Here's CD Projekt RED's New Thing, Cyberpunk 2077

It always makes me feel bad that I haven't finished Witcher 2. It does so many things so right that parts of it are just amazing. This looks super intriguing. Thinking of the kind of adult and grey they could inject into this game, something I wish games like the new Deus Ex had a little bit more of, makes me want this; now. Time to wait.

I'm talking about their obesession with sex scenes, or randomly inserting nudity into their games, or more importantly giving all the mainline women gigantic tits.

I started replaying Deus ex HR this week man the game really holds up at least in terms of the gameplay and theme I really enjoy the cyberpunk style.This game looks so awesome but unfortunately where going to have to wait to 2015 according to IGN.

Awesome, love the Alt nod in the bus station ad, and what looks like Wolvers 2.0 coming out the lady's forearms.

The real question. Do you get picked up by Trauma Team or can you choose REO Meatwagon if a Friday night firefight goes south?

My interest has been piqued.

Could be excused that everyone on a C-SWAT squad hunting down someone that just went psychotic from too much cyberwear would be similarly enhanced. That said, have to agree there was probably a better way to do that.

This is not a good trailer. This is more of the same bullshit that the games industry marketing people have been putting out lately, with only vague connections to the actual game in question. Show me a video game please, otherwise I do not care about your cinematics and your quick cuts and your oh so artistic music choices.

It seems like that's exactly what happens. People speculating that the whole trailer besides that end sequence is a flashback to how she was recruited.

I wonder if you are right about if the PC is the cop or the girl. The interview on the game right now on IGN says the PC is "he" though so I'm thinking you are the guy. You can customize your character but you have to be male is my best guess but I could be wrong.

Having the player be a crazy cyborg that was reprogrammed would be really cool but even if she's just kind of your partner or "Triss" if you will that'd be a really interesting character to interact with.

Someone's also mentioned this, but extending the point, people in this setting can go all 'borg, transferring their brains into robot bodies and not just bolting on cybernetic arms and whatnot, with a heavy cost in your ability to actually function in society. People that are unlucky/foolish/not all that empathic to begin with can randomly snap going cyberpsycho, necessitating the (in this case) Night City PD to call in their C-SWAT with .50 cals and armored airships. If taken down nonlethally (good luck) the psychosis can be alleviated with a lot of surgery, drugs, and psychiatry to eventually come back, though usually it requires the removal of most of the gear.

Point being, a cyborg in this setting probably isn't reprogrammed (at least in the technological sense) as it still is operating with a human brain, and might be a workable PC.

So...Ghost in the Shell. Sold

Dude calm the hell down. This is a teaser/reveal trailer. Do you know what purpose a teaser/reveal trailer serves? To give you insight about what the tone and atmosphere of the game is going to be. Gameplay trailers are revealed later on...

Anyways, I built a new PC for the Witcher 2 so I could play it at max and I love CD Projekt Red, so I will definitely be looking forward to this one, if it is anywhere near the quality of the Witcher.

I believe they got the creator of the original Cyberpunkt P&P on board plus the official license. So why not go with a well known and established franchise name? That way people at least know what to expect to a certain degree.

And actually it had been 3D Realms with Duke Nukem Forever that keyed the "when it's done" phrase first afaik. Sure Valve time is a similar concept but one could argue that even Blizzard has used that exact same sentiment before too.

I also don't think CD Projekt is pushing it hard, imho they are among the few developers out there that stay true to their roots and still respect their customer base even after making it big time. That's not something one should take for granted (Bioware, Blizzard *cough cough*) So if anybody has the right to drop a line like that and still stay believable, it's CD Projekt.

Sure, but at that point why even raise the point in the teaser? And they're quite cheeky about it, too, with the meaningful pause before the text and all that. Not that they're not entitled to release the game when they damn well please, but that touch at the end of the trailer felt a bit off to me. Definitely not even close to a dealbreaker, though.

As for the franchise name... meh. I hadn't heard of The Witcher and I hadn't heard of this, and I'm pretty darn nerdy. The difference being that "The Witcher" is actually a pretty cool title that doesn't lead to any misconceptions and sounds nice and marketable. Cyberpunk... not so much. I feel like having a proper title with the Cyberpunk thing attached as a subtitle ("Cyborg Bulletproof Seminaked Ladies: A Cyberpunk Adventure"!) would have been a better choice, along the lines of the Dawn of War series, for instance. Again, not a dealbreaker, but it's not like we have anything else to discuss from this, so...

To each their own. I was right with Penny Arcade when they cheekily skewered the Witcher name when it was first (or very early on regardless) announced. Turns out the game was great. As a Cyberpunk player that transitioned from 2013 to 2020, I welcome the Cyberpunk: Year motif as it actually says a lot while also raising a whole lot of other questions.

Oh that art style.... I can not wait.

I like how honest the name is, I feel it's their way of saying “look we could give this some bullshit futuristic name, but come on, we know what this is and you know what this is, its Cyberpunk, so let's just call it that ok”. I also really like the logo, reminds me of the album cover for Daft Punk's Discovery. Other than that it's a really slick CG target trailer, hopefully the game hits said target.

Teasers before there is much to show of the actual game. This is getting the name of the game out and the general idea behind it.

I think it just bypasses the obvious question everyone's wondering, given that it's a CG trailer with very little info I doubt we'll even get a release date until about a year or so.

As a Witcher fan who likes Cyberpunk (just in general, never played the P&P game) i'm more hyped for this than any game that's actually been announced thus far. (meaning games like Fallout 4 & TES6 dont count)
