So cheesy lame... but such a great concept! AAAAArg!

I saw an interview with them in E3 and they were saying how there's a whole spellcasting system. In stead of grenades, you have spells with regenerating mana over time. Pretty cool.

SO TORN!!!

Tiny Tina's section is where a friend and I stopped playing on our second run-through - we suffered through it the first time, but just couldn't take it again.

I'm wiling to give Tiny Tina a second chance, doesn't seem unbearable in what I'm seeing here. Also I'm totally biased considering the ugliness of the Ashly Burch's recent personal tragedy.

Tina wasnt THAT bad in the main game. A full DLC of her might be a bit much though.

Tiny Tina doesn't bother me so much. At least not as much as most here. I think the setting looks far more interesting than anything from the main campaign. Borderlands 2 was a pretty big disappointment for me last year. I'll give this a shot to see if it redeems itself any.

I think this is a really cool idea, I'll be picking it up. Just hoping they can keep the dialog interesting through the whole thing, if they start repeating the same stuff, it could get old fast.

Interesting you should mention that. During a Gamespot E3 stage demo of the game with Ashly and Anthony Burch, Anthony mentioned that the basis of the DLC is Tiny Tina dealing with the loss/death of her friends, so she's looking for some levity through playing a D&D-esque RPG.

Maybe it's my fondness for D&D, but I laughed more at this than anything else I've ever seen from Borderlands. If I owned BL2, I'd totally get it.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I didn't like Ashly Burch even before she played Tiny Tina. And Tiny Tina is, basically, Ashly Burch playing Ashly Burch on drugs. The same goes for her brother. I guess it runs in the family.

I just don't much care for Ashly Burch or her brother. I think they're a detriment to games.

The Tiny Tina character was fine. She was a stupid and poorly conceived character in a game full of stupid and poorly conceived characters, so if you enjoyed any part of Borderlands 2, you should be fine with Tiny Tina.

The greater problem you have is that you enjoyed any part of Borderlands 2.

@alex: If you had never heard of the character/person Tina is based on, she's not that bad at all. I actually found her insanity refreshing compared to the super serious bs that most of borderlands 2 turns into.

I think for me personally, Tina was basically the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't really recall if she was any worse than the constant barrage of other insipid dialogue totally missing the mark, but she was the point where I decided I was done with seeing what that game had to offer and I stopped playing.

To be clear I'm not saying that people here hate her blindly just because the staff do. That would be reductionist and wrong.

But they did get the hate train rolling in the first place. And this site is also the only place I saw such a high percentage of people with such a hugely negative reaction to the character compared to the reception elsewhere.

Just that these guys tend to sway/skew opinions, after all if they didn't they wouldn't be very good at their job.

Glad to hear it :)

I also didn't take everything about her as a joke. There is some dark stuff in her past. And going off personal experience about active annoying little girls (cousins etc) TT seemed a perfect representation of what would one be like if her psyche completely broke down after going through what she had to experience and living in an over the top hyper violent world of BL.

The character made me feel both sad for her, yet glad that her mind found a way to survive.

@tennmuerti: Pretty much that. I didn't see the hate until it was brought up and then it just showed up. As for the DLC itself I am interested in the 'dealing with death' part because in the main-game itself they sort of just regulated Roland's death to one little mission in which she wasn't even present in. I want to see how they make this work.

I'm in shock over these negative reactions to Tiny Tina as she is easily my favorite character in the game. Granted, a lot of it has to do with every other character being terrible, especially Jack, but I love Tina's crazy attitude.

@dasuberogre: I've never played a Borderlands game but hearing Anthony talk about exploring the idea of using gaming escapism as a way for a character to deal with loss has me really interested in this. Even that little moment in the intro video packs way more character information into a few lines and sidelong glances than most games do in several hours. I've been a fan of the Burch siblings for a while now (they've done some great interview podcasts with indie devs) and it's awesome that their love of character development is leaking into real world games.

I am so ready for this. Gearing up to run another D&D campaign at the end of the month so this DLC is nicely timed.

And I adore Tiny Tina. It's a shame she gets so much hate.

It's interesting how Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and the Tiny Tina DLC both tapped into the idea of a narrator affecting the game world. I wish this was a standalone game like Blood Dragon so I could just check this out. I don't really have the spare time for a game the size of BL2.

It sure does, but that's just the set-up for the game. The main gameplay they showed had a good amount of goofy satire of D&D, tabletop RPGs, and Game of Thrones. I came away from it thinking that it'll be pretty lighthearted.

This 100x over, was I dying of laughter during her section? Nope but a few of her jokes were really good and the names for her animals were clever she was a mixture of cute and dark, hardly the best but Horrible and to the point of where I would stop playing the game? Hell no.

Man. The only ep of that podcast I've listened to is the one with Kulap, and that was so depressing I couldn't listen to any more. I don't like HAWP at all, and honestly was bored/annoyed with Broderbunds 2 before I ever even got to Tiny Tina, but that's super sad.

It gives a brief psychological perspective on how Tina copes with the loss of Roland. They show the character is more than a squirrely teenager with access to high grade explosives.
