Most of the time spent in this game seems to be either killing purposely terrible ai bots that just stand there, or shooting a lock-on rocket launcher at mechs that can't see you.

I am in! Looks like I'm late for the stream, but I'm simply excited for this game. I played a ton of COD4, then left the franchise after that. This game also has robots in it, which is a big help to me! It looks like this is going to be the closest thing we get to an Armored Trooper VOTOMS game, which is fine by me!

@rorie: Works now, much obliged sir Rorie.

The mechs seem lame, bored of these console multiplayer FPS and this doesn't seem different enough. I'm sure it'll sell ridiculous amounts though because I guess no one else is bored of FPS.

Thanks @rorie for bringing up the FOV issue, I hate it when FPS games on PC lock it to a console standard. Some companies go even further than laziness, Infinity Ward will flat out ban you if you use a third party solution for Ghosts' locked FOV!

Yeah, I get why companies don't have sliders, but it's still super annoying. Metro: Last Light is really painful to play on my PC because of the default FOV - it feels like it's set to 50 or something crazy like that. I guess they patched in the ability to tweak it in a CFG file, though; I need to try that.

I'm not one to care or notice much about graphics in general, but I remember the default FOV in Metro 2033 making me physically ill after playing it for a short time.

It doesn't seem sensible for a first person game developer to ignore the issue, especially when the solution is crazy simple.

Those cards remind me of Metal Gear: Acid. I'm a sucker for collecting cards and all so this might be right up my alley.

They sure do get some potty mouths while playing this game.

Oh man, those low PC textures were awful! Game looked great turned all the way up though.

Posted by Cinnase7en

Kinda weird when I hear Vinnie say he was bummed at how much better the PC version looked. Looking at the comparison shots it isn't any different, really. The only thing I noticed was the AA was better on PC.

I'm not a multiplayer kind of person, but this looks fun still. While I don't, and never really have been all too hopeful for the campaign multiplayer, I am still curious as to how it's executed. The first footage of the game at E3 was surely impressive, due to how they implement music and dialogue into a multiplayer surrounding; the animations of it all (especially the Titans) and just how fast paced it was. I still am not all that interested with all that being said though, but I know my brother's interested and will probably buy it.

Got in the PC beta, played 2 hours, it's just CoD with mechs and bland grey urban maps like everyone expected.

-The Mechs are made of paper, it's better to just set them in AI follow mode.

-The bots that fill the games are brain dead and take 5 seconds to notice you.

-The graphics and map sizes are mediocre, barely bigger than the standard CSGO map.

-They did an awesome job in taking the well known source engine "feel" and turn it into CoD's generic no recoil, slippery movement.

Got really bored after that, uninstalled. Too bad I can't trade or sell this shitty beta key.

Back to Dark Souls I go.

I'll definitively give it a go, whenever I get it on PC. However, the game doesn't seem as mind blowing as advertized. It's basically a combination of COD, Quake 3 Arena, and F.E.A.R 2 where the powered Mech comes from.

Still could be lots of fun like all those games were and in some cases still are, but this game isn't the Next-Gen showpiece the hype claimed--at least not by watching this video.

Okay, fuck the naysayers, this game is fun. I've been playing the beta, and it's kind of exhilarating transitioning between soldier and titan so effortlessly.

Also, PC version looks fantastic.

This. Lots of haters, most of which haven't even played it. It's a god damn blast.

I just played my first match on the Xbox One. I'm not sure I care about this game. :(

I haven't played it yet, but remain skeptical. The hype for this game is insane...but it looks like any other shooter. It has some more mobility and you can get in a robot (basically just a type of vehicle from my point of view), but otherwise it seems to be just another FPS. That seems to be what many people are into, though. I'll continue waiting for things like The Witness :)

Wow, millions of dollars spent to allow COD players to jump higher and use a titan that.... oh wait does the same thing as not being in a titan. Enjoy half the game on release day for 60$ then pay another 25 to 30$ for the rest that should have been in the game already. Not impessed by this what so ever.

Half the game? What are you saying?

He's trying to be edgy and hipster and say how much a game he's obviously never played (because if he had he'd know how much different pilot and titan combat were). It's the cool thing to do on the internet in 2014, be a cynical ass about things you know little about.

Yeah. Got into the beta and it does some neat things. I like everything new about it but don't really like the feel of the shooting? Only played a couple matches though, maybe I just hate the default AR/sights.

I can't get this video to play. But fuck it, my Beta code just arrived!!!!

I wish I could give away my code, I was not impressed... The game design was awesome though :).

Exactly my thoughts, there's NOTHING that stands out about this game, nothing at all.

COD with mechs, period.

and the mechs part makes absolutely no difference at all, you're just standing higher above ground... you die just as fast.

Also the low player count is just ridiculous.

The only thing worse than people judging games they haven't played, are people who label all those with reservations about the game as "haters" regardless of how well their opinions are explained.

I can see this game really sucking me into it's Titany maw...

I love the look of concentrated disgust/dismay on Geoff's face when his team is losing.

This doesn't look that interesting. Just looks like call of duty with awful ai bots running around and pointless robots that do not give much of an advantage at all.

Posted by DryvBy

I've played enough to say that it's fun enough, but nothing outstanding. The AI bots alone are so bad they should just be removed. Titans aren't even that amazing. I don't even like getting in them anymore. The best way to use them is just keep them following you while you provide defense. Seems a little pointless since that was the hype about this game. Fun, don't get me wrong, but I've about had my feel of the beta.

TL;DR - COD with a MechAssault mod and a mix of that game, Brink.

Played 2 rounds of titanfall then my xbox one would not start up anymore so I had to send it in. It was fun for the time I played it

I'm genuinely surprised how much this still just reads like a faster CoD with Mechs in it to me. The press at E3 seemed to be suggesting there was something more to it but that just doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe it's just a case of it being a particularly good example of a CoD game and a game with mechs so if you like those things it's very satisfying. But I'm totally burned out on the grindy time-sink twitch gameplay of CoD and its imitators and mechs suck. I m sorry I just flat out do not get why people like mechs. They're stupid conceptually and invariably unsatisfying to play. But that's just me I guess. Hope the folks who are into the idea enjoy it, looks like I'm just gonna have to keep waiting for my next-gen new IP shooter.

After all, Destiny awaits.

There is no reality in which EA doesn't find some way to charge for "burn card boosters" or some other nonsense to monetize those one time use items...

Is screen tearing monitor depended? Because I'm also playing without V-Sync like I do most games and never get any tearing and neither do I get it with Titan Fall.

Looks cool. Seems like the next step in the COD style game. Im not buying a XBOne for it, I can go without for now.

Well...at least I don't have to be bummed about this not coming out on the PS4. No Single Player, no sell.

Indeed, after E3 people were losing their minds. But from looking at it, it looks like a shooter with a single vehicle.

I guess it can be fun if you're into this style of play. I'll check it out to see how it feels, but it doesn't seem like a huge leap. But my preference has always been the big team chaos of Halo and Battlefield so I probably can't notice the nitty gritty.

Hmm. The scent of BRINK 2 is in the air.

@csl316:

Note the full version has more than one type of mech. Usual warnings about judging an entire game based on a trimmed-down beta apply here.

I've been playing the beta all day today and man, I'm really, really digging it. It reminds me more of playing Halo for the first time, a real different feel in terms of mechanics and shooting and movement.

People are saying "Oh its just fast CoD with mechs in" and I suppose that's true, the same way Witcher 2 is just Fable with harder combat and titties. The feel of the action is so, so, so good, so smooth and fluid--leaping from wall to wall really does become second nature like Jeff says, and the thrill of dodging past giant robots shooting missiles at you to leap up a wall and across a chasm to blast them with your machine-gun missile launcher is incredible.

There's a lot of little touches I didn't notice in the video I'm noticing playing the game--the way your commander will deliver convincing dialog about which points are captured, how the grunts will shout commands and advice to each other and they do say things like, "Aw shit, its a pilot, we needed some badasses around here."

Finally I found Last Titan Standing to be shockingly great once you get a team of six dudes all communicating together, holding choke-points, moving to flank, popping the electric smoke to cover retreats, it's quickly becoming my favorite mode. I think people really need to play the game to see how different it feels from CoD or other shooters. Yes there are tons of similarities, and you can still get killed if a dude pops out from behind you with a sniper rifle, but this is the most fun I've had in a shooter in a long, long, looooong time.

@the_vein: Agreed, I've been in the beta all day and it's the most fun I've had since Bad Company 2.

That's an awful analogy, Witcher 2 feels extremely different to Fable, they only share the "hit stuff with weapon and spells" idea. Titanfall and Call of Duty are borderline identical when it comes to the feel of the game and how easy the shooting is, for me the solid traversal controls do not mask the very shallow gameplay.

Posted by r2_z2

@rorie i love you man, but stop being such a negative nancy. especially if you have never even played the game

Edited by thefozz26

I was kind excited for this, but seeing it play, im not realy seeing what the hype is about? Killing almost mindless semi scripted AI grunts in the middle of 6 on 6 cod with double jump and robots. I maybe get it on PC once the price drops if i get an itch for a Online FPS

Edited by CrashTanuki

I'm disappointed at downloading a few of the big videos recently, like this and Rorie's Puppy Stream, that ended up not being the full thing once I started watching them. I'm not trying to be too hard on them, but nothing kills my buzz when enjoying this sort of stuff when it ends abruptly.
