this trailer was way better than the Phil Collins nonsense. In-game footage, too. The microtransaction stuff still really turns me off to getting the game though. Think I'll sink 80-odd hours into Ni No Kuni instead

I don't see myself buying this at launch, but when the price finally drops a bit, I'll pick it up for some late-night gaming.

I've been hearing a lot of this, but if you've kept track of the previews, they've stated that they've gone out of the way to keep the survival horror feel of the first two games a core part of the single player experience while the co-op will be its own "thing." My only complaint is that I'll have to play the coop at some point to experience the whole story, which is at least half of what I've played this series for.

Now whether they follow through on those claims about the single player experience still being true to the genre is anyone's guess. I'm almost glad GT5 got delayed so I don't have to beat around the bush about buying this.

This deserved its own reply. I'm not a fan of the microtransactions either, but as long as they stay away from pay to win territory and don't become mandatory to play on the higher difficulties, I'm happy to just ignore it. But hey, it's EA. It's probably just a matter of time before they cross that bridge. -.-

The bolded part of your statement is my concern. The co-op should have been a segregated Uncharted-style deal, not an integral part of the game proper. Horror-action is fine by me, and I really hope the single player retains that feel.

I've heard from sources (that may or may not be playing the game ahead of its release in a non-legal manner) that DS3 is not scary, nor is it good at all.

huh, I was expecting a big "PRE-ORDER AND RECEIVE THE EXCLUSIVE (insert retailer specific gimme)" at the end there.

Yeah, I think I will be as well. People complain that they're turning Dead Space into an action game and that it isn't scary anymore. But the Dead Space games (including DS1) are not really scary. They are high tension/stress, but fear isn't a factor once you understand the game's mechanics. They are stylish action games wrapped in a really cool sci-fi setting.

Still, they did a good job with isolation as a substitute for actual fear. If they get rid of the isolation aspect, they'll have to make up for it by making the added cast of characters a worthwhile addition.

Wait for review, just simply that. I know that is somone elses opinion, but if it's GB or of course other respected and known even handed reviewers, then I consider it informed opinion. Even more at times.

I hope for the best. It's money this time, primarily.

@smokyexe: You do realize it would take a massive effort by millions of consumers boycotting EA for a year or two to even effect them right? It also wouldn't be a guaranty the aftermath would be be more desirable either.

You don't like EA then don't buy the games they publish and rest comfortably in the knowledge that in a tiny tiny TINY way, you hurt them.

Dead Space was Alien, Dead Space 2 was already Aliens, Dead Space 3 would be Aliens with The Thing.

I remember when people played games to have fun, not support some ethical crusade or some crap. If the game is fun, it could have 1000 pieces of DLC and microtransactions up the ying yang, it doesn't take away from how fun the game is. Seems gamers online have to look for something to get outraged about to be happy.

This series has been bastardized from what the original felt and played like. If my mom doesn't hate Dead Space 3, then I won't buy it. ;). God I hate EA at times...
