They should have emphasized that you don't need the "Cloaking" power to sneak effectively or be stealthy and quiet. It's an option, but it's use is very limited plus requires many level up points) and you can easily finish whole levels undetected even without using it.

Meh. Nothing I have seen of this game yet is selling me on it and I am surprised it's getting such high praise.

@JackG100 probably because DE came out so long ago (also under a different dev), and because DE2 was so universally panned

I'm gonna build my character towards more arm-snapping.  That's an option, right?

@Funkydupe: The praise I have seen online seems fairly high. The criticism in relation to it seems rather tame. And I suppose it's one of those moments when I'm not seeing what some people are. Perhaps it's Deus Ex fans fanboying out over it and the rest of us are on the sidelines waiting a verdict and not talking about it.

The enemy AI is similar to that of Crysis 2 where by if they hear a noise, they'll go look but if they don't find anything they got back into their routine.

Looks like my type of game, love the visual style of people and objects highlighted and even the black and gold colour scheme. Regardless of reviews I still want to grab this game.

Kinda looks like the game is more geared towards killing than simply knocking out. In Deus Ex non lethal was considered the most silent method of taking down enemies. It looks like here it doesn't really matter.

Call me crazy but if I was trying to be stealthy I wouldn't do a take down that makes a guy get on his knees and then I break his arm before I kill him. I just feel he would be screaming for his mother the moment I do so, making all of his buddies a bit suspicious.

In all seriousness though I can't wait for this game, it looks fantastic.

You get more xp for non lethal take-downs then lethal actually. And lethal makes slightly more noise, which is a factor if other dudes are nearby.

Oh that's good, have they mentioned if your method for taking down enemies affects the reaction you get from NPCs in conversation or even the storyline?

It does. When I finished the first "mission" without killing anyone some dudes congratulated me or were impressed in passing conversation and some shady dudes I was having dealings with did too, although in a less congratulatory manner :P This did not happen when I killed a few enemies the first time through. It's nothing too major, but yes the game keeps track and sometimes uses that. It;s unlikely to affect storyline however. That seems more for how you deal with actual characters, not goons.

What I love about this game is how it puts some emphasis on the atmosphere of the world while letting you choose different methods of approach when starting each quest.

Glad to know non-lethal takedowns are being encouraged. Taking the pure stealth approach in Deus Ex was always the most satisfying for me.

He didn't actually specify on the ability to cloak as being why he thought the game was more high tech than the sequels.

Should have specified then. Because pretty much everything else is lower tech too. Plus seeing how the cloaking system is heavily featured in the video, its the most obvious target of the "why is tech better" comment.

Canada is so weird:) I love the developers there, but it's always a pain in the butt when hearing developer commentary videos because some guys sound as American as Apple Pie and others have the heaviest French accents I've ever heard! That one guy was way too hard to understand.

That being said, I also don't care:) DX3 looks AWESOME! We haven't seen someone try to make a major game release about a compelling cyberpunk world since the late 90's. When games like Messiah and Omikron came out. I cannot wait for this game!

@Tennmuerti: I was actually referring to the stungun and the marking stuff. But considering how much they were using the cloak compared to how much you could use it in the original I guess that too is alot more advanced. Actually he seems to be able to do everything that the Dentons could do, and more with his non-nanite augmentations.

@JackG100: The cloak lasts barely a few seconds in game even with the highest level of upgrades. Not sure what's so high tech about a stun gun, it's just an electric jolt, we practically have them now, just with wires.

As for how much Jenses can do, he is one of the few people who's almost entire body has been replaced with cybernetics, so yea he's packing a lot of tools, plenty of cranial implants help too. Keep in mind the main advantage of nano augmentation is it's non intrusiveness, it's painless and that it doesn't deform the body, not superiority by ability (at least not until much later in it's development). In addition Dentons are just the first prototypes for nano augmentation, where as Jensen has been completely rebuild by the leading augmentation company in what is the cybernetics golden age.
