Perhaps this is a mistake and they listed it too early, or perhaps it's a pre-order and they mislabled it, but as of right now, it already appears to be out on Steam.

Edit: It was a mistake that has since been corrected, but it looks like some people were able to buy it before the mistake was fixed. Interested to see how that situation turns out...

Game is clunky and uninteresting. Lots of bugs and glitches I hope they address before final release or else it will be a technical travesty.

@sweetz: The demo is out on Steam as of today. The full version comes on the 15th. ;)

Good catch, I just went in and bought assuming it was a preorder, made sure to hop in and actually complete install since it is prompting that as an option in case it gets pulled.

Even Fatal Frames controls could be considered clunky, but at the very least I would say these type of games are interesting. I notice on the games product page they are already planning to sell the second part of the story as DLC, so I anticipate what ever we are buying now having a cliffhanger ending.

Surprised that it's third-person -- even has the RE4-style over-the-shoulder perspective, too. I would imagine all of the Indie-horror games go with first-person to avoid having to do all of the animation work for a third-person view (and because it can prove beneficial for setting up jump scares), so for a game developed in Indonesia it's surprising to see they were able to put in the extra effort.

unless I am mistaken ,the version it has installed for me appears to be full version after purchasing today. Unless this is a new demo different from what was in that one they made a few months back during indiegogo campaign.

@wolfgame: Maybe something changed since you purchased the game, but looking at the Steam search results as we type, the Dreadout Demo has "May 6th" as the release date and the full version has "Coming Soon" as its release date. Going to the full-version Steam page, where it would say "Purchase Game" it instead says "Download Demo".

That must be it, because what ever version I am playing is already giving out achievements, I guess they mistakenly had the full one up briefly

hmph. It looks ok, getting a Silent Hill vibe even from enemy design. The game looks a bit ugly as well but hey if it can bring the scares then Im in.

@dasakamov: Regardless of what you see now, it was most definitely a listing for the full game. Obviously that was a mistake that someone has corrected since Wolfgame and I made our posts. Maybe they wanted to make the game available for Steam press accounts, but it ended up accidentally getting marked active in the store.

I wonder how Steam is going is going to handle people like Wolfgame that bought the game in the short time it was available. Like do they just let those people continue to play the game (how is that fair to everyone else)? Do they deactivate it from people's accounts and issue refunds (which gets into questionable territory and makes people lose faith in Steam)?

Once they screw up like this I think they should just bite the bullet and make the game available now. Obviously the game is done, I guess they're just delaying the release to give it time to generate some press.

It's not enough that it might be a good game! We have to shove it in your face that it's Indonesian at every turn! Nationality is extremely important in my purchasing habits! I don't buy no games from no Mexicans!

At least this trailer doesn't make it look like a complete joke like the previous one I saw did. When the lady and red opens her eyes in the closeup I was certain that would be a sudden jump in your face type of thing but the slow opening of the eyes somehow managed to be extremely creepy on it's own. Sadly the other stuff looked run of the mill.

In the past when they've made these kinds of errors (sometimes caused by a human mis-entering the date to automatically make the game available for purchase), Steam has let people who purchased the game before it was officially available keep their game, while correcting the error on their end and making it unavailable to more purchases until the release date.

It's not really "unfair" to other people, since (hopefully) no one was counting on getting the game before the official release date. ;)

I think I remember watching some guys play a really early version of this (Two Best Friends, I think) AGES ago, glad to see that it's coming out, and actually seems to have progressed well in development. Definitely a massive difference in how it looked then and now.

Super stoked for this. It seemed pretty creepy on Spookin', and it gives me vibes of the PS2 classic era. Disappointed to see talk that they might be putting the 2nd half of the story up as DLC, though.

I wasn't impressed by Patrick's play throughs, it looked too samey with no respite. But the trailer sold it on me. Lots of interesting environments and plenty of daytime exploring. Think it a day one purchase for me.

I just got a "backer" update saying the game was accidentally put up on Steam early so they are sending us a key either today or tomorrow.

The demo isn't downloading for me, seems to be a dead link. Was the issue that the demo ended up being the "full" version?

My thoughts exactly, with lots of Fatal Frame style "Eeek! A Monster! Maybe I can sashay away from it at speeds barely over a shuffle!"

Hmm, last time Patrick played this I thought he said something along the lines of there being a demo that was put out a while ago and nothing much passed that. Cool to see it coming out so soon.
