Here's Torchlight II's Opening Cinematic

After playing the Diablo III beta, I'm more interested in seeing how good Torchlight 2 will turn out to be.

Awesome! Looking forward to this more than Diablo III.

well, the art direction is certainly tragic.

Mindless dungeon crawlers... not interested in them any more.

I loved the first one, and got to see this in action at Pax East earlier this month. I love that this game can coexist and compete with D3.

Played a ton of the original, can't wait to sink another 40+ hours into the sequel.

2.5 minutes well spent actually. That was fun to watch, and got me interested in a game I know next to nothing about, so...good marketing!

@Phatmac: I will wave as it walks by, but I probably won't even glance at it as I keep running towards TL2.

After playing the Diablo 3 beta this past weekend, I went back into Torchlight, just to kind of compare how Blizzard's latest does compared to Torchlight.

I hate to say it, Diablo 3 is so much better from a production quality standpoint, especially when it comes to character control, inventory management, things that just make the game play flow, no doubt due to the extraordinary amount of money and time put into making it just right.

Hopefully Torchlight 2 can meet that bar, but man, I am just really, really stoked for Diablo 3 right now.

This trailer has a stink of 90's shockwave flash about it.

Should be good... though I feel bad that this game has to coexist with D3... its not going to be a match.

Diablo III seems like a great game, but the always-online stuff and the lack of ownership over your game is incredibly discouraging for me.

Torchlight II, you have my support.

Shank? Is that you?

Torchlight, that 2009 $20 game, without wanting to sound like some kind of jerk, makes purchasing the $60 Diablo 3 a questionable decision. Especially when you just want Diablo gameplay with the freedoms we used to have.
 
And then comes Torchlight 2.
 
(Still looks like I'm going to buy Diablo 3, even with the disgusting fucking always online bullshit that's just swell for us who prefer singleplayer action. Hope you're not playing your singleplayer game when they need to do server maintenance.)

Torchlight 1 was awesome, would have been sooooo much better with co-op so I'm excited for this, even though Diablo 3 will probably consume me

They have said it will run on comparable hardware to the first game, but look vaguely better because they know their way around the engine better now (read: were able to spend more time for R&D).

The pew pew at 2:00 for comical effect was a nice touch.

People need to relax a bit and not keep pitting Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3 against each other like there is some grudge match. Personally i'm happy we are getting 2 dungeon crawlers and I know i'll be playing both meself. And most likely going enjoy both both in their similarities and differences.
 
Too bad it was delayed from it's origianl release for so long, it would have nicely filled a void left by the D3 hype and delay.  But who knows if D3's release will actually make it sell better or worse, overall bigger dungeon crawler exposure might actually help.

That Diablo 3 is fantastic. Torchlight REALLY should have beaten it to release. I am concerned for its well being.

I'm personally stoked for both Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2. My social life, maybe not so much.

oh well they missed there window no torchlight for me Ill be gearing up my witchdoc for far too long

I don't normally like Dungeon Crawlers but Torchlight just clicked for me in a way that no game like it has before or since.

After playing Torchlight and the Diablo III beta, and not liking either one of them, I think I can now safely say that I am done with mindless dungeon crawling.

Yea--it looks like a flash cartoon. It is a real shame that this game couldn't beat Diablo III to the market as I am sure it would have done really well...but now that it's coming after Diablo...

Loved the 1st game & looking forward to what ever those guys have come up with for this sequel :-) although i'm not really a fan of the UI changes but I suppose that's what mods are for if needed, even though it doesn't look too different & more sleeker which is good imho, just been too long of a wait for this - but I would prefer a "done when it's done" attitude & probably couldn't ask for a better team/studio to be working on a "dungeon crawler".

I have a fear that the story is going to be just as good as the last one (sarcasm). Here's to hoping I'm wrong!

Apparently its made by the same guy, of whom runic games hired to make the cinematic. I read that on the official forums. Personally, I am not a big fan of that style, especially as an intro cinematic.

I am really looking forward to the game. Its going to be a very large game and have TONS of customization and weapon types. Overall, I am looking forward to this more than diablo 3. Keep in mind diablo 3 is three times the cost and torchlight 2 is doing pretty much everything that game is doing except the big budget cinematics.

Even something like chargeable spells very interesting even though dungeon siege 3 basically did that already.
