Hold All My Calls, I'm Playing Titanfall

I love how a bunch of naysayers try to dismiss this thing as "more of the same" but their description ends up being kinda awesome regardless.

"It´s just CoD with giant robots... and parkour... and a bunch of AI guys for you to kill. We're all past that at this point, right guys?"

Played some Titanfall in the open Beta on Saturday, I give it 3 potatoes out of a possible 5 potatoes (so far). It's jolly good and quite novel on the surface, but ultimately, for all the talk of the revolutionising the genre, it's basically COD with giant robots.

This game is really good for a casual gamer like myself! Its really easy to get into!

Rorie complaining about the low body counts and conveniently forgetting that every setting was turned to the absolute lowest, including ragdoll. I'm all for criticism and pointing out the flaws in a game, but it seemed like Rorie was just constantly looking for any reason to nitpick and complain during the entire stream. Made it a little hard to watch.

"It's just COD with giant robots" <--- what does this even mean? The "giant robots" are a massive aspect of the gameplay, and handle/play nothing like any Call of Duty game.

"It's just like COD" - except for the part where you can wallrun up the side of fucking buildings like the Prince of Persia, rodeo ride giant mechs, directly control or slave said robots, and fight alongside the FPS equivalent of DOTA creeps.

At what point does "It's just X with Y" become a terminally lazy comparison?

Call of Duty is just Morrowind with guns. Octodad is just QWOP with a nuclear family.

Well nice to hear. Been saying this is the SHOGO we deserve for a while, and it looks like it doesn't disappoint. I do think they made the balance a little too much from being in an awesome mech.

I didn't follow any Titanfall coverage even after E3 of last year hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I mean everyone was talking about it like it was some really cool thing. But this looks super whatever. Some of the game stuff looks kind of cool, like when you eject and land on another Titan, but it really just looks like another Call of Duty.

The most disappointing thing for me is how bad it actually looks visually. Like there's nothing about this in the slightest that says next generation. The texture resolution is pretty grungy, there's no tessellation, there's no physics on any of the shrubbery in the environment or any of the cloth. Nothing. The overall resolution of the game is also some funky resolution like 1408x792 which is weird.

I dunno, I feel like @rorie saying that it didn't look visually outstanding was an understatement. He probably didn't want to rain on anyone's parade by saying it looked like poop. It looks like it might hold an afternoon of fun, but I'll probably wait until it's in the bargain bin. I guess my Xbox will have to continue to gather dust, or be my Killer Instinct box.

Damn, this game is hell of Call of Duty.

This game is so much fun! The weeks between beta and launch are going to feel like an eternity.

still think this looks like a ton of fun and it's more visually appealing and dynamic than any Call of Duty game i've seen. not sure if it's $60 worth of fun but count me interested.

Perhaps if there had been more puppies Rorie would have liked it more.
