Here's a Fresh Look at Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

Strange feeling High Moon might be next on the Activision axe block. Deadpool sold around a million copies, that's not good enough for Activision. Hopefully High Moon is doing something new, and just keeping quiet. They make solid games in my opinion, Deadpool, Transformers War & Fall of Cybertron, the Bourne Conspiracy all were enjoyable.

I thought the Transformers' motions looked all janky, but then changed the quality to Progressive HD from Streaming HD and it all looked so much smoother. In case anyone else looks at it and goes "WTF" like I did

Looks absolutely identical to the previous games, WfC and FoC, even down to the weapon designs. I'm a huge Transformers nut, but I'll probably skip this one.

I guess I'm not too worried on the gameplay side of things. High Moon laid the groundwork for all the mechanics in their previous titles, so really all this other company has to do is use them (judging from the trailers, that's what they're doing). And while Edge of Reality has been a mixed bag, they did create that F2P Loadout game earlier this year, which wasn't half bad. But yeah, whether or not they'll match the scale and the pacing of High Moon's work is yet to be seen.

High moons telling of the TF lore in Fall of Cybertron was beyond anything I couldve hoped for as a transformers fan.. that said they dropped the ball hard on Multiplayer... Ill pick this up to see if they fixed some of those issues, but refuse to accept this as TF cannon. the movies will always be terrible 'what if" sceneros in my eyes.

@sunbrozak: Might want to be more cautious. This game isn't being developed by High Moon. It's by Edge of Reality. A quick search shows that everything they've made were ports besides the Hulk game from 2008. Really disappointing that Activision let them tie the Cybertron games to the movies. Would've loved a sequel to those games on PS4/X1 in a year or two by High Moon.

What a fucking bummer that Fall of Cybertron leads to this. Oh well War and Fall tell a full story so I'll just enjoy it is a 2 parter.

I hate the movie designs for the transformers, they are the worst, especially the weird human like moving faces that are made out of metal and are super creepy.

The gameplay was serviceable enough as a Transformers delivery system for me to be a huge fan of War, but it needed more improvement than it got in Fall. I can't say I see much sign they're improving for this one.

It really throws into stark relief how uninspired and rote the "modern" transformers designs are when thrown up alongside the more original themed stuff. Bruticus looked fucking amazing compared to 'movie Prime' in that trailer.

PROTIP: put games you might want on Steam on your wishlist and you'll be notified via email whenever they go on sale. It's really handy for getting good deals on stuff you want. Fall/War have both been extremely cheap before, albeit infrequently.

War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron were the only Transformers games worth playing because High Moon worked on them. The movie tie-in games were nowhere near as good.

@mikemcn: War for Cybertron is often on sale for $5, Fall of Cybertron has been on sale for $15 several times (including currently at GameStop PC Downloads) in the last year. It's true, they often don't see as heavy of discounts as some other games, but they've been 75% off many times.

I love this series. Admittedly the gameplay is a bit pedantic, but the flow of the story and the giant set pieces just make me giddy. It's gears of war in terms of scale, but in a universe I've adored since childhood.

It's still really fucking weird they decided to use Drift for the movie. He's from the IDW comic and he's lord king "this is my original character Drift and he is sooooo cool". Still bummed they tied together the movie and the game when they could have gone for a more Transformers Prime direction at least.

I was about to get all indignant about Activision pumping these games out, but there apparently wasn't a console Transformers in 2013, so...good on them for giving the franchise a tiny break?

People said the transformer games were decent, but i've never bought them because they're always 30+ bucks on steam even with sales.

I don't think I want more of the same from this franchise. I barely got through the second one.

I didn't realize this acts as a sequel to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. While I'm a little wary considering this also appears to tie into the movie, I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out given that I loved Fall of Cybertron.
