I am so ready for this game.

Edit: I'm really curious to see how bullet-time plays out in multiplayer. Does time slow for all players involved, or does the person activating bullet-time appear to be moving much faster than normal?

Multiplayer isn't really necessary for Max Payne, but this looks like good fun. The way they were showing "Gang Wars" with dudes running into the open doesn't seem like the way a person would play a shooter, especially with characters being so fragile.

Bullet time in multiplayer is something I've done a lot of thinking about. It's high time someone approached it with a little more cleverness than F.E.A.R. 2's clunky "UM OKAY WHEN YOU PRESS THIS BUTTON EVERYONE ON THE MAP SLOWS DOWN LOL" solution.

Probably one of the few that saw the screenshot image on the main page of this with the payne killer text, read it way too fast & started wanting a new painkiller game:P. So if the everyone in the game saved up the bullet time, using it all at once in the same room, it might be rather interesting though hard to tell if it's lag or bullet time.

The Specalists mod for Half Life 1 had bullet time in multiplayer and that was like 10 years ago already.

I gotta say in fact, Max Payne 3 here, looks alot like The Specalists mod except you know...better looking and stuff.

Also, dual SMGs.

This kind of multiplayer bullet time worked just fine in The Specialists. Though everyone within range reap the benefits of bullet time, the one who activates it has a slight advantage as he is the only one ready for when it'll kick in.

I'm surprised no game (that I know of) has copied it until now.

Only players in your line of sight apparently which seems like the smartest solution. Then again, I'm guessing that you're vulnerable to anyone behind you moving at full speed as you seemed to be slowed down also.

It'll probably look a little hokey, but it seems like the best solution to the problem.

Still confused over the bullet time stuff in a multiplayer game. Also I don't care for a mp in Max Payne. I want' to eat pain pills and shoot bad guys.

Yup... I really thought they would move. Rockstars games tend to be the ones that seels the best during may BUT in competition with Diablo 3/bliazzard I think it's Max that has to move date this time around.

Ow wow, I didn't get that from the movie but that actually makes a lot of sense. I thought it was more that people in the LoS of the guy starting it would go into bullet mode, but that would be weird for that enemy coming from behind.

Fucking nice. This looks like it'll become my next go-to third person shooter! I've gotten worn out with Uncharted 3, so it'll be nice to have something else to fall back on soon for my competitive urges.

It's funny when people don't understand why bullet time is so difficult to achieve in multiplayer.

"Just make the guy using bullet time appear faster to everyone else, duh"

Me and friend of mine used to argue about this all the time and it was so difficult to explain to him how that was a physical impossibility within the realms of reality and not a matter of "netcode and stuff"

Just make everything else move super slow other than the people in bullet time.

The Specialists was one of the greatest mods, pour some out for the source version that never was.

Man, I was already sold on Max Payne 3's single player. Multiplayer is like bullets of icing raining down on a delicious cake.

I hope there's a Free For All Death Match. That's always my preferred game type.

The Specialists mod for Half-Life 1 did that, and it wasn't difficult at all. It in fact, worked brilliantly.

Bullet-time was basically a 30-second item/powerup anyone could pick up around the map, and it basically had everyone within a set radius of the powerup user would go into slow-motion, with the user being allowed to aim/move /shoot a set rate a little bit quicker than everyone else. You could obviously still be killed as other players could still move and aim and shoot, but they would do so significantly slower.

Not sure if Max Payne 3 will do the exact same, but I thought that was a good way to incentivize it as a powerup for a singular bullet-time user (or even a team of users).

If you had bullet time, then players in your line of sight are only going to be affected. Players behind you and to the sides of you will still be going at regular speed, those in front of you will slow down.

You can already see a basic strategy of this in this video, activate bullet time when your enemy's have their backs to you so they don't have enough time to turn and shoot.

I still can't decide whether to get it for PC or 360. I usually get games for the 360 if I'm interested in the MP for it, since my friends are on the 360. In this case, I don't know how the PC community will be (new PC gamer), but the graphics are supposed to be better. One comes out the 15th, the other the 29th. Any suggestions, advice?
