Here's Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster in Action

@ike7779: Japanese voice acting is equally melodramatic and cringe-inducing if you understand what's being said. However, it at least makes sense within the context of the game. Given Squeenix's track record, you're probably going to have to buy the region-free Asia version if you want Japanese voice and English subtitles.

Big ol' meh for me. Not a fan of FFX in the slightest. The linearity, cringey writing and awful voice acting really let it down for me. Visually this looks fine, I guess, although this game's art style never really appealed to me. I'm sure it's perfectly adequate for a HD Remaster though. For those who enjoy FFX I'm sure this will be a great way to take a trip down memory lane, though I will stick to the pre-FFX titles myself.

Wait...only FFX HD is coming to the PS3? Why not FFX2 HD?

The only reason FFIV got so much attention is because the director of that game is still at Square.

I guess I should be happy that they haven't tampered with FFVI. FFIV on DS with polygon graphics was an interesting idea, but couldn't ever live up to expectations. No matter what they do, the fans would think it was half-assed. Same thing with FFVII. They will never go through the trouble of remaking the game with lush sprites.

It's the end of a generation. What's the point anymore? Most people I know aren't even going to keep their PS3 by the time the PS4 comes out. This should have been released after XIII as an apology for that pile of shit.

Game will tank because of that and Square will blame gamers instead of themselves. They did it with Hitman and Tomb Raider so they have a good track record.

Fingers crossed. It will almost certainly be the determining factor for me. That crappy melodramatic voice acting makes my skin crawl.

I assume the platinum trophy for this collection is probably going to take a minimum of 120 hours, and I might actually beat FFX-2 this time. I remember disliking that game so much because of how much I enjoyed X. We shall see.

@hurricaneivan29: Definitely. Final Fantasy XII is where it's at. I remember putting off buying a PS3 because I was still playing it.

I'd play this on mah Vita. Had a hard time getting into X when it was new, but I'll give it another go, why not?

I really enjoyed Final Fantasy X and X-2 back in the day. Good times but I doubt that they'd still be as appealing to me nowadays.

You want things that make no money though. They will never do something that loses them money just to please. No dev will do that. An HD version of FFX is possible and enough people are interested to make it work. If you take FFVII for instance, they'd have to start from scratch, because the stuff they have to work with is impossible to create a proper HD version of. They'd have to remake the entire game and then remake it specifically to the way it was? That's a LOT of work that probably costs more time and resources than a full fledged new game.

HD updated versions like this are financially viable. Remakes that recreate the exact experience are not. You won't ever see those remade for that reason.

Yeah, I'm up for another spin of FFX and FFX-2. I remember really digging the dress sphere combat system of FFX-2.

@dagas: You should really give FFXII a whirl. It's deadly slow in the first few hours, but when you leave the initial city and get some party members it really winds up being pretty incredible.

I agree. What they need to do is remake the PS1 games. The PS2 FF games look good enough as they are. But that is most likely why they are choosing FF10, because it looks so good there is not as much work they need to do.

FFX-2 was the last FF I completed. Played all of them since but FFX and X-2 where the last ones I really got into. And FFX-2 not nearly as much as FFX. I played FFX for about 130h. Only FF game I have played more is FF7.

I really will have to get this. I like X a lot. It's amazing how much you wind up caring about what happens at the end considering how bad Tidus (is that his name?)'s voice acting and writing was.

That reminds me I still have my save file on a memory card (remember those?) somewhere with a fully decked out 255 stats party, ready to take on Penance.

I love X - my favorite Final Fantasy! I might get it for Vita, when I finally get my Vita. X-2 was terrible in comparison, I'm sorry... but I will probably play it again. I have no shame.

I don't care about these, but hopefully they sell well enough to maybe open the door for a remastered FF12, you know, the best FF game.

Hell yeah FFX. What an awesome game.

The battle system was incredible, it had amazing music and the ending was brilliant plus Auron is a cool ass motherfucker. Can't wait to play it again!

You know, I actually thought FFXII looked amazing graphically for the ps2. Better than FFX even, I'd say.

never played much of both apart for x-2 a few years ago, did enjoy it somewhat but only for the combat, it made one think of ffv and since this one loves V gogo

A remaster of a ps1 game is pretty pointless. The assets they have to work with would gain nothing from HD. Well, not nothing, but not enough.

besides..if you have played it on an emulator (which legally I have) this isn't really any different....FF7 would be.

@tycobb: I played the demo, which is the opening with Tidus meeting his fans and playing Blitzball. This game has definitely NOT aged well.

Pretty much any line from an NPC is cringeworthy. Combine this with the weird and inappropriate animations and it's painful to watch. That scene where you walk up to the 3 children fans and they awkwardly say "2....3.....TEACH US HOW TO BLITZ" Ugghhh...ghhh..ghhhh.

Yes!! I thought I was the only one who thought this was the perfect battle system. Now they have moved completely to the sit and watch the action system instead of the tactical one in X.

Because they're like masterpieces in comparison to the garbage that came after it.

FFX had my favorite JRPG battle system and I was so mad that they immediately dumped it.

Yeah seriously, I was excited when I saw this trailer, thought there would be a date attached with it. I guess "this winter" is better than nothing though.

I replay Final Fantasy X about once every two years. I will get this on both PS3 and Vita. The best Final Fantasy game I've played to date and I will never, ever get bored of it. There is something about that game's story, gameplay, progression, battle system... hell, I even like the voice acting; that hit me when I first played it and I've been driven off of nostalgia ever since, totally loving every consecutive play I do.

This will totally be worth it. I just wish they'd announce a date already.

X2 was a magic fucking diamond in the pile of trash that is the last decade of Final Fantasy games, but it was also a product of its time. While I loved it for how un-Final Fantasy it was, I don't think I could go back to it, and I can't see it working any longer.

Can't wait to once again lead Ratchet Tidus and company to victory!

Yeah ... I wish they'd use the much larger storage capacity of modern systems (err, at least the PS3, the most common/affordable Vita memory cards are probably comparable to what you'd be able to fit on a PS2 DVD) and include the original voice tracks.

Considering getting the Vita copy of FFX and trying to finish. Although I'm not sure about this because I stopped playing it on PS2 because of god awful voice acting, which I assumed hasn't changed.

FFX-2 is a very divided game. In terms of story and presentation, it's total fluff, but I maintain that the battle system is one of the most mechanically solid that I've ever played.
