Well they made a Diablo like game that was palatable to me so maybe they can do the same thing to a MOBA, but that's probably unlikely.

What do you even do in this game? It looks like some sort of enfos/tower defense style thing from the trailer, but they're calling it a MOBA? It's Destiny announcement confusion all over again.

The title feels a little like unfair conjecture that's awaken the MOBA haters. My first reaction (based on the title) was to scoff, but the game doesn't appear to be a simple MOBA+FPS, like the article suggests. I'm no fan of Borderlands, but folks should probably understand what something is, before they start hating on it.

Here's a good article on the subject:

I like the character designs, and I like M83.

That's about all I can say from this trailer.

@bacongames: In the last four years, Gearbox has developed two of the worst-reviewed games of all time and one sequel that was merely disappointing. Is there any reason not to expect more of the same here?

I would argue yes. They've been around longer than four years, and the two absolute atrocities they've churned out were games they got saddled with after years of botched development and unstintingly high expectations. DNF was never going to be a good game. A:CM was never going to be a good game. Gearbox just happened to be the ones that had the brilliant idea that they should be the ones to develop/release those inevitable atomic bombs of poor execution.

I know it's waaay too early to judge but fuck it, I'll say it anyway.

This game doesn't look like it deserves a trailer so good. The character design seems so damn generic to me, and really -- a MOBA? (sigh). Oh, plus the logo for the name itself looked like garbage. At least in 2D and white.

But yeah, the trailer rocked. Fantastic choice of music with a well edited cut.

Was curious about this new title until hearing the MOBA part, definitely not something I enjoy playing so now wondering if this will do good for Gearbox or if they just got lucky with Borderlands (on gameplay & design) with a lot of their other stuff being rather average on the fun from the titles I've played. Time will tell.

Borderlands was a mediocre enough shooter without adding a fuck-tonne of systems for the sake of having a fuck-tonne of systems, which seems to be all that differentiates 'MOBAs' from... fuck, I dunno, Mario Party? Great, a shitty-feeling, first-person, hobby-grade Mario Party with tangos.

And they stood behind those games and sold them at full price while acting like they were worth peoples money. Even if they've done better in the past it shows they don't really have respect for their fans which I find disturbing.

This does look pretty hobby-grade.
