InFamous 2 E3 Trailer

I never played Infamous, but even I will be disappointed if this guy is Cole.

The game will be great, but by the end of the first game I loved Cole and his story.

I couldn't agree with you more.  The new Cole made that stupid joke in the trailer which was so out of character for him.  The inclusion of the melee weapons and ice powers don't seem very well rationalized, other than giving the player something new (granted, i haven't played the game yet).  And finally, Sucker Punch said they were doing away with the graphic novel cutscenes, except in certain spots.  I loved the first game and sunk 50 hours into it, but Sucker Punch is just taking this series in a direction I can't follow. "

The old voice sounded like an unneeded Christian Bale Batman impersonation and the character model was just a bald guy.  He has a better voice, grew out his hair and took off his jacket.  What's bad about that?

It's not about him being worse.  It's about them completely changing his character.  If Nathan Drake was a bald-headed guy in an oversized white tee and a heavy Boston accent, I doubt you would like it very much.  "

ugh i liked sucker punch, atleast untill i saw this, what the fuck are they thinking throwing out the first game for this stupid shit, it better be a new character in a new town rather than just a new town with a redone character, and for every1 complaining about the voice actor of the first this dude sounds way worse than Cole did in the origional, they needa explain themselves more cuz this is the dumbest fucking thing i have seen in a while, wtb a continuation of the origional storyarc and origional character, the first game was amazing why fuck it up so badly now -_-

That can't be Cole cause if it is, color me unimpressed. 
The one thing I liked about the first game was the story and Cole's persona. This looks like they've Drake-a-fied the model.

He looks really bad.

Wow, are we really bitching about this game because they changed some things about Cole? His Christian Bale Batman sound-a-like voice in the first game wasn't that great, and Sucker Punch obviously felt the same if they made the switch. While I don't fully see the reasoning for the physical appearance change, it's not like they went Warrior Within and put Godsmack in the trailer.

And bitching about new powers? Really? Ice powers and lightning tornadoes are a nice mix up from just lightning.

Not liking what they've done with Cole at all. I also have no interest in playing as a different dude. Infact I also don't care for haveing a new element.

Also not the same excitement as when i saw the original.

What have they done to Cole? Sigh. I'm still excited for the game itself, but wow. I do not like at all what they did to Cole.

I never got the chance to play through the first Infamous, so I don't really have an opinion about the sequel.

These new ice powers look badass.

Man, I really hope that's not Cole.  I know not everyone liked the characters in the first game, but I did, and I am not like this new Cole design if it is him.

wow...Sucker Punch improves everything from the first and people bitch.  Oh well, I'm sure as hell gonna enjoy the sequel.  Looks better than the first.  Having ice powers makes no sense tho...wonder how they will explain that.

With the new ice powers there should be more variety to your attacks than in the first game.

I hear in the 3rd game he gets fire powers too.

InFamous remains to be the only game that makes me wish I had a PS3.

so.. where's Prototype 2?

looks way different to be called Infamous 2. Unless he's not Cole, then I guess it's ok. I liked Cole but he wasn't a terribly memorable character. The gameplay was the real gem. If this can pull off the same feeling and add a good main character plus an enticing story, then its all for the better.

I don't really like the new Cole either, but I HATED the old Cole so I guess I can consider this an improvement. 
 
I guess I would prefer if he was..... a raccoon maybe? A Thievious Raccoonus if you will. =P

Those who read the gameinformer article know two things:
 
1. That is supposed to be Cole
2. The voice actor has been replaced from the first game.
 
That said, I didn't like the old voice actor, and I don't much care for the new one either. They were looking for someone with a more expressive voice that could portray a wider range of emotions rather than always being so gruff. But based on this trailer I think they may have gone too far in that direction. Just creating a new main character would make more sense in the story for the new voice, look, powers, etc.

I didn't really like the way Cole looked, and I really didn't like how he talked...
 
... but changing it so severely this early in the franchise makes it feel like a different character.  I understand he's not.  But I think they either should've have changed the voice actor, or changed the look... doing both eliminates the continuity of character.  
 
At very least it seems like they have a strong influence on their design.  A lot about the setups in there have strong comic book roots.  Crackdown and Prototype were video game ass video games, while Infamous had a strong sense of style both visually and in story, generated from comic book influence.  Beyond its superior controls, I think that's what set it apart.

pretty impressive to build a whole new city this quick... but, for some reason it still feels like that game just came out to me.

Very interested, I'd like the see the morality system more fleshed out, but I loved the first game.  Which is weird, as I normally hate open world games.
