I am not so sure, I have always loved being the only hero in the Elder Scrolls games. Plus I am kinda done on mmo's, I don't have the spare time needed to do well in them.

Thing that makes Elder Scrolls great is the persistence of the world... taking over someone's home and making it your own. Wondering over the hill and finding that guy's body that you killed 100 hours ago...

None of that will be in this.. and without that... this is just a re-skinned LOTRO, using the SWTOR engine.. which doesnt look that great.

This isn't your Skyrim teaser trailer when everyone came in their pants that's for sure.

There were some leaked scans on reddit of the Game Informer preview, and it essentially looked like WoW in Tamriel. Hot-key based not action-based, third-person not first-person. A large part of the preview was spent explaining why the core tenants of TES wouldn't work in an MMO, and then giving bullshit excuses.

I still haven't played Skyrim...

And is your user icon from some visual novel or am I wrong? Could've sworn I've seen it before and I THINK it was also in the context of an user icon.

I'm gonna pretend to be a wizard for a minute here and predict that this will be just another terribly generic fantasy MMO like every other released in the last couple years.

Any MMO that started conception during the peak of WoW's popularity has the same basic structure and just end up being boring.

Great if i'm wrong but this industry is so predictable this generation that i won't get my hopes up.

Not much of a trailer. At least they had some text in it so I would actually know what game it is for.

The world is full of MMOs with a generic fantasy setting. This is looking like more on the same...

Don't get too excited. The game is being developed by Zenimax Online with Bethesda only providing lore. Zenimax has already said this would be a WOW like MMO in terms of mechanics. A couple interesting things in there, but mostly it sounds pretty by the book, which is not what will capture what is fun about the Elder Scrolls series. I guess it might be pretty cool to see all of Tamriel in one place though.

This game is unnecessary in my opinion. If this was to be done right, it would have to be a very ambitious attempt at redefining the mmo genre in terms of crafting a living and breathing world instead of the standard dead and static world.

Read some additional details over at Polygon. Apparently it is third-person and uses hotbar-activated skills. Already, it is shaping up to be extremely far removed from what makes the Elder Scrolls the Elder Scrolls. It's going to be really hard for them to sell me on a standard MMO.

That was, as I expected, extremely uninformative. I wouldn't really call it a teaser. Or a trailer. It's just a thing.

Well I, for one, look forward to seeing how this pans out. I've always wished I could go questing through the Elder Scrolls universe with a party of my friends, so to me, this seems like a good fit. Here's hoping it turns out good!

Boring trailer indeed.

Having seen the leaked scans, I can say that this looks and reads like TOR but in a generic fantasy setting. Third person perspective, hotkey bar for attacks, no player housing, class based leveling, the whole works.

For a moment, a moment, I was a little excited for this. That was when I thought it would be like the other ES games, but with multiplayer and all the rest. Now I think it will be a disappointment at best.

Will see if this ever comes to consoles--the thing about MMO's is that they are mostly PC, interesting considering how their recent success has been at home.

Meh... I liked Skyrim (even though i played it on the PS3, before all the patching) but this trailer/teaser/whatever was horrible. With so many MMOs out there, this video doesn't help them make their case for why people should care about it.

Definitely what they were aiming for but they missed that mark by a mile. Similar music. Similar narration but nowhere near as impactful. Lighting doesn't strike twice.

This trailer is likely only out now as damage limitation due to the leak.
