Wouldn't you be able to make a Japanese PSN account and connect that to it?

Posted by PrezAbeLincoln

I think this thing is really cool. I hope they do make it to the US. Sure its not some crazy piece of tech but for $100 I can see getting some good use out of it.

great idea, I'd try it

Yeah, but all their games would be on their other accounts and they probably don't want to flail around blindly in the Japanese store. Would be cool if they tried though, grabbed some demos and such.

And as Jeff said, there are a few US retail games that are confirmed as working, such as Persona 4 Golden, Muramasa Rebirth, and I think Dragon's Crown. Hope they give Ys: Memories of Celceta a shot... It is compatible in Japan, though from the sounds of it that requires a patch probably came too late to be included in the US release.

Heard quite a bit of negative reactions to this thing. Currently about 120 out of 450 vita games are compatible with it.

Wow that is really small. So this is basically the computing power of a ps2 right? Also is this thing easier to record off of?

Edited by Neonie

The color that thing is makes me wish it used the same material the SNES was made of so it would just turn yellow after a while.

Any idea of when they plan on patching in the Dual Shock 4 support? Because if I can import this thing and play Persona 4 Golden on my TV with the PS4 controller, I may actually try that. I just hope Jeff is right and it unlocks the US store once a stateside release is announced.

That looks about the same size as the PS3/laptop hard drive. Tiny!

Sony said they will update the PS Vita TV to support the PS4 controller.

Si is Japanese? I speak Japanese! It is a shame the PS Vita TV won't work here other regions yet. But it makes sense. Creating a Japanese account is probably more hassle just to get a game or two that you can't understand.

I thought the PS Vita TV can be used to stream the PS4 to other TV's. Not Remote Play which would make it small for the Vita then, I guess, blown up on a seperate, I mean like a sling box or something, streaming the PS4 to to other monitors. Am I getting this wrong? Or was it always just remote play?

I also miss these videos. Makes me wish for I Love Mondays to come back.

Holy crap an office video. It's been too long.

I am super excited for this thing. I really don't need a handheld, but I want a device that will play P4 Golden (and maybe other stuff like my downloadable PSP library). Being able to pump that out to a TV is absolutely perfect for me.

It's kinda strange that they consider Japan to be a bigger market for this than North America, considering we're not the ones with tightly knit, transit commuter systems. This thing seems made for our market.

And I do agree, it's nice to see a true office video again. I miss Mondays.

As a man who often takes a drink from his soda because he needs something to do with his hands while talking to others; I LOVE that Jeff opened this video by taking a pull from his diet coke! Can't wait for Vita TV in places that aren't Japan!

Time to import the Japanese version of Hatsune Miku Project Diva F for Vita to test out the Vita TV! :P

Edited by bigjeffrey

Was going to import one but damn went with Xone games instead. Also OFFICE VIDEO WOO.

Posted by YukoAsho

I imagine most cart games will work fine once the Dual Shock 4 support comes in (are there any games out there for which the back touch isn't just replacing L2/R2?), though by the time it comes out in America, we better damned well have white Dual Shock 4s to match, or that's going to get hella confusing.

PSO2!! Goddamn you SEGA.

That thing's tiny. Seems about the size of a genisis cart.

i rofl'd at "i have to speak japanese" "donde jeff?"

lol

Man, having used remote play on my Vita with the PS4 this thing seems like a no brainer as long as it works as well. Remote play has been pretty damn fantastic. It's certainly not perfect but given the option between that and nothing it's a dream. I've already enjoyed playing AC4 doing side missions and finding collectibles and even racing online (and winning to boot) in Need for Speed Rivals.

You don't want to play the Worldwide release of that game anyway. It will get updates later than the Japanese version, and you won't get some of the cool Japan-only exclusives, like certain costumes, etc.

Edited by billygoat117

I don't really care enough about the Vita to actually get one, but for $100, I would buy the SHIT out of one of these. Also, couldn't they theoretically make the DS4's touchpad work as the rear touch?

Edited by deerpoob

When he took it out and said "this is the vita tv" I actually thought he was being his sarcastic self, but my god that thing is tiny!

Posted by PhilESkyline

Yay for office video! I wouldn't be surprised if Sony bundles Vita TV in with a Vita for the US launch. Seems like a smart way to increase the Vita install base and talk about remote play with the PS4.

Edited by TournamentOfHate

It's been WAY too long since we've seen you guys at your desks. You've let that pile of boxes grow out of control!

Sony crazy if they don't bring this to the US. Thing will sell well at $100, very well, especially to all the new PS4 owners and PS3 owners who have PS Plus and want to get some use out of some of their free vita games without dropping $200 on a vita, that, plus some great vita games and remote play capabilities make this thing a hot deal.
