Huh... I don't really like resistance.

Oh... wait.  This is for Homefront.  Not resistance.  I got confused by the video title.

Great idea to at least set the stage for destruction on the West Coast, for a change. I know it is alternate reality outlandish fiction and all but still can't get over the idea of NK being able to stage any kind of invasion on the US. I'd be more willing to buy into the action treatment of a Fallout prequel, with Chinese invasion.

So America's fucked... but how's Europe doing? You'd think that the rest of the world would've probably tried to have done something by this point.

I know it's just a game, but I'm really having trouble grasping the concept of this ever happening.

This game is coming out in North Korea, right?
It will be to them what Starcraft is to South Korea?

It's a unified Korea with the Japanese as well, the idea that Europe and Canada are standing around doing nothing seems a tad outlandish. But almost the entirety of the past 2 CoD's seemed outlandish to me, so I'm sure I can give Homefront a pass.

Yea. No way I'm buying the premise. Might try the game out though.

It's not that the situation upsets me, it's more that it's not feesable.

If a certain chain of events took place, its not out of the realm of possibilty. If the North Koreans took over the South and unified Korea then they would have access to one of the most technologically and industrially advanced countries...wouldn't take much to transfer those industries to produce military assets.

Also, if America didn't recover from the financial crisis and became increasingly weak then, it could leave them vunerable and open.

The way I see it, this is a Video Game that champions an unlikely 'what if' scenario, its the whole point of games to explore stories and themes that are a bit out of the realm of possibility.

Honestly its no more fanciful than the Modern Warfare 2 Russian Invasion scenario that was in that game...and people ate that shit up and didn't complain...since the Russians are really in no position to launch that sort of invasion on the US either.

But hey....video gamers are a fickle bunch.

It happened in MW2, and I'm fairly sure that was a factual game.

If you can't buy this premise then i take it you don't buy the premise of 99% of non sports video games.

And this CAN happen.

History has shown us that when great invasions from foreign military  occurs to other countries lots of other countries can pretty much watch until something happens to the country watching.
So to everyone still wondering how this could happen you'd be surprised if something like this happens which countries would just sit around and do nothing.

I can't believe that a bunch of gamers are sitting around and criticizing a game because its premise is outlandish and perhaps unrealistic...because space marines, aliens, machines that allow one to relive the events of their ancestors via reading DNA sequences, genetic mutation, and cities under the sea are completely believable.

Despite the premise being almost impossible the thing that bothered me most in the trailer was the use of revolution.  If you're an occupied state with a foreign military in power it's not a revolution...  A revolution needs factions within one nation to be at war.

Marketing is using the term "Second American Revolution" as a buzzword to hype it's fiction.  It might behoove them to actually use the correct terminology if they're trying to impress the gravitas of a guerrilla resistance.  Oh wait, I forgot that the US has made guerrilla a bad word for market testing.

@OneAndOnlyBigE: Thats not why people are complaining, these other situations are talking about everyone know that they are not possible and the games are not made to be thought of as possible, this on the other hand takes itself very seriously and its presentation of the premis tells us that they think this is possible, thats why people are complaining.

You're suggesting that North Korea having the resources to commit a full-scale Red Dawn-style invasion of the U.S. is in the current realm of plausibility?

I know it's been said over and over again, and I know that it really SHOULDN'T affect the game...but NORTH KOREA?  They're the most incompetent of our "enemies".  They believe (or, at least told to believe), that their leader is a magical immortal, they are invincible, and can beat anyone with their shitty army and weaponry that mostly fails during tests.  It was just such a stupid choice.

While theres no way an invasion of America could happen like this, because of our size, military superiority, or the fact that if America gets fucked, the entire world economy would probably get fucked, still looks interesting.

The public has bought games with terrible stories for as long as there have been video games. The plot of modern warfare 2 was beyond stupid, but that did not stop people from buying it in droves. I really don't get the bandwagon of saying the story is horrible so this game will suck.

This game has me optimistic, I thought front lines was alright, and if they can improve on that this game should be very good.

How did North Korea invade USA?
Maybe while every one in USA was sitting in front of their computers bitching about  how absurd some game's premise was, North Korean troops took over the country without anyone resisting?

Perhaps because that is true fantasy and this might just hit a bit too close to home. As in, we can't win a war from people wearing sandals now. An invasion in 2027 isn't even that crazy.

North Korea used some sort of EMP mega bomb before their invasion. Anyway, the steam pre-order makes me want to buy this. I was thinking rental on console but getting Metro 2033 for free and getting the game 10 bucks cheaper... Steam you've got me again.
