Playing a young girl in a apocalyptic setting is unique enough for me to be interested so I am cautiously optimistic.

If we were going back to Clem, I was kind of hoping for a somewhat grown up Clem. But I guess imagining that they'd move ahead that far was unrealistic.

Playing as her is going to be very different, isn't it? She's not a helpless kid, but it's hard to imagine her being physically capable of a lot of the things we had to do as Lee.

Pretty damned bold of them to make Clem the protagonist. Isn't killing kids taboo in entertainment media? How will they get around the inevitable death animations? Regardless, excited about this, obviously.

Well, I'm immediately less excited about this. I'd rather they abandon the older characters entirely, or progress time to show an older Clem. But I'm sure there's some kind of twist in there that they're not teasing yet

They can not give a fuck and just allow it to be grotesque or go the safe route and do some cut-away shots with audible screaming.

Yeah I'm not sure how well this will work just having Clementine since the key thing about Season 1 was the relationship between Lee and Clementine. But hey, they did a pretty damn good job last time so consider me cautiously optimistic.

Season 1 is the best thing to come out of The Walking Dead franchise (and my favorite game in 2012). The TV show is almost unwatchable for me but I'm really happy we get to continue Clem's story.

not surprising they bring back a character from the first season and I wouldn't be surprised if more pop up as well. Looking forward to it.

@tesla: If it's anything like the comics, Clem will be as hard and tough as any adult, Carl in the comics is like 12 and has adults doing what he tells them to do.

I hope Clem is the main character, or else minor, I don't want to be another father figure to her--Lee was great and replacing him with another gruff dude would really lessen the impact Lee had.

I loved how the first game ended. Absolutely loved it.

This completely irreversibly destroys that.

I'll still play the game, but now knowing the seasons are going to tie together like this kind of fucks over the uncertainty at the ends of these things, and dramatic conclusions are supposed to be part of the experience. Oh well. Missed opportunities abound.

Telltale guys were saying pretty early on that decisions you made would potentially carry over between seasons, which kinda implies the same about at least some of the group members. Not really sure why people are so shocked and/or irritated by this reveal.

Personally, I'm more curious about how the cast of 400 Days will fit into this season. It's probably an unpopular opinion but I found the new crew way more interesting.

Man, I am super bummed by how 400 Days turned out. Totally non-sensical end-game results that completely take the player out of feeling like your choices have merit, really awkwardly written stoner-dude, tone all over the place, pretty much zero emotional resonance, it just felt like a mess to me. I just hope that DLC was a big mistake and doesn't reflect the quality of Season 2. This trailer doesn't exactly give me a lot of hope, seems super ham-fisted (HEY LOOK IT'S CLEMENTINE HEY LOOK GUYS IT'S CLEMENTINE REMEMBER CLEMENTINE REMEMBER LEE WASN'T THAT SAD YOU GUYS).

I loved Season 1 to bits but, I dunno, feeling weirdly cynical. Looking forward to being proved wrong.

Too much young Clem for me.

Don't get me wrong I love the character, but I think it would be much more interesting to have her age a bit between seasons. Present us with a cold, hardened adult and let the user fill in the blanks between what we know happened and the person she becomes. We've already gone through the whole childhood loss of innocence thing, I want to see the results of Lee's guidance instead of picking right up where we left off.

Not a big deal though I guess, and this is still a brief trailer that doesn't really tell us much.

I'm torn on this myself. I don't really want more young Clem either, but I don't understand how you can jump forward in time with a world like the Walking Dead. The story presents mere day to day living as a harrowing struggle. If we pick up the story even a year or two later, I'd want to know how she survived when so many didn't! What did she eat for example?

It'll be interesting to see how Clementine fits in with the new cast of characters that were previewed in 400 days. But more importantly, if she'll survive again, or if she'll become a sequel death: Where the final girl survives in the original, only to die in the sequel.

@the_vein: I'd argue that the game was more successful at telling human stories in a zombie setting than the comic ever was (I've fallen off the comic now, Kirkman will probably never finish the story). Kirkman created a great world, but his dialogue has always held that comic from being really great imo.

From the Wiki:

"Telltale wants to tie this game into the TV series and is exploring some way of tying the characters from the game to characters from the show."

As one of those who think the TV show is mediocre to downright bad, this doesn't really fill me with confidence. But the game's writers seem a lot better than the show's writer, so we'll see.

I think the problem is that some people found serious issues with the first season while others have nothing but praise for it. I am actually one of them. I like the game for what it's trying to do, but at the same time, there were a lot of instances where something happened and I just didn't see any logical answer or action out of the options I was given. It often felt like they wanted you to make tough choices when you really didn't have to. Also, I know you're not supposed to replay parts over, but due to glitches and bugs I was forced to on several occasions. One of them included episode three right leading up to Duck's death. Because I needed to replay a part, I noticed how insanely little sense everything around it made. It completely blew the immersion for me and the entire part afterwards, how Duck died, had no impact on me whatsoever because of it.

Couple that with poor gameplay and yeah, I have the tendency to say it's overrated. I do still really like that game, but not as insanely much as everyone else seems to.

I would disagree. One of the reasons I immediately liked the comic was because it felt realistic in its portrayal of human adaption to circumstances. For instance in the comic Rick and the group quickly adapts to the fact that noise attracts zombies, and becomes proficient at killing zombies with hand weapons. But in Telltale's game the characters never seem to get this. In the comic the characters become used to zombies, they stop being frightening monster and instead become just an everyday-hazard. You can't stay afraid of something you can't avoid, you would end up dead.. Again, this never seem to truly happen in Telltale's game. Another thing is that I often felt the the story suffered a bit because of how the game needed to give the player choices. Particular the ones made to create a strong emotional reaction in the player, like the scene with the bear-trap for instance. Some pretty absurdly fucked up stuff happens in the comic too, but it never felt ham-fisted like I felt some of these scenes did.

I guess I would agree that Kirkman's writing isn't always great, but I can't say the writing in Telltale's game is particular amazing either.

That said, Telltale's game is definitely the next best thing to the comic, by a long shot. I watched the the first season of the TV-series and tried watching the second one, which resulted in a long angry post in some random related forum and I haven't watched it since.

I'm not really reading comic right now as the story was moving fairly slowly last I checked. But I'll get back to soon.
