Oh thank goodness

edit: nevermind

World of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck was the superior of the two genesis classics. They need to remake that one.

Edited by DeadeyeMcCoy

Oh boy, another Disney platformer remake?!

Yep, this is accurate and oddly ignored.

Woah, that's the craziest title for a Quick Look I've seen. ha.

Punctuation?

Guess who that narrator is?

This guy.

Loving the title

Edited by MasonL87

Oh God, the ears. They always are flat to the camera! I can't NOT notice it! Gah!!

Posted by OptimalPower

Not sure if I'm alone in this, but I'd be much more interested if this was World of Illusion.

Edited by sub_o

Sad to hear that the jumping is laggy in this game.

Posted by MysteriousBob

Not alone at all, World was much better. One of the best coop games ever. I'd also love a Quackshot remake.

Also in regards to the boss, haven't played this myself, can't you just duck under that glove?

Victor "Goddamn" Sullivan

Edited by TheMasterDS

Wow, this game seems awful. They really want 15 dollars for this? Are people are willing to pay that?

Edited by beeryayghost

what the fuck is up with the title holy shit starring me.

Does it bother anyone else that there's no colon after the Quick Look in the title?

Duck?

Edited by LarryDavis

Soo... Is this going to be what everyone wanted that Ducktales game to be?

Early reports say yes. Haven't heard anything about the jumping being laggy as Brad says.

Posted by Crowson

I haven't played this one, but in the original, I think you had to duck under the glove.

Posted by Quantris

@crowson: it was painfully obvious that ducking under the glove was the way to go here too.

Posted by icytower38

That's one odd title

Posted by EternalGamer2

@sub_o: It is impossible to know whether that is the case or not, though. Same as with Rayman Legends. I don't know if just the act of trying to QL while playing makes it that much more difficult or these two are just not very good at platformers, but whatever the case, it seems pretty clear to me they take it out on the games. They miss one jump or have trouble with one section and suddenly the mechanic is unpleasant, the boss fight is unfair, or the jump is laggy. It's more annoying than that friend you had that always complained about the controller not working right cause these guys carry clout when they say this bullshit.

Yup. Now that can't be unseen.

Posted by JDW519

I want an HD version of Maui Mallard, that game was so much fun. If they keep remaking their old platformers maybe it'll happen...

Posted by gesi1223

The Magical Quest games should be remade. Those are truly the ones that give me the most nostalgia, so they are better. Plus they're genuinely good games despite nostalgia

What's up with the title of this video? :O

Edited by wumbo3000

I think this is the first quick look ever in which the title isn't "Quick Look: Title of Game"

Edited by PollySMPS

How do I avoid the punch?

*spend a lot of time in the next level ducking*

Nope, not seeing it!

Dat's my Brad. :)

Edited by Ehker

When Drew speaks they still at first repeat what he says thinking we can't hear it. :)

You could hear it in the video. Brad hits jump and there's a huge delay. Go to 17:30, and turn up the volume.

It could be their equipment, but that delay Brad had to put up was HUUUUUUGGGEE.

Posted by Wago

Wonderful music in this game, can't beat good old Grant Kirkhope, I guess.

Posted by jpratt85

Is it me, or does the narrator at the beginning sound a lot like the narrator from 500 Days of Summer?

Posted by sadsadsad

meanwhile over at the steam forums

"...the game is unplayable because of the input lag (~0.5 seconds)"

Another quality Sega release?

Wow - can they redo this QL using the duck button, geez! The original had the same delayed jumping mechanic and it played just fine on the Sega Genesis.

It's just Brad being Brad at Video Games again.

But uh, that laggy jump doesn't look like a "mechanic," at least in this version.

Edited by HerbieBug

2 minutes 40 seconds to Brad.

Original game had far superior animation. I know you can say since this is 3D and the animation is more fluid it's better, but no. Take a look at the original game. There was a lot of really well made stuff, like the basic jump animation, that gave the game a really nice responsive feel to play. This just looks... plain.

edit--- Yeah this looks like it was put together by people who don't understand why 2D platformers are still popular. Whole bunch of bells and whistles trying to make it look like something entirely different than what it is.

Edited by PLWolf

Playing this on PS3 and got the original as a preorder bonus two weeks ago. Even after all these years after playing this on Genesis I knew to duck. I know you guys play 360 because of your setup, and what not, but it plays great on PS3.

Duder, again, go to 17:30 and listen to that click delay. This has nothing to do with Brad. I know I couldn't play with that crap.

What system is this on? The graphics or something about the art looks pretty...rough

Edited by RobertOrri

Holy crap, the jumping sounds terrible.

This was developed by Sega Studios Australia (also known as The Creative Assembly Australia), which SEGA announced they were closing down later this year. Guess there won't be a patch!

Posted by Zolfe

I've never played this game or the original, but i'm pretty sure that you have to duck at that boss.

Brad ducks a bunch of times during other levels and when jeff was making Mickey breakdance, he got mickey to duck a couple times, I was hoping for a euraka from Jeff or Brad upon seeing the duck animation, but it never occured :(

Yeah, after looking at the Steam Forums it does seem to be an excessive delay on the jumping. But - I still vividly remember the original game having very "floaty" controls back in the day. Should be an easy patch to tighten up the controls - dontcha think?

Posted by LibrorumProhibitorum

Not sure how I feel about that spring punch attack. It should be telegraphed because of the design of the jump, but how to dodge the attack is also inconsistent. Even when dodging the attack Mickey was still kinda clipping through the glove so it may be an animation which takes its hitbox with it? I'm not too sure.

Seems to be some issue with how the game runs in full screen (on pc), people saying running it in windowed mode gets rid of the awful lag, and saying it forces 24hz refresh at full screen. Maybe the same thing is true of the 360 version but there you have no ability to change that.

I'd be interested to see if the same thing is true for the ps3 version.

Posted by 617_jbug

The original version of the game was a preorder bonus for PS3.

Edited by Razor

The best, only 2 min 30 seconds into it and Brad runs under the shadow of the jack-in-the-box and gets hit, 5 seconds later, he lost all 3 hearts and dies.

BRAD DOTO = BEST DOTO
