Here's a Short Look at NBA 2K13's Career Mode

Almost thought that this was a spin off QL for a second.

I wish they did another draft combine game... that was kinda fun

Honestly they need a better tutorial system for the individual positions in My Player mode - I really had no idea what I was doing as someone who only casually watches Basketball but enjoys the career mode of this game. Very hard to get good performance.

I love in sports games when they give you the option to be a total dick in press scrums.

"I demand a trade."

Being able to demand a trade every other week in past Madden games was/is pretty ridiculous but fun in a weird way.

Here's hoping for a better menu user interface... They've been using the same menus for years. On a side note was that Danny Pudi from Community schooling Jordan?

I played so much of 2k12's My Player mode, nice to see they added more to it this year.

edit: He said Bieber is gonna reach out. Unsold.

That's one ugly game. Something I'd expect from launch line-up 360.

Did you try playing with the plays draw out on the court? That helps.

I can deal with the ugly graphics as long as they keep the content coming with each entry. I think the NBA2k games and FIFA are the only sports games worth grabbing yearly anymore.

Can't wait for this, love me some MyPlayer. I just wish I didn't have to start from scratch every year.

Looks like a nice backbone to spend practicing with the new dual analog controls. They continue to put out a slick looking product.

I don't want Justin Beiber or Pauly D giving me "shout-outs" while I'm playing fake basketball.

All the window dressing looks nice but best thing to hear and see a bit is the gameplay being fixed. In My Player it was so robotic and stiff and it was awful to play anything but the PG and even as the PG it wasn't too fun, especially if you didn't have the right teammates to dish to. This looks a lot more like real basketball from what they show here.

EDIT: Also another big part is the GM meeting. I hope that works well because my other biggest problem was your team always tending to make huge trades even when your team was doing well.

Crap, I'm gonna have to get this game now.

At least they're telling people what's new this year instead of the cocky PR last year where they said nothing about the career mode, so I skipped it. Might grab this when it's $30 or less.

I actually started this video to make sure that this not a Quick Look. I'm aware that normally GB labels it as one, but still...

The idea that anyone would be excited about fake Tweets from a fictional Justin Bieber about your made-up NBA 2K13 player is pretty ludicrous. To think it's someone's job to write those...

I wish there was a renegade interrupt option during press conferences when reporters ask stupid questions. An option for the player to bring their kid during press conference. To spend time giving self serving platitudes and viciously accusing the "you the media are out to get me". I would like NBA 2k13 to add more realism to the game by adding a Stan Van Gundy moment like this one.

2k brought the series to a crossroads of sorts where my player mode additions are trotted out first and foremost ahead of what gameplay additions or subtractions are being discussed. But what is up with those plastic and wonkiest faces this side of uncanny valley and ghastly UI? Nevermind, I don't care if I had to play a 1950s simulation of peach baskets and pasty white dudes, I want some damn realism in the gameplay.

They actually already released a bunch of gameplay changes and fixes in previous trailers. This is the 4th video in the series and at PAX they revealed more about gameplay as well.

Although I don't know how hard it'll be since essentially you're doing the same shit on the right stick as you were when holding LT+left stick. Although I suppose getting used to holding down LT before shooting may take some getting used to.

Agreed. Might throw NHL on there too if you care about hockey. And while the textures look similar the animations do look a lot less stiff, which goes a long way IMO

I don't the organization/team would be too happy about you backflipping off the commentators' table.

The Twitter thing creates great role-playing opportunities. For instance, if Justin Bieber calls you out publicly, you can lead your player down an endless shame spiral where he questions his behavior, motivations, and whether he really wants to be part of the sport anymore.

@zeekthegeek: In 2K12 they had a pretty good tutorial mode where the legends of the game taught you all the different moves/skills. You learned post move playing as Dwight with Hakeem as your coach and so on. MyPlayer doesn't need to integrate a tutorial system on top of that. It makes an assumption that you already understand the basic fundamentals of the game and of the positions. If not it has a tutorial mode that teaches you how to do everything from setting screens to making cuts to the basket and it will even draw play-art on the court to tell you exactly where to go and what to do. They are making a hardcore basketball simulation so there is going to be a barrier to entry. Understanding when to rotate over on help defense or how hard to hedge against a pick are things the game really can't teach you, they are things you learn by either playing or watching the game a lot.
