No way, I've played No Mercy recently, it's still better than these in pretty much everything but the graphics. Wrestling games just don't need complex mechanics to be fun. They need to be made when wresting itself doesn't suck ass, that seems to be the key.

Even then I think mechanically the AKI games were always more fun to play than the Yuke's games.

Actually, I'd probably say that those are still the best. Well, probably FF8 for me personally, but yeah. Opinions, son.

The gameplay in '12 was solid; I'm just hoping for more features and better AI. Faces still look terrible, though. And what the HELL did they do to Zack Ryder?

They have Attitude era versions and current versions. For some reason they label them as different superstars.

Why did they repeat the same guys like 6 times in this?

@Terranova: D-Lo Brown is a TNA Road Agent, The Dudleys and Jeff Hardy are with TNA, Ahmed was barely doing anything during the Attitude Era other than feuding with the N.O.D. (but might still be DLC), and Goldust was recently fired for having the P.T.P. perform a nasty-looking super powerbomb on Yoshi Tatsu (but also might still be DLC).

The others will probably be DLC. Also, they are trying to revitalize the franchise for perhaps the last time under the THQ brand, so you can't really fault them with trying to go with the most popular era of WWE's history.

Also, the Acolytes existed for a while after the Ministry angle died. That's why they had the APA around even during the Invasion angles.

Wait they have the Acolytes yet no Ministry Undertaker how can they have one with out the other, and where are the other Attitude Era wrestlers, Gangrel With the Brood, The Dudleys, the hardys, Ahmed Johnson, D-Lo Brown, Val Venus, Too Cool, Rikishi, Goldust, the list goes on, I know licenses play a big factor but really if your going to have an Attitude era then make sure you can deliver everything it had other wise don't bother.

@TrueEnglishGent: That's what this is. The story mode is a retelling of the Attitude Era. That's why they're there.

Why not go all the way and release a WWE game with just the attitude era. Hell of a lot more interesting then what they seem to have now. Oh and Ken Shamrock! Had no idea who most of the current wrestlers were.

Divas got shafted from the roster again. WWE 12's wasn't great, but it covered most bases. Seems like SVR 11 has been the best Diva roster to date, and that's a pity as 12/13 are huge improvements. I'm hoping for some Diva DLC packs.

Time for some random rants:

Beth Phoenix's model looks terrible, she looks like a blonde Elvira with googly eyes. Inexcusable. I understand the attire, despite it being out of date (she just recently went back to pants), but it's just unlike her. Where's Natalya? What about the Divas champ Layla? I know she was sidelined with an injury, but they need to add her in via DLC.

Kelly Kelly has the same entrance she has had since the beginning of the series, too. And I bet the Glam Slam for Beth isn't fixed either.

Eve looks great though, they got her gloves in and her hair looks nice. No complaints there.

I get why the Bellas are in again, but Kharma being in again with Layla being out? Kharma was out almost as long as Layla, and she never came back before she was released. Hell, she never had a match!

Alicia Fox, again, fine. She hasn't really changed her entrance much, so it being a re-use isn't a problem.

Looking forward to see how AJ turns out, but I really hope there's more DLC for the Divas in the plans (Natalya, Layla, Tamina/Vickie/Rosa?). Rosa really should be in, given her screen time with Epico and Primo.

And I hope this year they finally let us do a six-Divas match, but hell, that's almost the full roster! Maybe they'll actually have Cameron and Naomi being able to be chosen to wrestle, but I bet they're just NPCs for Brodus Clay's entrance, which would be a real shame.

Plus, TWO Litas? Come on now... But I'm glad Stephanie is in, that's good.

Attitude Era stuff I could care less about, I want the current product, but unfortunately it seems like they decided to make it a split. I do like the old Attitude Era arenas though, but they overkilled it with the roster.

Roster itself (Divas aside) has a lot of holes in it too, a lot of midcarders are missing. I know they had almost no presence on television, but having them are pretty integral to a WWE experience, IMO. Come on, are THREE Triple H's needed?! Having Big Johnny is a plus, though. Hopefully they have his OTL wrestling attire as an alternative attire.

Good on them for adding the static to CM Punk's entrance theme, but they have almost no excuse to not have his "In Punk We Trust" shirt over his "Best in the World". Sure BitW is more iconic, but this goes to show you this is likely a holdout from WWE 12.

No Ryback or Tensai, either? Stupid. They have to confirm them for DLC or this game has a lot of glaring roster issues. But, they have most entrance attires for people and it's about damn time (sans Brodus Clay's tracksuit). Plus, I heard they fixed the titantron video issues where it looks JPEG'd, but now it looks like it does on television, which is great news.

Also, I mostly blame WWE for this, but they have dropped "Supershow" from Raw, and that is a little annoying given that we'll have to deal with that on the game for a year now. It's stupid to expect them to add the new Raw logo/set for this game, but one would hope they could remove Supershow from this game to make it more current, but that isn't likely given how THQ has dated these games in the past. This game is extremely accurate for April 2012, which is fine and what I expect, but they have usually updated some things before way later. Hoping they fix some last minute things before release, but I bet the game is nearly ready to go gold.

On the bright side: DAMIEN SANDOW CONFIRMED.

Some of those models look pretty bad. They still can't get the Divas too look anything at all realistic.

They need to integrate the UFC team into these games. In UFC2009 (the only one I have), the ring girls looked better than what these Diva models look like.

I used to buy these every year dating back to the PS2 days. They are all pretty bad, but when i was younger and hooked on WWE it was my jam. Its cool to see some of the attitude era guys in the game but i can't say that's enough to bring me back

Stephanie Mcmahon rates as "legend" to bring back now, really?
On the posative side, really glad to see Eddie Guerrero getting recognized.
 
 
I haven't watched wrestling in a little bit now, last wrestlemania I guess. The announcement that they were going to add another hour onto the already ridiculously fluff filled weekly broadcasts was too much for me and I stopped.

That's true, the licensing also would have happened a long time before Nash badmouthed Gurrero and Benoit. I imagine we also wouldn't see Triple-Triple H either, heh.

Let's get to the real issue here, though; where the fuck is Rikishi? Brodus Clay versus The Godfather doesn't have the same ring to it.

Mind is blown at that roster! God dam that is a great select of guys. Wish they had Big Bossmans old Blue costume, but ether way I love seeing him get some love in these games. Would love to see a 3 way hardcore match with each of Mick Foleys personalities.

I'm actually surprised, that's a pretty decent roster. DX alone is pretty awesome to see. There are still some names I'd like in there, but we'd be here all day if I listed them out. I haven't bought a wrestling game for a few years now, seeing that roster - this is the closest I've been for a long time in relapsing.

God I know. How the hell can the hair still look like the PS2 era games? That might be a slight example but Christ THQ are so lazy it's unreal. I mean if you can't be bothered actually changing the game mechanics for the first time in a decade you'd at least expect them to do something on the cosmetic side of things. Apparently, if you're in the back alleys of Brooklyn and looking for a good Brawl all you have to do is stare into a puddle of bum urine and say his name three times. Fools errand though.
