The lack of a space after the second colon in the title is making my eye twitch.

This feature is great :)

Edited by Reasonableman

You guys should play Gamma World. That game is straight up awesome.

I severely recommend you guys listening to the Harmontown podcast for some real awesome DnD.

Multiple DM's can help this interparty strife.

I'm with you Dave. If I saw a giant lobster I'd be on the lookout for a Piscoloth.

So in the game I am running the party was attacked while traveling in a stagecoach type transportation. The fighter leaps to the other "vehicle" to attack the crossbowmen on top. Then the oracle in the party thought it was a good idea to cast "burning hands" on said transportation...and he wonders why the fighter almost died.

I love pen and paper.

@evolvedtolive: DnD failed to be awesome after the release of 4.0. DnD Next looks to be the same level of unawesomeness. When I hear kids say they like it now because it reminds them of MMOs I just shake my head in disbelief.

Oh Goodie! was so bummed when i missed this!

Posted by GasparNolasco

@sammo21: I don't get the hate for 4e. It's streamlined, simpler and more well balanced than 3 and 3.5. I never liked MMOs but, if using MMO-like systems benefits the game, I don't see how that's bad.

Not to mention 3rd edition and Pathfinder still exist. Nobody has to update to 4e if they don't want to.

It's obvious VBomb is playing the Game of Thrones. You either win, OR YOU DIE.

Edited by Targov

Who needs TV when you have giantbomb.com?

The sheer amount of content produced by these guys on a weekly basis is staggering.

I honestly have a hard time keeping up with it, but man do I love the smiles and laughs it brings me.

Posted by mrfluke

this is a fascinating feature.

cause we're watching awesome people play dungeons and dragons. and the weirdest part is that it works!, and its good content!.

If pizza the hut were a concept, then this would be its physical form.

Detroit Jones is a rogue-ass rogue.

The tension between them in this one is great! Everyone turning on each other.

Edited by Xanadu

I feel like I haven't seen the guys this giddy in a while. It's good to see :)

Posted by meteora3255

@xanadu: I was really unsure of how this feature would turn out. I knew Rorie would be into it and Vinny would make it fun but I didn't know if the other guys would really get into it. Now that they have an idea of what they are doing it really seems like they are having fun and I hope this can become the new TNT.

Glad you guys are enjoying this stuff. Now I just need to start poking around for something to do next week after they kill this dragon. If we start a new campaign, I'm going to do my best to try and make it a fair bit harder for these guys in any given combat.

@rorie I hope it's ok do give you some GM Tips. Some of the rolls you should do for them without them seeing. Like perception checks and find trap checks ... That way they don't know whats going on and you don't get those "I check for traps 15 times" situations.

woooo

Don't be a dick to Ian. I know it was a joke, but it was awkward. He knows his stuff and is cool.

No, no worries. One of the big problems is that I don't have room for a DM screen on the table. Would definitely like to solve that problem going forward. As it is I try to make it pretty obvious in my body language when something is pointless for them to attempt.

This is the best thing since Chrono Trigger! :D

@sil3n7: Not sure what you're referring to (actually maybe I do), but I think Ian knows it's all in good fun when we razz him a bit. He's like 10 years younger than everyone else at the table so we're going to haze him a bit here and there.

@rorie what if you picked random people from the stream to play NPCs or monsters?

Edited by ThePantheon

MY FAVOURITE NEW THING!! LOVE THIS!

Posted by Draxyle

I've never quite understood how pen and paper D&D was played until these videos. I didn't realize how fast and loose you could run them.

Either way, this has been surprisingly fun to watch. I wasn't entirely on board at first, but this series is growing on me. Can't wait to see where things go from here.

Yeah, a screen would really help you. Btw. from what I understand this is one of your first times being a DM, you are doing a really good job to make it entertaining for your players and us :)

Looks like the makings for a pretty righteous box fort behind Vinny and Ian.

Some major collusion going on here.

Great show, best one so far for sure.

Rorie is getting smoother and more on the ball as a DM. Players that were more passive before are finally starting to get into roleplaying (Brad/Drew). Better familiarity with rules all around is making people more confident in participating.

I had one suggestion (since you guys are planning to move this beyond the one starter scenario) it would be that Rorie possibly read through the rulebooks and learn some more, it would help out to have greater confidence in who can do what, what should they roll for stuff what abilities they can use, for greater variety and also to speed things along. That's what I'd do anyway :)

Also, don't make the stream a player character, that's just a bad idea all around, it will take forever, have no personality of his own and be generally awkward to work around imo.

Posted by Grondoth

@draxyle: Rules are there so that you have an understanding of how things should work, and so it's a live game everyone is participating in. The skill of a DM is learning just how many of those your players want to use, and pretending you still care about the ones they don't.

Posted by JRM

Yep, agree with 2HeadedNinja Rorie, you're keeping this shit moving and entertaining.

Posted by Capum15

I popped in I'm guessing about half way. Apparently V-Bomb was about to throw Brad or something, and decided to stop watching so I could watch the whole thing in one glorious run at a later time. Now is that time.

Posted by axf4ever

love watching this, id love too see another campaign

Edited by The_Vein

@rorie: I have a very large repository of Pathfinder adventure path campaigns I could send your way if you're interested.

Posted by MosaicM80

I've said it before, but just wanted to say again I'm really enjoying this feature! I wish Jeff would get in on this but I understand it's not his thing. I've heard Gamma World is a whole lotta fun, it's more modern with some crazy abilities, but will be happy to see more Pathfinder too.

My suggestion regarding the final few minutes of discussion about how to expand this feature is don't. It's amazing as is and adding a chat feature will slow it down and reduce the amount of fun banter available. Giant Bomb's best videos are always when it's just the guys doing dumb stuff. Please keep it that way!

Giant Bomb, alongside a couple of supplementary YouTube channels, has completely replaced my TV usage. Unless they start showing 2 hour long, uninterrupted shows of video games and other cool stuff on TV (unlikely) I don't see that changing.

Posted by budgietheii

Don't replace the last Canadians. I want to know about their continuing adventures!
