Jurassic Lark: Part 01

No @patrickklepek, T-Rex is short for "The Rex."

The SNES game had some really great gameplay and interesting elements, completely undermined by the lack of any kind of save or password feature. As a 10 year old kid it was like playing Dark Souls with no saving would be today.

Man the music in that SNES version IS pretty good.

There were a few of the Jurassic Park games that I loved. The SNES and Genesis versions stand out for some reason.

Laughed at the flannel, tremendous choice.

I had that Jurassic Park game for Genesis. I freakin' loved it back then. I remember beating it with both Grant and the Raptor. I loved a lot of bad games as a kid.

When playing the Snes version at release I didn't know the objectives. I knew that I had to find the different key cards and stuff but it wasn't until years later when I read the manual when I realized it tells you what to do and in what order. That you have to collect all the eggs and get the gas grenades or whatever. Still one of my favorite Snes games.

When you write Patrick Klepek out in Google, is it just me, or is the first result "is annoying" for anyone else?

Anyway, time to see how this goes, Friday the 13th was a good feature.

Jurassic Park was such a big deal on the Genesis. A friend had it, and we were at his place all the time, so I convinced my parents to get me the cheaper Jurassic Park for Game Gear. I was shocked to find they weren't anything alike, but I still played the hell out of it, because it was one of the few video games I had. There's batteries in my Game Gear right now. I should try that game again...

I had fond memories of that SNES game, Maybe I shouldn't have.

Oh, thank god someone else said this! I missed this live and probably would have shouted this at everyone. Comic Bakery is arguably the most famous C64/Amiga cracker tune of all time. The GB Jurassic Park game had a version of it, too.

Ugh, I totally remember renting these when I was a kid. I forgot there was a nes version. It's so old.

This is bringing back some awesome memories of getting SO mad at the genesis jurassic park game.

Try downloading them. I used to download premium stuff overnight when streaming stopped working.

I agree with Patrick. Jurassic Park 3 is better then Lost World.

I so hate that damned NES game. Could never finish it as a kid, since it's just a bunch of unfair bullshit and terrible design.
 
Oh and Lost World > JC 3. By far. (Even though, yes of course, the book is way better.)

I'm sad to say I was a Mega Drive owner and this title and SF2 made me want a SNES and envious of my friends who owned a SNES.

I did not remember the Mega Drive version chopping up so badly. I remember it being absolute crap, but not dropping frames like that. Is it maybe the less than legitimate hardware they're running it on? Was the PAL version maybe better? Was I playing Rampage Edition perhaps and I'm just misremembering?

Man, that game was bad.

I was waiting, WAITING for the SNES first persion section because I remember that blowing our minds as kids and I suspected it would not hold up at all. "Boy do I hate being right all the time." We were stupid children.

the first person segments were cool back then, but just haven't aged well. Sure, there were great PC games out at the time, but the SNES ports of Wolfenstein and Doom came out after this game.

I still like Jurassic Park SNES. It's super weird in a great way!

That's a fair thing to say, but 15 years down the line a lot of what we're playing and liking now will be seen as horrible.

SNES Jurassic Park holds up a lot better than other Jurassic Park games, IMO.

A solid chunk of my childhood was spent playing these Genesis and SNES versions, but an even more solid chunk was spent playing the SegaCD version, which I think you'll discover is absolutely nothing like its brethren. In fact, I think it shares more DNA with 3DO and Telltale than it does the top-down renditions.

The Jungle R is so fantastic.

I forgot how terrible these games were. I don't think I've ever made it past the Triceratops stampede.

I was looking at the list of JP games to see what will be coming up and apparently there was a Playstation 1 fighting game called Warpath. Watched some video and it looks absolutely horrible. I can't wait! I hope they rope in Jeff for that one.
