@demonicgoblin: Heat Signature's still goin', he updates on Twitter at @Heatsig

Sounds like Floating Point was something he did for a game jam and decided to expand a bit into a release

Not quite sure what this is, but I'm on board it's created by the guy behind Gunpoint. Checking it out now.

*edit* Played about 20 minutes. I'm surprised how good this is. It's simple to learn, but has a lot of depth if you want to rack up a lot of points. It's extremely satisfying when you get a nice long chain going smoothly. This is something I would pay a few dollars for. Can I pay him anyway? I can't review it after 20 minutes, but it's great.

Is it just me, or does the look seem oddly ominous and dark for something that seems so free-form and relaxing?

I wonder if this is him doing basically a public mechanics demo; I recall from his development of Gunpoint he highly praised the results he got from sort of "shotgun testing" the game, throwing out demos and things to see if they stuck, wanting to make sure the core mechanics felt good before getting too invested. This could be a subtle gameplay test.

I mean this as a positive, as a note -- I think it's a great thing to do, and I can see just chilling out in this game a fair bit over the weekend as a good way to just pass the time. So if he gets more design feedback out of it for another project he's on, then righteous.

I would have gladly waited and paid for a version of that game with actual art, but it's very cool nonetheless. Try it!

I would have paid money for this game, enjoyable simple little time sink.

I wonder if he's going to port it to ios/android, the control scheme would work

Pretty much, though maybe more just because it fit rather than for testing specifically. He stated in a video I believe, that the grappling hook mechanic actually came from a separate game he's been working on for quite some time. As @jeverage pointed out, Floating Point started as a game jam project and he just pulled the grappling hook bit from the other game in development.
