I think a part of the blame for all these band specific games must fall on the bands themselves
(or their rights holder). Most of them won't sell the copyrights unless they get their own name on the box. Damn rockstars and their egos. :(

I don't mind them pushing out these games because it's really specific to certain fans, but what annoys me is that the song lists get shorter and shorter, I mean this has less then 50 songs, that's just stupid, there are plenty of songs to fill it up...

Every band and artist ever needs there own individual Guitar Hero or Rock Band game!

The reason that The Beatles are in their own standalone game rather than DLC is very simple: That is the only way in which Apple Corps would EVER EVER EVER allow Beatles music to be put into a video game. They won't even allow the songs to be downloaded through any digital music store. There's only one to get Beatles music, no matter what: on disc. Same for game, as with the music.

The reason the Beetles Rock Band is being a seperate release is that yes they are upgrading the visuals and such, but they are also adding new play mechanics such as three way harmonies.  You cant exactly release that as DLC or a patch, so a full new release is justified.

I think this is just too late. The GH franchise will probably run itself into the ground soon anyway, there's too much that's too similar at the same time. I'll stick to the numbered GH's and Rock Band. Then again I've never gotten the point of band specific GH's.

Activision and Neversoft are milking the franchise. This is just getting ridiculous now. 25 Van Halen songs in a game called Guitar Hero: Van Halen? For $60?

Just release a fucking DLC pack.

Looks like more of the some ol' same ol' from Activision.  I've just lost interest in the Guitar Hero series, which dropped a good chunk of soul and polish when it switched developers.  And of course Activision has since milked the series dryer than a mummy's teat.  I hear that GH:Metallica was a marked improvement for the series (haven't played it), so maybe the games are on an upswing.  But compared to the amazing, unique footage from Beatles Rock Band, this just pales in comparison.  The Harmonix team has come up with some beautiful stuff that fits the band and the songs.  Neversoft really needs to get a new art team on these games, because all their "real" rock stars just look creepy-gross, and the overall look and feel of the games has been pretty rough.

Wow, that looks simply awful.  However, I can understand why the band looks so weird; they are some ugly dudes in real life.  The more they cariacaturize them, the better.

I can't believe anyone would have a problem with a Guitar Hero game featuring Van Fucking Halen. Eddie is THE Guitar Hero, he changed everything. 

On a side note 50 songs for $60 doesn't seem that bad to me. Better than DLC pricing, that is for sure.

I would not be surprised if we started seeing titles like GH: Foo Fighters, GH: Green Day or GH: DragonForce soon.
