Gotta get the sweet, sweet MOBA money.

Finally, a video game with three playable Batmans that can work as a team.

Posted by smokyexe

Please, don't use the acronym MOBA, shit.

Posted by Maitimo

At least this makes more sense than that LotR attempt.

Posted by wrecks

No.

Posted by Sluitstripje

The correct term is LoMa.

This one is going to fail just as hard.

Why not. I hope they get a nice community around this game. Smart to use the Infinite Crisis for this.

I find it interesting how DC hasn't been inserting it's brand into the names of its recent games. Injustice and now this? I think it's cool but I wonder what the reasoning behind it is.

@maitimo: LotR Online is a pretty good game. At least for the first few months while I was playing it.

Edited by DeliciousSandwich

AoS has always been the term for these types of games as far as I'm concerned.

Wait, so X-Men Legends edit: DOTA gameplay with Shattered Dimension's multi-character thing? Is that what's going on here?

(and yes, I know DC did the multiverse hella long ago. But... Steampunk Batman. Just sayin')

Posted by CitizenJP

Dope.

Posted by DirtyData

Dota2 is already out. Why even bother?

Edited by LarryDavis

Also, ehsports.

Moba makes a lot of sense as a genre for comics games, actually. But with as many characters as they have, is using multiple universes really necessary?

Edited by Mezmero

They could be doing cooler things with these characters. No thank you.

@mr48: Never. There is only one Batman. If there is more than one then the gathering is Batmans. Because there is only one. He cannot be a gaggle of Batmen. He's a clusterfuck of Batmans.

Another licensed cash-in I can ignore while continuing to play Dota.

"Hey I hear this League of Legends game is really popular now, lets do one of those!"

Batman best ADC NA.

This looks terrible.

Year of the MOBA?

Posted by blacklab

A good way around the 'Everyone wants to be Batman' thing, I guess.

Edited by AtomicEdge

Soviet Superman or nothin'.

batmanbatmanbatman.com

Posted by Lightdud

If I play any MOBA it's probably going to be DotA2. I dunno why they're trying this.

With LoL and Dota 2 out i just don't see people moving on when they are already invested

Posted by jaks

Eventually the internet is going to run out of angry douchebags to play all these DOTA games.

Posted by VooDooPC

Does this game have one map or one map?

Posted by Impugned

2009, maybe, but 2013? Come on...

Soviet Superman or nothin'.

batmanbatmanbatman.com

Yeah, Red Son characters are kind of a no brainer.

Admittedly even Steampunk Batman is pretty well established in the comics. I think he's even been dead for like 6 years.

EDIT - Just to be clear, DC comics ran an arena comic where the baddest asses of their multiverse were pitted in 1v1v1 combat, so three versions of a character to find the most lethal one to join the badguys army. I believe the steampunk Batman lost to vampire Batman with the 3rd Batman doing an endrun. That Apollo was actually a super advanced Ray rather than Superman was interesting in an otherwise mediocre comic.

I am a big fan of using the multiverse to justify a MOBA setting (better than having identical Gandalfs going against each other in that LOTR MOBA) Also I am a huge comic fan so they had me at Steampunk Batman from Gotham By Gaslight Elseword tale, and I love all the Elseword comics so the subject matter and characters intrigue me.

However, the actual gameplay seems like shit and not smooth like dota 2, but I will give a chance and sign up for the beta.

Wonder if it's a typical moba game or a moba game like Smite, one that I actually kind of liked.

It's no BatmanBatmanBatman.com

Posted by Epidehl

Wow, I was literally just thinking at PAX about how does one of these not exist for Marvel or DC. The Multiverse stuff is a pretty cool way to do it too. Also, is DC intentionally not putting their name in the titles of these games? Between this an Injustice it almost seems weird.

As far as DC naming conventions go Infinite Crisis is a thing that DC fans know. Compared to Injustice it is a huge neon sign that screams, "yo, this is a DC thing" all it really needs is the number 52 somewhere and, a bad understanding of the word iconic and it would be the most DC thing imaginable.

Posted by rebgav

C'mon WB, how many failed MOBAs do you really need on the books?

I'll be interested in seeing how this one ends up. Seems like we are getting an abundance of MOBA's out there now.

Edited by KittyDrago

This makes a lot of sense. I play at lot of LoL and this interested me...

Edited by ShadowMarth

Don't care, call me when they make a Pokemon MOBA.

Edited by Mumrik

This is a genre that doesn't have room for many successes at a time, and no room for games that aren't F2P. If this indeed is a MOBA/ARTS I feel pretty comfortable in predicting that they're throwing money out the window here. Chasing LoL and DOTA/DOTA2 is almost like chasing WoW.

Exactly what i was going to say. This feels just like the WoW chase that went on (and is still going on). GET SOME ORIGINALITY PEOPLE.

I'd rather play a Marvel MOBA myself, but that's just me.
