and down the street about how it was "A console game" that would "never come out for pc"

...until he needed the money. Not to shit on him for wanting his game to do well, but own up and say you were wrong. Hell, he said "PCS ARE FOR SPREADSHEETS" now suddenly they are fit to run his game? But, I dont want to get on another Phil Fish rant, so im just going to leave it there.

I don't know, this "Dumptruck" joke feels really forced to me. Nothing against the name or feature; I just don't find it that funny. Developer reaction was silly and fun but not enough to warrant their extended discussion about it the other day. Just my opinion, of course.
