Here's a Peek at the Ludicrously Colorful Combat of Lollipop Chainsaw

I really can't say I cared much for the trailer, it makes the game seem like just another cookie cutter Suda 51 game - not that it's a bad thing - it's just that there have been numerous third-person hack-and-slash games that have beaten this game to market in concept. But of course, I know next to nothing about this game, so maybe Suda's... talent will give this game a creative hook to separate it from the rest.

Is it weird that I feel like this game looks dated? It's like they missed the window on every beat. Buffy, Bayonetta, Final Fantasy girls club, zombie dismemberment. It seems like less of a unique mixture from people you'd expect the unexpected from.

All I get from this game is a male gamer pander-fest. Like it was conceptualized by a market research firm.

There's an off chance this will be great. I stay skeptical.

"Just Admit it, Ted" by Jane's Addiction should be the theme song to this game. Gratuitous sex and violence and nothing more.

Very. I get seriously worried by the fact that there's no actual gameplay videos out and the closest thing we've gotten are these flavor trailers. Reminds me of NMH, which was stylistically excellent, but absolutely abhorrent to sit down and play.

I've been looking forward to this game since they announced it however long ago. I probably won't pick it up right away but I definitely will once the price drops. (And lets face it, it's a Suda game. The price will probably drop pretty quick.)

I was going to get this but now I just think I'm going to pick up the Witcher 2 instead.

Lol why all the negativity about how bad it will play? This is a suda/grasshopper game, it was never going to be SFIV or demon's souls level of gameplay folks. Ever. It is going to review between 5-8, as the rest of his games review at. Never good enough at everything to be a 9 or 10 never broken enough or without charm for most people to give it lower than a 5 or 6; I feel his games are almost formulaic now in a general sense of what to expect.

Everything flashed by so quick...I must have missed it...absolutely do not doubt that the suit is present (along with color swaps).

lol people saying this looks bad should of seen the no more heros trailers back when that game was being cooked up. holy shit did those make my favorite game(s) for the wii look like shit.

@RainDog505: It's not in the trailer but it's in the game, I actually first saw it on our own Wiki, along with bikini costumes etc.. I had a $10 off coupon for Amazon and they had this priced at $45 dollars, so I will end up paying only $35 which seems like hell of a deal.

Im a fan of all the costumes i have seen so far.

To be fair, all of Suda 51's games have bad looking combat... but they feel so satisfying when actually played. Killer 7 killshots, No More Heroes wii gestures, Shadows of the Damned in general. I expect this will follow that pattern.

Hoping this game bombs so Suda 51 doesn't have any further outlets for his fucked-up sexual perversions beyond his own imagination. If you don't have a girlfriend, and love objectifying and sexualising women to the umpteenth degree, then this game is for you! It can't be for any other reason, because (purely through demonstrations of combat, general gameplay and aesthetic released thus far) this game looks appalling. Granted, if you secretly dream of role-playing a 'sexy' cheerleader, or if porn is just a bit too much for you, then Lollipop Chainsaw may also hold some appeal.

This is what makes me buy a console.

Still looks like they might be taking queues from Bayonetta's combat, if if plays as well as that did, or even close, i'm down, Bayonetta had the best combat of any game in the genre.

The games Grasshopper put out tend to be so ridiculous that anything can happen and be acceptable.

I'd say it happening in the game acknowledges how ridiculous it is in the real world. If the game was trying to be super realistic and gritty and Juliet turned up I'd share your concern but in this game I'm OK with it because it's about cutting up zombies with her rainbow chainsaw.

Video games are unique in their ridiculousness and studios like grasshopper seem to trying to retain as much nonsense as possible when other games are just trying to get more serious and boring.

Please don't hope for it to fail!

attention gamestop shoppers! is it just me or do the gamestop employees push this games' pre-order more than the others?

I rarely go but I always get that one offered.

Probably gonna keep my Amazon pre-order, blast through it one weekend when I need something light-hearted, and find a buyer or something. It looks like a great breezy, entertaining romp, which sometimes is all I need. i.e. Saints Row.
