Here Are the First 'Few' Minutes of BioShock: Infinite

Few, in this case, translates to just over five minutes. No noteworthy spoilers here, but if you're one of those purists, approach with caution. Or don't. I'm not the boss of you. Do whatever you want. I'm just trying to help, okay?

What I don't get is; if you're going to buy this game why wouldn't you just wait until it comes out?

Curious as to which version of the game this was. A silky smooth framerate is so hard to find nowadays on consoles..

@Spitznock: Judging by the placeholder image on the movie, Xbox 360? Not sure though, haven't watched it yet.

If I'm already interested in the game, why would I watch this? And why would anyone not interested in the game watch this?

Very impressed. Similar to the opening sequence of Bioshock, but including all the religious knick knacks especially intrigues me as to what social issues this game approaches.

Not gonna watch this, but if it's on the level of BioShock 1's it should be slick and memorable. I really love everything they have shown so far to the point where I wish I knew nothing other than the fact that it is the sequel to BioShock and that it is also totally different in a lot of ways. While I am a bit disappointed they baby-fied Liz for whatever dumb reason, this still is shaping up to be fucking fantastic.

I wish more movies and video games switch to using a southern American accent for their characters. I am bored of English accents. Don't know about the rest but i love how the actors speak in Justified.

Really dislike what 2K is doing to market this game, the best thing about Bioshock was the wonder going in. All that seems to be lost with Infinite, all they had to do to market it was have Bioshock in the title.

Yeah I wonder if it's a coincidence the religious are in the clouds and the atheists are at the bottom of the sea, is this Ken Levines social commentary on heaven and hell?

I wonder if they will have the graphics options that Bioshock 1 had on Xbox, it was like better graphics or better framerate, maybe the only game I can think of on consoles that had graphics settings.

Where does Booker keep that wooden box?

I also like that he twisted his head all the way around in the chair.

Strictly speaking, isn't it almost exactly 5 minutes? There were like 33 seconds worth of splash screens after all.

Spoiler Alert: You go to a floating city.

I don't know if the first few minutes of a game can ever really be called a spoiler.

Very reminiscent of the original BioShock.

Did anyone else find that dialogue extremely awkward though? The delivery seems fine, but it sounds like it was written in a way that people don't naturally speak. Also, what's the deal with the other two people in the boat not really acknowledging the presence of Booker and not directly addressing him? Is Booker a ghost or robot or something?

Anyone else get a big Shutter Island vibe out of this vid? I'm interested, but it will be hard for them to pull a twist like they did the first game... but hopefully will have a better resolution.

The frame-rate looks nice. Makes me think this is the PC version with an Xbox controller plugged in.

They are talking to themselves and have actual brains that function on their own and don't revolve around the player character. Almost no video games do this, and most if not all lines of dialog spoken is usually directly pointed at the player or what the player should be doing next, or exposition. If anything this is more natural to have people that are interesting just talk to eachother, it allows you to fall into a world you want to be interested in instead of just having the world beg you to care. They talk about and to booker a few times, they are just wrapped up in themselves at the moment. They are after all tasked with bringing this dude via boat to this remote location.

yes. i dont like a completely silent protaganist but the mono-logging was a little silly. "guess they want me to sit in this chair..." then he acts shocked as the clamps come on his hands. and the other characters in the boat sounded cartoonish. of course im still looking forward to this regardless and we're probably being over critical and too nostalgic with the first bioshock. i should go back and watch the opening to it...

Am I the only one getting a clear Close Encounters of the Third Kind allusion with the play and response of the bells and the foghorns?

And obviously it is the chair he is strapped to that is doing the 360.

It is meant to be off-putting. The not directly addressing Booker, the English accents in Maine, the near nonsensical conversation (why can't Booker row?), etc.

It's not too bad, but the opening to BioShock is pretty close to perfect, so anything that isn't flawless here stands out.

I imagine the moment right after the trailer cuts out is pretty special though. I can't wait to see that in action.

I appreciate the coverage but I don't want to watch the video. There are few games to which I enforce on myself a total media blackout. This is one such game. I want to be surprised with everything!
