Grand Theft Auto Online Looks Absolutely Insane

Seems like the trailer is running on a PC rig yet there's no announcement yet.

Remember RDR's frame rate? Yeah there's plenty of reason to be concerned.

Will probably be a bunch of boring idiots endlessly treating it like deathmatch. GTA IV and RDR multiplayer looked promising at one point too.

Coming to PC later this year as Nvidia has a deal set up with Rockstar for it to be another one of those "The way it's meant to be played" games.

This might just be the solution to the problem I have with just about every single open world game I've ever played. Once you finish all the story missions they become absolutely boring, and things like horde modes and tacked on multiplayer do very little to keep me interested.

I hope people don't get fooled and buy the Xbox 360/PS3 version expecting the graphics to look like the gameplay trailers.

@sparklemotion: Shaun mcinnis of gamespot , Andy McNamara of Game Informer, And the Folks at CVG said they saw the demos running on PS3 dev kits running smooth and just like we have seen in the gameplay trailer.

I couldn't, just couldn't, get into GTA IV... but V looks much more interesting. The MP is cool and all, but I'm more of a singleplayer guy :)

And I wait for the superior PC version, if Rockstar ever decides we PC gamers are worth the effort, that is.

From a visual stand point, that looked great. But gameplay wise, I'm not sure if that's what I'm coming to GTA for.

This needs to come out for PC, I decided I'm not buying a new console atleast for a while because of all this E3 business and it's put me off buying games for the 360 since it wont be backwards compatible.

You don't come to GTA for an vast and detailed open world with a ton of activities to do in it? What else would you come to it then?

L.A. Noire basically had almost nothing going on at any given moment.

No idea if this will all pan out, but if the co-op heist work then that's good enough for me.

So they finally decided to turn Multi Theft Auto into an actual game mode. Very excited, this looks like what I always envisioned what an online GTA would look like.

Oh my god, I know sacrifices have gotta be made, but man, those textures.

Especially after the last console game I played was The Last of Us, this looks like ass in comparison.

I just hope it runs okay and is fun.

Will wait for the PC version now. Till then I got a lot of games to go through.

I have a hard time buying into the hype here. The online features for RDR and GTA IV sounded pretty amazing, but the players basically turned the open world mode into nothing but an excuse for one big deathmatch.. So there was nothing unique or different about it.

It's definitely cool in theory, I just don't think the player base is mature enough to make something like this work, unless they have some pretty clever systems in place to encourage players to co-operate and not just shoot everything on sight.

AFAIK RDR and LA Noire were made by different studios than GTA 5.

This "matter of fact", point by point explanation of the fundamentals of Grand Theft Auto is increasingly.. bizarre. I keep thinking they're going to lead into satire, but they don't at all. It's such a turn from the PS2 GTA's for how they're selling this.

I didn't like GTAIV as much for their move away from humor, and I have to wonder if this is going the same direction as that. Hard to tell, though I suppose Saint's Row has taken up that baton instead.

Don't give a flying pig shit until it comes to PC. If it comes to PC (sorry, I don't trust that Nvidia thing even if it seems fairly solid) at all.

Rockstar did a pretty piss poor job with the GTAIV PC port, but Max Payne was pretty good port wise. So that may not be an issue this go round. Plus, the modding community has basically made GTAIV (and the other games) incredible and fodder for machiniminimimama everywhere.

Plus, fuck you Rockstar for never bringing RDR to PC.

Rockstar, consistently going above and beyond fan expectations. Stuff that would be its own trailer from other companies is just a quick mention from them.

We will see how this all works in practice, since GTAIV's online looked amazing as well but you could blow through all the co-op stuff in less than an hour, the sandbox was undercooked and the games core mechanics were not tight enough to keep the other modes interesting after a week.

Red Dead Redemption however made improvements in leaps and bounds over GTAIV and GTAV is building a lot on top of that, so fingers crossed.

The SR framerate is shitty because your character can fly through the city, jump over huge buildings and run way faster than the cars and consoles struggle to stream the detail of the open world it fast enough. You don't have this in GT5. The closest you can get is getting in a plane and then you are so high up that I imagine the texture detail is reduced so it doesn't matter as much.

Also its a different, way better developer.

I actually think it's really quite brilliant that this won't be ready until a couple weeks after the game comes out, intentional or not. It will ensure that more people actually play the story before jumping into the multiplayer. So many people never even touch the campaign of Call of Duty games these days.

Agreed. As soon as I saw the 16 player limit, I became a whole bunch less interested in this. Like, zero interest.
