Some idle thoughts...

Posted by PurpleMoustache

Looks promising.

Posted by fuzzypumpkin

short. wanna see more of that

Posted by mbkish

First impression; this doesn't really impress me. Then again... this showed very little.

Posted by RedRocketWestie

I've seen similar concepts in short Flash games plenty of times. It's clever, but wears thin very quickly. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Posted by Gunslinger0130

Looks interesting... If it was Idle Thoughts by Jack Handy I would be psyched.

Posted by Rumpleforeskin

A(nother) 2D indie platformer. This time with gimmicky text shit. Yay.

Posted by Y2Ken

Looks like an interesting idea. Want to see some more and see where they can take this.

Edited by RPGee

I'd buy that for a dollar.

Maybe more if it turns out to be really interesting.

@Rumpleforeskin: Would you prefer a AAA 2d platformer w/ retro style graphics. Available now on Origin maybe?

I bet the QL will be a HOOT! Cant wait for a 20 minute explanation of how this game is ground breaking and thought provoking.

Posted by solidlife

meh.

Posted by Rumpleforeskin

@Antipunk217: I'm sick of platformers TBH.

Posted by HerbieBug

Is there more to this game than the trailer shows? Because this trailer makes the game look generic and boring. :/

Posted by crithon

huh, do you type it in? kinda cool

Posted by Abendlaender

Well, this trailer sucks. Badly. Doesn't really do the game any favours. Hopefully it will be good but this trailer just seems....incredibly boring

Posted by PimblyCharles

wow this trailer is terrible. At least show off more than one instance of this game's mechanic. I think it would make sense then

Posted by SmilingPig

Scribblenauts?

Posted by BlueWolverine

Trailers are generally stupid for video games, but this was extra stupid.

Wait, wait, WAIT! Hold the phone! It's another

INDIE PUZZLE PLATFORMER

Posted by Sooty

2D and dull.

I can see why Patrick likes it already.

Posted by Pimpsandwich

Looks way less interesting that the descriptions of it made it seem. Thought you'd actually make objects out of the thoughts, not just drag around the actual words.

So either this game is gonna be really uninteresting, or whoever is in charge of trailers for this game is seriously fucking up his job.

Posted by eccentrix

It feels creepy how much Patrick uses his own name in decks.

Posted by Lyfeforce

That was short enough to get the gist, but not enough to really make me want to give them money. At least not yet, anyway.

Edited by Lurkero

The premise is definitely interesting, but let's hope the developers get very creative with what the words do. This could get boring really fast if not executed properly.

For now Mental Drift is on my list. Yeah, I'm one of those guys who likes indie puzzle platformers.

Posted by Trilogy

I teared up a little watching that. It's just so moving, ya' know?

(I'm being an ass, maybe the actual game won't be fucking stupid like this trailer implies)

Posted by ghostNPC

Seems neet.

How do I drag the memory of this trailer and this game out of my head?

Posted by jesterroyal

Not a very effective trailer. There was almost no information in it at all and not enough of a hook to have me caring about it, yet.

Dear independent developers:

stop making 2d platformers

Lol that's hilarious.

As for the game, I hope it's better than this trailer showed. It has an intriguing concept, but how much control do you have over these idle thoughts? I mean in any situation does the answer just present itself after a few moments? Is the game going to be one big waiting game? Are you going to have to juggle the wrong thoughts against the right ones?

Is it just a matter of jumping on words or can you use them as weapons? For all we know he thinks about how he'd love to crush an enemy with his thoughts, then you drag the word over and smash the enemy, which would be novel, but would wear off quickly as well.

I hope this blows us all away when it finally comes out.

Posted by TheHumanDove

That displayed a pretty lazy mechanic

Posted by LoktarOgar

If this was more like a Typing of the Dead kind of platformer, maybe.

Posted by whitespider

Extremely boring and lifeless trailer. I respect the core idea, however when you make a trailer - you show the game's best hand, not something you would find in a tutorial outlining the most basic of mechanics.

Gamers will watch the trailer, say to themselves "that's it?" and then rapidly lose interest. Some of them won't even return.

What the creator should have done is show a hugely complex mid-game moment.

Posted by Meepasaurus

Maybe not the most interesting trailer, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Brad Muir introduced me to the devs at PAX, and they have a pretty kickass business card!

Posted by Paindamnation

Porn.

Posted by The_Reflection

I can tell you guys that this game is AMAZING. Seriously give it a chance, this was one of my favorite games at PAX.

Posted by BenderUnit22

If that's the core mechanic, no thank you.

Posted by steve_borsuk

whyyyy?

steve borsuk

Posted by Zombie_Shakespeare

That's not the core mechanic, right?

That seems like the kind of one-off thing someone would do as a joke in a self-aware game, like for one level. You chuckle and go 'yeah, that's funny' but you're happy to get back to the parts of substance when they've finished with it.

There's got to be more to this. More trailers on the way, maybe? If that's it, I am completely baffled.

Modern military shooter fatigue? How about 2D puzzle platformer fatigue?

Yeah I don't get the need to always write from the third person, it sounds stupid.

I hate to say it. But this.

Deep. 10/10 would buy soundtrack.

Are platformers with a twist becoming the indie equivalent of Call of Duty?

If people stop buying they're games, I imagine they'll stop making 2d platformers.
