The crash in the demo was too damn cringe worthy.

I really like the use of the Dialogue to move some of the stalking mechanics without the interface blaring in your face. Looks like another assassin's creed game, for whatever that's worth.

Not falling for it again. AC3 looked great, had positive buzz and Ryan gave it a good 4 star review but it was by far the worst game I played in 2012.

Looks okay, I guess.

Liked AC1 more than most people, really liked AC2, loved Brotherhood, didn't care for Revelations, completely soured on AC3.

I think AC4 is, at best, a rental.

Assassin's Creed 3 was a bad game, yo.

Edited by Landmine

I'm not sure I want to return to this series.

It would be cool to have the crash narrated though....

I find it sad that the opinion of AC3 has gone from it being merely disappointing to apparently being one of the worst games of last year.

It certainly had it's issues (lazy side-mission design, frustrating full-sync requirements and the poor resolution to the Desmond plot), but at its core it was still, at the very least, a decent game. It just didn't live up to the standards of it's predecessors (namely 2 and Brotherhood.) It's certainly not as aggressively terrible as some would have you believe.

If they can address some of the issues, I'm pretty sure Black Flag will be a perfectly fine (albeit not an exemplary) game. Basically, put in more of the naval stuff, less of the lazily designed side-quest stuff and completely ignore (or sideline) the modern-day and instead focus on Edward's story and they'd be well on their way to making it a better game than 3.

I've also got to say that the seamless transition between the on-foot and naval gameplay is really impressive.

i had heard of something crashing during the playthrough but did not see anything that i noticed when i was watching it live so i had to go and watch the youtube video of this. now i know why i thought i did not notice anything it is because i thought it was just the live stream skipping, felt sorry for the dude playing. then i see the battlefield one oh boy what a disaster that was

after watching this all i can think about is one thing i have noticed of these next gen games, and that is the hair tec still looks bad , come on next gen i want me some flowing locks obstructing my eyes.

Edited by LiquidElite

@aishan: agree with you buddy, AC3 was not by any stretch one of the worst games of that year. people tend to get overly "passionate" :P

Edited by anzejk

@aishan: I haven't played AC3 (i didn't really want to) but this one looks really, really interesting. I really wanna play it, BAD! Let's just hope they don't fuck it up. :)

It is said that Blackbeard was born in my home town, so I may have to give this a try.

I really enjoyed the first two AC games and then I kinda got bored of the formula and completely stayed away from 3. Hopefully there is a little more diversity here.

At this point I think I'd be far more interested if this was some sort of new pirate based IP!

Edited by Elwoodan

The Ship stuff in three was really fun, so I'm all in for this. It from what I understand there are 2 AC teams to enable them to make a new one every year, so maybe this team will fix the stuff the AC3 team got wrong?

Also, to be fair, my AC3 playthrough was nearly bug/crash free, so I actually enjoyed parts of it quite a bit.

Posted by Slax

AC3 wasn't great. But overall I still enjoyed the open-world nature of it. There was still stuff to find, dudes to kill, and most importantly boats to...boat. I'm probably in for another one.

I thought the first AC had some great aspects to it, but I thought just going through the main story was kind of dull, and I initially felt as if the story didn't really go anywhere until the very end, but once going back into it (though not finishing it again) after I played AC2 and Brotherhood, there's some story stuff in it that you may have forgotten which makes it a little better. I think AC2 and Brotherhood are superb; I didn't initially think AC2 was superb, but I did think the ending was interesting.

I thought Revelations was really great, but not quite as good as the previous two (which isn't saying much). When it came to Assassin's Creed 3, that game is the lower half of 'fair' to me, with only a few good aspects: a twist early on; a sad death; a nice intro in the theater (aside from people being oblivious to you as you climb around it), and an overall great soundtrack, though nothing plays as you simply roam, but other than that, I thought it was poor. A huge disappointment three was to me.

As for this game, I want to be excited, and it's too bad one game will make me almost completely uninterested in a sequel, but three did that. Now, I'm curious about this, but I'm also being cautious. Some have said it runs at 60 frames per second on next-gen, but what I've read is that it runs at a really smooth 30. I do hope this game is good so I can be back on board with the series, even though one of the main games was poop.

I wonder who's doing the soundtrack to this one. This honestly just looks like an updated version to a current-console game, which is actually nice. It may not be up to the standards, or expectations of what next-gen hardware can do, but it's at least most likely the version to play compared to the PS3 or 360 versions.

Haven't played any AC games, but have to say this looks kind of interesting. I'm a sucker for pirates and taking over ships and all that. No way I'm going to go play the whole series just to play this game though, if this game stands on it's own and isn't confusing to new players then maybe I'll give it a try.

Lol, so the video definitely stopped half way through....

He doesn't seem to be a very happy narrator.

I want to play a great pirate action game! This looks good, especially the ships. I'm just a little confused that the Assassin's Creed franchise is bringing me the pirate game I always wanted. So strange. Could be my first AC game.

Edited by RavenShade83

@msavo: If that was the worst game you played in 2012, you had a damn good year. I agree it was the worst in the series, but it was way better than most games.

Posted by mrfizzy

I think the narrator should have tried to be more deadpan and unexcited, just to see if that was possible. Also does anyone else get shitty with exploding cannonballs? The're balls of lead, how do they explode!?!?!?

I love that this is an homage to Wind Waker, so I'm down.

Posted by GunsAreDrawn

I was done with this series after Brotherhood. AC2 ended with letting a certain guy live, then the start of Brotherhood is like, "hey, we have to kill him this time." It didn't help that I played them one after another, losing all your equipment and having to start from the bottom again was rather annoying, and I felt like the combat was slightly dumbed down, too.

Posted by Wonloong

Everything moved way too fast. Maybe I'm just old, but I like a more methodical gameplay. That ship steering was really hard to believe when it's moving that quickly.

Posted by Korolev

That ship is turning way too fast.

Posted by Cold_Wolven

This game looks like fun and could be the one to get me back into the series since Brotherhood.

Edited by Jack_Lafayette

Assassin's Creed seems like it could really benefit from improved crowd density/AI on next-gen consoles.

Don't worry, this one doesn't crash halfway through.

BOOM. Shots fired. Salty. etc. etc.

Posted by SHADOWINFINITE

Playstation really worked with ACIV well even when it crashed on them

Posted by MeatSim

It would have been more interesting if the trailer did crash.

Posted by teh_destroyer

I really want to keep on liking this series, but AC3 really bummed me out after how good Brotherhood was.

I'm confused... Do you mean just because there are boats in the game? Honest question, because I don't see it at all.

Oh! That makes a lot more sense, haha. Kind of an interesting little video. Thanks for that!

I don't want any more Assassins Creed.

They should of just dropped the whole animus story and the AC IP and just created a kick ass pirate game.

If I know one thing about pirates, it's that on the sea all your insults and threats have to rhyme.

Posted by TheManWithNoPlan

I somewhat skeptical, I didn't hear any insults during those sword fights.

More good ole pirates? ALWAYS

Posted by Twocifer

I'm torn on this. I was really excited for AC3, first and foremost, because I'm actually a descendant of Gen. Israel Putnam and "meeting" him in the game was a bit surreal. But there were so many flaws with the game that I'm doubtful that I'll ever return to the game (since I did beat the story). Lost intrest in the side missions and achievements.

AC4 looks good, but reminds me of the promo they did for AC3 last summer, and... well......

Pretty much what I was thinking. Just make it a new-gen Sid Meier's Pirates! game and I would be sold.
